Where would you travel to meet F.DS people?

We all like to play Dominion, and I think it's safe to assume everybody here is pretty awesome, right? Well I had an opportunity to meet some F.DS people at a Dominion tournament in Michigan a while back and it was amazing. So why not at least try to meet up and play Dominion?

There are several options above: you should check all the places you might be willing to go for a weekend or something to meet F.DS people. Then after a lot of people have hopefully voted you can see who can do that and maybe it will be a starting point to organize something. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't, but we can at least try!

If you want another place on the poll, or if something is silly and should be removed, let me know and I'll hopefully be able to change it (though I've never made a poll here before so maybe not).

For me, it's a maybe on New York.  It's out of range from my school, but when I'm at home it would work.but I voted it anyways

I think we should all just go on JoCo Cruise Crazy 5. There's a 24-hour game room, plus entertainment. A week of Dominion!

I live in the Denver area. Everything is probably too far to drive, especially if I'm leaving my wife behind.
Much more likely we'd be able to take a trip to New York and while we're already there I could spend a day playing Dominion. Still not super likely, but possible around May 9-31 or July-early August.

Ooooh... tempted.

I voted for everything. Just need a month's forewarning for any event and I'll make it work.

Selecting a cruise that everyone can agree on sounds like a very practical, wise solution.

I have wanted to go on Joco Cruise Crazy for the last 3 years, but have been unable (my wife's school / residency schedule killed it basically).  Still holding out for next year...

On a more general note: I would try my best to go to any F.DS event (at least in the USA) but there's just no telling!  My life is sadly not that conducive to traveling these days.  Major cities that are the best fits for me include: Columbia, SC; Atlanta, GA; Washington, DC; Philadelphia, PA; Tampa, FL.  Why?  Well, because I have relatives and such I can crash with easily to cut down on planning complications.  :P

AdamH, could you perhaps add Caribbean Cruise to the poll (and allow us to recast votes)?

As a resident of Washington State (well, not right now, but legally still) I object to you calling D.C. Washington without the suffix.

I could maybe do D.C. or NY before the end of the school year (mid May for me) or after it starts again (September). I only checked Germany because there's a chance that I do research there this summer.

Wow, what a response. I put this up, go to sleep, and then I have a bunch of responses already! I really didn't think it would get this kind of response at all...

In general, I'd say if it's a maybe (anything other than a flat "no") then you should vote for it.

AdamH, could you perhaps add Caribbean Cruise to the poll (and allow us to recast votes)?

I added the options. There was a box for resetting all the vote counts to zero, that appears to be the only way to allow re-casting of votes -- is this what we want?

No. Before your update, the "Remove Vote" option was available for each of us. Now it's not. Can you edit the poll and check "Allow changes to votes" or whatever?

There doesn't appear to be any such option :(

Geez, this is crazy.  I had a dream AdamH and I were running FDSCon and had drawn up impromptu tournament seeds on a whiteboard...  GET OUT OF MY HEAD.  The most distinct part of the dream was me explaining the rules of Black Market.  You could opt to veto it, play with the randomizer deck, or actually spend the time to get the individual cards out.  Also, people only brought enough sets for seven of the pairs, so one group had to play on Goko wearing dunce hats.  It was the most vivid dream I can recall having in several months.

Other attendants included: Robz, Kirian, theory, Rabid (the only one from out of the country), shark bait, and I can't remember the rest.  Kirian looked like the alchemist from isotropic.

Impressive. Do you hate Black Market just like I do? Was my amazing box in your dream? I especially like the dunce hats -- I'm really hoping they had to play base only for the lolz.  :P

Oh hey that reminds me, I think I'm going to be able to stream/play some Dominion this Saturday afternoon: maybe we can try to put together that best-of-one single-elimination "tournament" that was talked about a couple of weeks ago...

I actually like Black Market, but the problem was that we were trying to finish the tournament as quickly as possible, so it was necessary to lay down ground rules about the most tedious set up card.  MY awesome box was in the dream, but I don't remember others.

The dunce hats were one of those hilarious things I'd never actually come up with because I'm not that funny, but apparently my subconscious is.
