The real Silver was lost/siezed in a government raid on youer operation? I guess you are the government, so maybe not.
Perhaps you damage the original Silver in making the molds for casting the fake Silvers, and each mold is fragile and breaks after 2 uses, so you lose an original, gain 2 one-shot fakes, and then melt down the original to recover a modicum of value from it?

It seems you should be getting some kick-backs from Goko for all these things you are doing to make their implementation better.
Dare I ask if you can write a script to set up auto-match?  ::)

Yes - I remember hearing it was an error in the first printing of the rulebook.

I wonder if people actually got it was a Scout.  :-\

Um, yeah, I missed that. I think it is because the face is your meme is much too well-drawn and realistic to be Scout. ;)

and yes, I just saw that Fool's Gold is in BaseCards.

Also Coppersmith :P

And looks like all the "Villages" are in Dominion...Grand Market, Young Witch, and Market Square too.

So, Copper and Coppersmith (all things "village", "witch", and "market" too) are indistinguishable in the current code? I don't know much there, but it seems that could be teased out?

Dominion General Discussion / Re: Beggar/Counterfeit?
« on: May 05, 2013, 08:40:32 pm »
It was just a thought.  I was trying to think of ways to get more use out of Beggar without flooding your deck with Copper.

Watchtower to empty the Copper pile for [edge case] reason?
I think thay the reaction is often a nice counter to a number of attacks. And, when a board is attack-heavy, flooding your deck with Silver can be nice except for [not-so-edgey cases].

Black Market is just annoying, frustrating and luck based.

I chose BM for this reason (minus the luck). I love a BM-double-Tac, but it is just such a pain to set up the the deck. At this point, I almost exclusively play IRL, and I have yet to hear of a way to build a BM deck that isn't painfull to create and put away (and I have an inexplicable aversion to just using the randomizers).
That being said, I am sad at how frequently Governor reduces all parties to a 1-card strategy, even when it isn't dominant.

Hey paddy, long time no see. So, you're back?

Hi Qvist. Am I back? TBH, I'm not sure. I was laid off yesterday, and I'm taking a sanity day today before hitting the job-search grindstone on Monday. A little scary for me and the wife/kids, but we're confident that I'll be able to find something relatively quickly. (Here's hoping, anyway.)

If you make as positive an impression on people in real life as you do on this forum, you will find something in no time!

This! Good luck Paddy.

Dominion General Discussion / Re: What is your favorite village?
« on: April 26, 2013, 05:38:37 pm »
Steed is spectacular when it's the only Village, but still good otherwise as well - you can use it for +$2/+2 Cards in those circumstances, which is very nice.  I don't think I've ever actually used the Silver shuffle.

I used it once in a slog game.

I had a 3p IRL game where it was the best enabler for Feoda. It worked out pretty nicely, since they didn't contest the Feoda, which gave me enough time to play the Steed enough to make the Feoda meaningful. That, and scads of silvers go a long way to buying Provinces.

councilroom confirms it.

http://councilroom.com/supply_win?&targets=adventurer&interaction=true&nested=false&unconditional=true

According to CR, colony is the 9th best helper for adventurer.

reading this, thoughts:
1. rrenaud's sorting works really well, all of those cards really do combo well with adventurer
2. man i miss dominion...

Adventurer - University seems an odd pairing to me. Does anyone have thoughts on why they well together?

Help! / Re: Chapel, Bishop, Moneylender, Mine, Worker's Village
« on: April 22, 2013, 07:24:44 pm »
It isn't so much a matter of specific other cards on the board. If there is an opportunity to build to a mega-turn, then trashing might be called for.
An example of when you might want to pass on Chapel is where you think a simple money-based strategy will yield a relatively quick victory. If something like Jack of all Trades + money  is going to be the best strategy, then the Chapel and thinning your deck isn't worth the effort.

88
Thinking about it a bit more, wandering minstrels with ghost ship and a masquerade will be the deck you want going into the endgame. That kicks a few opposing strategies into the long grass. Certainly not a trivial kingdom.

Nobody mentioned Ghost Ship followed up with Masquerade?

Just DG and you! :)

The turn that made people start declaring me the inevitable winner I drew for Tactician, played KC-Wharf, bought the last 2 KC and the last 3 Peddlers.
Thanks!

Bots love Warehouse nearly as much as they love Spy.
+3 cards, +1 action - what's not to love? It's basically a superLab or Village Smithy. How could there be a downside to buying them all?

I would think you should be pretty successful if you are able to consistently play your Militia as part of a Militia-Festival-Library engine. There are aother bits you can add in to help if necessary. I don't knoow if it is optimal, but I like to avoid buying much treasure in those sorts of decks, prefering to get most of my coin from Militia and Festival. It shouldn't be too difficult to double Province and control the end game.
But, that is the topic of conversation here, and it seems that you will often be one bad draw away from losing. Huzzah for Base only.
(The above is stipulated on having a single opponent.)

4 piles with 5 players is the official rule anyway.

I am curious which piles were emptied in the OP story: Highway, Wharf, X, and Y. Peddler and Ironmonger?

I think the Bot's turn 12 deserves to go under bizarre strategies. He Remodeled a Gold into aa Duchy (to not take the last Province and lose) and then played 3 Coppers for an Estate. Granted, the game was all but over, but it would be nice if his code let him keep the Gold, Remodel a Copper for an Estate, and buy a Duchy. Same VP result, but with a Gold in the deck, rather than a Copper.

94
I think that the Graverobber is much stronger than Rogue.
If there are cantrips and/or decent thinning on the board (or esp. $5 cantrips), Graverobbers basically become $5 Provinces. I don't think it is too hard to design a deck where 2 Graverobbers collide with some consistency. This means you need very little economy - once you have a few, you will either be trashing them for Provinces or recovering them from the trash to recycle.
I am not saying it is a top-tier card, but I do think it is better than it is ranked presently.
That was the only card I felt was markedly out of place on this set.

« on: April 16, 2013, 05:58:14 pm »
I see an engine with Crossroads, Storeroom, FV, TR, Golem, and Stables. (With, of course, YW and Tunnel.)
I would be concerned that by the time you set all that up, it will be pretty late in the game. Ahoppy did say it went long, but an engine, especially a complicated one, is a risk in a 4p game.

That checkbox is randomized as well when you create the set, I think.

Ah, that's what I was missing.
Does Goko still think that "random" for Colonies is about 1/1000 chance?

With Sheme as the bane of YW all you need is one and just topdeck it every turn.
True, unless there is some other action I would like to topdeck as it works its way through the deck.

RftG has entered private beta phase at Goko - they have an option to sign up for the beta if you are interested.

It doesn't look like the sign-in you used for the Dominion beta will work; you have to sign up anew.

Dominion: Guilds Previews / Re: So. Guilds.
« on: April 15, 2013, 02:52:33 pm »
Given the last couple expansions, I don't think we should expect previews until at least late May...
I am just hoping to get them at all! May is fine. The way I had read DXV's previous comments, it sounded pretty pessimistic about seeing any previews.

Previously, Donald had mentioned that he wasn't likely to do previews because he wasn't given a firm release date. Since RGG thinks "June", can I hope that Donald might be able to do previews? If it does release at Origins, that is a firm release date, right? Previews? Please? ;D
