Is there a reason why this should be an Attack?

Because the other players gain Ruins. Shouldn't that include the Attack then?

come on, at least write something. just spitting out a card is so rude.

to the card: it's defintiely worded poorly and it shouldn't be an attack. The mechanic might have potential, though I'm not convinced.

here is a fix for the two easy problems:

Plague - Action - Looter - 2$+
You may play a Ruins from your hand. Return it to the supply.
-----------------------------
When you buy this, you may overpay for it. If you do, each other player gains a ruins for each 2$ you overpaid.

Okay, from now on I will write something to the cards (Sorry). Thanks for the improvements. Looks much better. However, I am confused with the Attack. Cultist also distributes Ruins and is an Action - Attack - Looter Card. Where is the difference?

cultist attacks on play, your card just attacks on buy. moat and lighthouse don't defend against on-buy effects anyway, so there is no point for it to be an attack.

By the way, you should put all your cards on one same topic, instead of creating one topic per card. It's more aesthetic.
+ you can edit your first message to gather all your cards.

Funny, in the German Dominion Forum, I did the opposite, i.e. presented several cards in the same thread, and there they suggested to better have separate threads for each card.

Regarding the Attack: Okay, I will remove that from the card.

perhaps the main thing I see with this card is that the only reason to buy it is if other people buy it. In fact, of you buy this, overpay by $2, then no one else buys this, you junked yourself as much as the other people because this card will have no effect for you. It counters itself, so if there's any other kind of trashing then I don't even need this. If there's other Looters, yes this could be quite good, but thats too specific considering most Kingdoms don't have Looters

Deutsche Leute sind verrückt ^^ but by the way, I didn't comment the card.

I think it may be boring... pay 8, gain a nearly-ruins, deal 3 ruins... looks like a race-to-8 to junk both sides and one fewer than the other one. 6 isn't enough to me, unless you know you need that plague in your deck (lol).

Main problem : if there are 5 ruins left in a 2P game, you hit $12 thanks to engine or luck... game is over for opponent, right ? And it's even more unfair if he could pull out $12 on his next turn.

Oh, I wouldn't go that far. Sometimes I'm posting from my phone or I want people to judge the card without biasing them first. It's nice when there's some text, but I wouldn't call it rude when there's not.

well but german sucks :)

Boooooo! Who's rude now? :P

As for the card itself, I think the play effect is far too weak. Also, is there a reason you put the Ruins back in the Supply, rather than trashing it?

There is no good reason for that, except maybe a historical one. Probably to ensure that the Ruins supply is available for a longer time.
My original Plague was:

Code: [Select]
Plague (Action-Attack-Looter)---(2+)
+1 Action
You may put a card from your hand on top of the deck of the player to your left.
---------------------------------------
When you buy this, you may overpay for it.
If you do, each other player gains
a Copper when you overpaid by (1),
a Ruins (overpaid by (2)),
a Curse (overpaid by (3)),
a Curse and a Copper (overpaid by (4)),
a Curse and a Ruins (overpaid by (5)),
2 Curses (overpaid by (6)) etc.

People found it too strong to enable junking with Ruins and Curses. So, I weakened this ability. They also disliked the ability to specifically attack one player.

About the attack thing, see this official card: Ill-Gotten Gains
It curses opponents when gained, and is no attack card. The reason is, as silverspawn ("Ich mache mich liebend gerne über fremde Sprachen lustig") pointed out, that attack cards do something unpleasant when played and Reaction cards like Moat, Lighthouse and Secret Chamber only care about playing attacks.

There also is a card that attacks both on play and buy, Noble Brigand. It's explicitly stated that Moat does not defend against the "attack" that happens when it's bought. Also the problem of playing is a major reason why there are no attack-durations that do something on later turns (Seaside expansion) - you just couldn't defend against the next-turn attack.

Edit: Typo.

Or maybe you could, by Revealing a Moat when the Duration Attack was played last turn? It is a mystery :o

Okay, I think I got it. How about:

Each other player gains a Ruins.
---------------------------------------

If you do, each other player gains a Curse

And yes, I am aware that the on-buy attack cannot be reacted.

actually it's "ich mache mich liebend gerne über fremde sprachen lustig" and I'm not doing that, because german is my native language  :P

It's very similar to Ill-Gotten Gains when you buy it for 5$. A bad card that gives other players curses (on buy here, but that doesn't matter that often at it's price). I guess it's a bit like Masterpiece, which you want to buy it as expensive as you can, just to have less junk in your deck. The on-play is horrible, almost a ruin itself.

I don't think it's "strictly better" than IGG, because you can't load up on these as easily (and because it doesn't profit from cost reduction and some other minor stuff). The fact that you don't have to load up on them makes up for that, though. I think it's too strong and too similar to IGG. Maybe not as boring, because you have to get some money first to make it worthwile, but definitely dominating. Basically, through this card each +2$ can be exchanged for "each other player gains a curse".

Or if you want to be thematic you could there could be following plague

Plague - Action - Attack - Looter - 3$

+1 action
Trash Rats card. If you did each other player gains a ruins and a curse.

---

Setup: Add extra Rats kingdom card pile to the supply.
