Rules Questions / Re: New Overlord with Highway
« on: December 18, 2019, 10:41:49 pm »
Another example of "while this is in play" vs. "when you play this".

Any effect that says "while this is in play" won't work with Overlord.  The card isn't in play... the Overlord is.  For Highway, you would get +1 Card / +1 Action but you wouldn't get the cost reduction.  Another big one is Groundskeeper.  No bonus VP when buying green, as no Groundskeeper is in play.  Same with Goons if you can manage to Overlord a Goons.  You get +1Buy and +$2 and the opponent discards down to 3 cards, but no bonus points for your buys, as no Goons is in play.

The classic "when you play this" card that does work with Overlord would be Bridge.

Dominion General Discussion / Combo: Explorer/Captain
« on: October 01, 2019, 02:46:39 pm »

Not an effective gameplay combo at all.  But when you look at them next to each other, how can you not think that they're on the same ship... sharing the same quarters...

C plays a Swindler.
C gets +$2.

Thank you for Swindling!

The log doesn't show it, but today in a game with Fountain my opponent played Tormentor, and the Hex I got was Greed which delivered me my 10th copper.  So, I got +10 points for getting a Hex.

Goko Dominion Online / A Christmas Eve Gift from Making Fun
« on: December 24, 2016, 09:39:36 pm »
While Christmas Eve drunk-chatting with other drunk Dominion players in the Making Fun chat, I posted:

"Isotropic was 3x better than this, and that was built and hosted by some guy working for free in his ba***t."

Turns out Making Fun auto-censored "semen" from the middle of the word "basement".

Hilarious!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Goko Dominion Online / Re: What feature will you miss the least?
« on: December 22, 2016, 06:36:17 pm »
How has nobody mentioned trying to discern which action card in your hand is which based on a 3-pixel sliver of the left side of the card image?

Also:
~ Inability to mute your opponent.
~ No achievements to pop.  I really miss these from CouncilRoom.com.  Purple Pile Driver was my favorite (get 10 curses and win).
~ When you're playing your glorious mega turn that you spent the entire game working on, the opponent just resigns in the middle of it and you don't get to play your awesome turn.  If the opponent resigns during your turn, there should be a notification that you can accept, or if you ignore the notification then the resignation happens at the end of your turn.
~ No ability to choose same starting hand as a game parameter.
~ No undo when you click the wrong card. (The opponent would have to be able to grant or decline the undo, but it should be there.)
~ The end actions/end turn buttons in the same exact spot.

I upgraded, now I'm screwed.  Hung games and "you are in a game" false positives that won't let me start games.

Game Reports / Good example of Native Village+Bridge (Combo #27)
« on: August 03, 2016, 04:05:25 pm »
Waited until the last possible moment to push ignition...and it worked!  Opponent already had 5 Provinces when I did it.  I pulled down 3 Provinces and 5 Duchies on the last turn for the win, just like the article said.  ;D

I love combos like this and Hermit/Market Square where you build up the entire game for one insane turn, and the opponent never sees it coming.

Rules Questions / Swamp Hag + Black Market...gain a curse?
« on: July 27, 2016, 11:51:34 pm »
When you buy from the Black Market with Swamp Hag in play by your opponent, you should gain a curse, right?  This doesn't happen on Dominion Online.  I'm quite certain that other on-buy effects (e.g. Haggler) kick in when you buy from the Black Market, so Swamp Hag should too, yes?

42
Installed yesterday.

Uninstalled today.  Shit was so slow it was unbearable, not to mention the glitches like the cards in the deck glitch.  Online Dominion is dead to me.

43
Yeah I just won a game and my record is 0-0-0.  Ah well, just happy to play.

44

So now I need a 300MB app on my hard drive instead of playing in a browser?
This big green button is more like a big green pile of dog shit!

Haha OK I'm overreacting.

But seriously, good luck remembering your password everyone!

Dominion General Discussion / Dominion's Tragic Flaw?
« on: June 08, 2015, 11:26:38 pm »
Does anyone else feel like the percentage of games that are decided by luck before the Turn 4 shuffle or the Turn 7 shuffle is just too high?  I feel like it's a little more than 50% of all games where the players are of reasonably equal skill, and this just seems like a flaw.

Dominion General Discussion / Re: Dominion Achievements
« on: April 16, 2015, 08:13:53 pm »
The isotropic list on page 1 is missing my absolute favorite: Purple Pile Driver: Gain all 10 curses and win.

Nothing more satisfying at the end of a game than having 10 buys and an 11-point lead and needlessly rubbing it in by snagging the entire stack of curses.  I popped quite a few of these  :o  Sorry everyone!

Other achievements:

Master Strategist: Play two Tacticians in one turn -- tough one!
Master Thief: Gain a Gold or Platinum from more than one opponent on one Thief play
Original Megaturn: Gain all of the Provinces in one turn without spending money
MegaMegaTurn: Gain all of the Colonies and Provinces in one turn
Rasputin: End the game by making your opponent gain the last Province on your Ambassador play and win
Swindoozie: Swindle an opponent's Prize card into a Curse.
Rage Quit: Possess an opponent an use his Ambassador or Masquerade to move his Province or Colony to your deck

Goko Dominion Online / 4-5 minutes to load while opponent is in game
« on: March 28, 2015, 05:50:56 pm »
For the past two weeks, all of my games have been taking 4-5 minutes to load.  Meanwhile, my opponent is in the room.  I always finish loading and enter the room to an annoyed message from my opponent wondering when will I make my first move.

Does anybody know how to fix this?  Thanks!

Game Reports / 11-pile game: There goes the kingdom.
« on: February 21, 2015, 12:03:24 am »
OK I admit, Microman was nice enough to be an accomplice in this once the game started to get silly.  It was fun though.  The last turn is probably the longest single-turn script I've ever seen.  The entire kingdom is gone at the end of the game and estates are too.

Game Reports / Ambassador slugfest makes cool Victory Points Chart
« on: February 14, 2015, 06:01:04 pm »
Moderately epic win, with the most Ambassadoring I've ever had in one game.  But what I like about this game is the Victory Point Chart.  Ambassador games makes some pretty cool charts.

Dominion General Discussion / Re: Individual player analysis tool
« on: January 31, 2015, 10:51:11 am »
Being the only one to "buy" Curse also has a reasonably strong correlation with losing, too.

Not for me.  My signature move is buying curses with any extra buys I have on my last turn when I've won the game.  My absolute favorite is if I'm up by more than ten points and have ten extra buys on the last turn, just casually picking up the entire curse stack.  My favorite thing ever was the Purple Pile Driver achievement on Council Room (gain all the curses and win).  Ah, the good old days!

My win% when I'm the only one to gain a Curse is 68%.  I been breakin' stats since Isotropic.
