Top games of 2013
« on: March 28, 2014, 05:05:36 pm »

The Le Havre game I mod is almost completed, so I would offer to mod another game. Please choose which game would be the most interesting for you to play.

I'm roughly familiar with all of the games, though I haven't played most of them (I did play Bora Bora and Bruges). If the game that gets the most votes doesn't work as a forum game, I would select the game with the second most votes.

I will consider the votes as sign ups for the game.

Having played all of these games except Lewis and Clark, I think I think Bruges and Amerigo won't work well as a forum game.
Bruges has the problem of having to draw 5 cards individually every turn for every player, having to waid for the mod to reveal what the next card is after every draw.
Amerigo has the cube tower, which probably can't be simulated without actually having it.
The other games should work fine I guess.

I think the cube tower should be possible. Essentially you throw n cubes in the tower. With a probability p each one passes. Then you draw a random m cubes from the tower. One would have to tune p and select a reasonable range of m (1-5?). Luckily there are some extensive tests of the dice tower over at BGG.

I agree that the redrawing in Bruges would be cumbersome.

I was going to review rules, and see what I wanted to play.
But then I realized, that I probably just want to play them all anyways.  Consider me in for whatever you run (I voted for them all :) )

I only voted for Caverna, because it was the only one I knew anything about, but like theorel, there's a fair chance I would play one of the other ones too.

Russian railroads is fun and shouldn't be too hard to do. (And should play quickly enough with active players, I think).

I have only played Bruges and thought it was so-so. It didn't excite me as much as it's hyped.
It's a decent enough card game, but not a pivotal point on the gaming timeline.

I just bought Lewis & Clark, and want more opportunities to play it.

Ok, so Lewis & Clark got the most votes. I would start the game with the 3 players that voted for it and liopoil, if he wants to play. Please confirm in the game thread that you are ready to play.
