I'm surprised nobody put apothecary in this list. Of course it needs some support (since you're not drawing the Coppersmith all the time).

This type of strategy could work really well with Ill Gotten Gains, because A) Each time you play IGG, you can gain a Copper, putting it to immediate use, and B) Your opponent gets a Curse each time you pick an IGG up

(I did not create the Trogdor the Burninator song nor am I associated with its producers in any way.  I just think it sounds cool. :P)

Agreed, but IGG is good in general with Coppersmith. I am not completely convinced however about IGG + apothecary. Yes you get extra coppers, but also stuff you don't want (the IGGs). Apothecary works best with a neat deck.

coppersmith is a great enabler for apothecary/native village.  apothecary native village where you can trash/stowe coppers is really, really reliable.

Step 1: Buy Coppersmith.
Step 2: Play Coppersmith and buy ******.
Step 3: ????
Step 4: Profit!

OK, I can finally reveal: The Prince of Coppersmiths Gambit!

Step 1: Buy Coppersmith on turn 1 or 2.
Step 2: Play Coppersmith on turn 3 or 4 along with 4 Coppers and buy Prince.
Step 3: Play Prince on turn 5, setting aside Coppersmith.
Step 4: Profit: All your Coppers are now Silvers for the REST OF THE GAME.

Well, obviously Coppersmith can be viable, if

- You can draw a lot of coppers (or cards in general)
- You can play multiple Coppersmiths (also King, Throne...)
- You have sources of +Buy to spend your money

It can be a nice payload for engines. The bad thing is, most engines don't like Coppers, so it's very likely that you want to thin them first, get your engine going, buy the Coppers back later.
