I didn't know what the hell to do here. There's no +buy, FV+Library is weak, trashing just invites pirate ship. I played super sloppy and just fumbled my way around and eventually got into a moneyless expand into provinces sorta thing, albeit a poorly built one. Could pirate ship be the way to go here?

Yeah I really only posted this on the off chance that Robz would think pirate ship works here.

There's no way this is a Pirate Ship board. You don't need treasures. Just gain with Altar and Expand into Province or Bishop into VP tokens.

Bishop Golden Deck can probably just straight up beat the Pirate Ship here, I think. So it's out, immediately.

What else...

You could also just Altar and Expand up your deck and gain with Hermit. Scavenger for some virtual coin.

There's nothing too bracing strong here, I would just play kind of general 'buy the good cards' thing. And the good cards don't include Pirate Ship here. (Or ever.)

Yeah I was thinking golden deck but I've never actually tried it. This is a good opportunity.

I don't think Pirate Ship should win here. There's no +buy. So even if you get your PS way up, there's no way to take advantage of the coin it provides. It's always just going to be a terminal +$3-$5 here. Which is okay, but it's also helping trash the other guy's Coppers, which is something the other guy wants!

Against it, cant you just like amass Hermits and quickly replenish lost Silver?

I actually think the Noble Brigand, more than the Pirate Ship, poses a possible threat. Noble Brigand actually pretty effectively blocks Silver and Gold reliant strategies. And here you can even Upgrade them into like Inns and then buy more. If you don't pursue money at all and go PS--because you are afraid of Brigand--you'll probably just lose to the Hermit money guy, though.

Possibly some rock paper scissors thing happening, here.

Hermit guy can replenish silver against NB guy too though?  Maybe not fast enough, hm.

You could maybe go for an Inn/Hunting Grounds engine using Upgrade and Quarry.  Then get a PS or Noble Brigand if they go for money.
