Speaking of things that bother me, it shouldn't be LGBTQ+. "Queer" is already a catch-all; either make it LGBTQ or LGBT+ >:(

The "Q" doesn't always stand for queer (it sometimes stands for questioning) and "queer" is not exactly a catch-all because
  • most of the prominent definitions of "queer" only include people who are not cis and/or not straight and therefore exclude e.g. cishet aros and cishet intersexual people
  • in practice, the reclaimed "queer" is often used as a shorthand for genderqueer
  • it is not entirely uncontroversial that the word has been successfully reclaimed, so the convention is that you shouldn't call other people queer unless they describe themselves as queer

It is redundant with the +, but so are all the other letters in the acronym.

mhh I suppose. I think then the obvious solution is to just say LGBT+ and leave the Q out of it. Definitely don't wanna exclude aroace people

FWIW I usually just type LGBT because the + is obviously implied even if people don't type it out, unless I'm responding to someone in which case I copy their spelling, or writing something potentially controversial where it's extra important to signal that I'm one of the Progressives™.

Thank you all for your submissions! I wish i had time to playtest these and provide better feedback. Alas, here are the submissions and some feedback:

Will(ow|iam)'s Sift: An Event that is a decent design, but not terribly exciting of synergistic with the mat. As an Event it is available to all, but at $5 it won't be bought often.

stars's Fertile: An Action-Victory who's action is fairly week but it fuels its Victory condition. The Victory condition is not terribly strong. I'd love to have seen more synergy with the mat.

czzzz's Arborist: An Action that at $4 can be bought in the opening. It provides better exchange for Trees than the mat. If provides a method but almost no payload to secure multiple Seeds. There is some nice synergy with the mat.

Melon's Arborists: A rotating four card split pile. These can be great if they entice players to gain them. Gardener is a little underwhelming - the first card is always the most difficult though. Harvester is interesting. Canopy if fine, although it would be better is the deck discard did something, like maybe fish your deck for a card and discard the rest or is like Lookout. Orchard is a Victory-Reaction who's points are difficult to get, but who's reaction adjusts the mat's operations in an attempt to gain its elusive points.

StrangerSon712's Proprietor: An Action that hastens the shuffle while loading the mat. This might work, but limit its usefulness since using it would progress the mat at the expense of getting to your other cards. I could see this getting skipped late game if it came up early after a shuffle. Interesting idea though.

:)                                       :)
While these are all good submissions, there can be only one winner.

Winner: czzzz's Arborist

Runner-up: Melon's Arborists

I don't like everything about this song/album, but the last 10 minute are really cool. Great finale, fake ending, meta-commentary, and then real (and musically awesome!) ending after it

Actually this bothers me a little -- why choose "whoohoo!" over the far superior spelling of "wohoo!!"? The second "ooh" is clearly longer than the first, and a second ! is appropriate here.

I don't know how much you care since it's a removed card, but Artist is strictly better than Feast.

Good catch. I hadn't played Feast in so long that I misremembered it as .

Oh well, I'm not going to fix the card. I'm just going to discard it. Not worth salvaging when Altar exists.

Paul Christiano named as US AI Safety Institute Head of AI Safety

That's... pretty great, actually. Paul Christiano is about the best person you could want in there. Eliezer, being his humble self, has previously described him as the only person in the world who disagrees with him despite a technical understanding of the problem.

Even more credit to Biden for his help in making this happen.

That is unexpectedly great news.
