Maybe not the most interesting game but I think I'll take advantage of this section and analyze anyway. It was pretty close, I think he built a little too much instead of going for provinces when he had a good amount of gold already. Anybody have any input? Also, sorry about not having a link to the log. The past couple games I've played there was no new window with the log and link when I click on the log even though I'm using scavenger. Any info about that?

Put it in {code}{/code} tags, except replace { with [ and } with ]. This way it will take much less space. About the game, I don't think you want to build your deck around minstrel/tunnel - focus on getting your engine running first, then you can add a tunnel or two later and you're be in very good business.

Thanks! I spotted the engine right away but when he opened with tunnel I figured it was only a matter of time until he would consistently province every turn, especially if he got a trading post or masquerade right away. I think you're right though, even without a +buy those "dead" tunnel cards could've been catacombs and masquerade. Maybe an early embargo would've sealed it.

No +buy is bad for the great engine here, but I think with embargo + Masquerade you could embargo Provinces and then pass the curse back right away.

It is better to Embargo the Mistrels early, that will hurt Mistrel/Tunnel player much more than the Engine player (who can discard Tunnel with Catacombs anyway). I would open Masq/Mistrel for fast cycling and then add Embargo in the first <$4 (probably Mistrel with $4 or Fortress if it is Embargoed and Catacombs later on $5). I cannot imagine any strategy without Masq winning here.

Masquerade + venture makes a strong treasure deck. I'd take that deck as the baseline that any tunnelcentric deck needs to beat.

If you do go for tunnels then start with masquerades to trim the deck. The tunnel comes later. Trading post shouldn't come into this at all since a good trading post deck will use the silver rather than gain more gold.

Hey guys thanks so much for all the input! I played this game again and took some of your advice. However I opened 2/5 and picked up embargo and trading post. It turns out I never even touched a tunnel or gold but somehow got the win anyway. I'll play another one and see what happens.

This one didn't work as well without the trading post. I was surprised how fast I could draw my deck in the last game and it just didn't happen as quick in this game. Maybe I overbuilt and should've bought duchies instead of catacombs and border villages.

In the end, I think the engine is correct. Masq, trading post, green early and often. Tunnel probably isn't a factor in this one at all.

Trading posts have a staggeringly high drop in capability depending if you can't get them in the first couple of turns. If a trading post is working well you should draw lots of silver to buy provinces rather than mess about with side strategies like tunnels.
