Dominion Articles / Combo: Hamlet/Talisman/Fool's Gold
« on: May 23, 2012, 12:25:38 am »
By looking at this combo I bet you can already guess how to pull this off. Simple: Open Hamlet/Talisman and some turn later, (turn 3 or 4 ideally) play the Hamlet, discard for +1 Buy, then buy two Fool's Golds, and gain two more via Talisman. With a bit of shuffle luck, you can pull this off. And when it is pulled off, the next time you shuffle you will have at least four (probably 5) Fool's Golds in your deck.
One good thing about this combo is that you can open with it if you get a 5/2 or a 4/3. This cannot be said about most combos. Secondly, after that shuffle, you only need to waste a few more turns buying FG before you can switch to green.

Something you cannot do with KC-Governor-Bridge...
Challenge: In a solitaire game, be the quickest to play two Tacticians in one turn.
Rules: Both Tacticians must take effect. So, at the start of your next turn, you must draw ten cards, get +2 Actions, and +2 Buys.

Rules Questions / "Border Village-Haggler explosion?"
« on: May 20, 2012, 11:27:23 pm »
There probably is already a thread for this, but here goes:
Does the Border Village-Haggler explosion really work? The card you gain from Border Village is gained, not bought, and the wording on Haggler says specifically thatwhen you buy a card, you may gain a card costing less than it. Ergo, gain a card less than the card you gained via Border Village is against the rules, right?

Dominion Articles / Ideas

Cache/Counting House: Came across this a little while ago, seems pretty good. Its Cache BM with Counting Houses to get al the Coppers. Pretty fast, too. Thoughts?
Request: Bishop. There probably has been an article for Bishop already, but oh well. The reason I ask is because of the diversity of the things it can do. Operate the Golden Deck. Quick VP grabber. Mild trasher. Wonderful opener. End game savior. And it is nice with Masquerade.

Puzzles and Challenges / Please look at my hand!
« on: May 05, 2012, 09:42:25 am »
When would you want your opponent to look at your hand?
Here is one solution:
If you have been keeping very good track of your opponent's deck (which he hasn't been doing) and you know that in his hand he has only one Platnium and 2 Estates, a Witch, and a Venture. In his deck, he has a Copper on top, a Platinum underneath that, and a bunch of VP cards underneath that. In your hand you have a Moat, and a bunch of Gold and Platinum. There is one Curse, and one Colony in the supply, and you are behind. If he plays the Witch, he will draw the Platinum and Copper and win, so you wan't him to see your hand and find out that you have a Moat, so he will play the Venture and only get a Copper. Then, you can buy the last Colony and win. If he doesn't see your hand, then he will play the Witch, give you the Curse, buy the last Colony, and win.

Dominion General Discussion / Ridiculous Dominion House Rules
« on: April 26, 2012, 09:25:19 am »
What are some of the most crazy house rules you can think of? Here are a couple to start off...
- + $X means you gain that amount of treasure. (+$2 means gain a silver, when you play Mandarin you gain a Gold)
- Play with all the Victory cards instead of eight, and all the curses instead of ten.

Your opponent plays an ambassador and reveals a Colony. But instead of gaining it, you reveal a Watchtower and trash it. Why?

It again must be the best move in the situation.

You may set aside a treasure card from your hand. At the start of your next buy phase, return it to your hand and play it twice.
