lespeutere defeats GeoLib
Is the timezone problem such an issue ? I mean, GokoDom proves it can get sorted.
If you post logs of your games in the "Help!" section of the game reports thread (http://forum.dominionstrategy.com/index.php?board=18.0) and give some commentary on what you think you did well/poorly, people are generally very helpful. How do you get a url of game logs? I do Have goko salvager, if it is needed
This will open a window with the game log. Paste the url of the log in your post to report your results.
Curse you lespeutere, you ninja'd me with myself!

Haggler actually speeds up the building process: it let's you get 2 Hunting Parties off a Border Village and a Golem off a Possession purchase.
QuoteThanks for the fun games burtsbees! As I said before, anyone feel free to comment and tell me what I did wrong (and possibly right).
hm, i'm pretty sure that potion would've been the correct play on the second game. the problem is that quarry basically guarantees you'll get possession in a reasonable amount of time. Mh... I'm not sure how exactly you do it best, you could try to only buy treasure cards until you get to possessions, which would guarantee money targets for your golems, but it might be too slow. The alternative is to buy some action cards to help out, armory is nice to get lots of quarries, but it's an awful target for golem, I think the best thing would've been to open silver/quarry, get quarries with $4, hunting parties with $5, potion either before the second or before the third reshuffle, and then just golem/possession. If you don't buy any other cards until you get provinces, you're likely to dig for potion cards with hunting parties, and you will eventually get to >1 possession per turn. Haggler might be worth throwing in aswell, since it can let you gain possession and golem in one turn, but it's another target for golems when you would rather hit possessions.
Maybe that's still too slow. But I don't think it is.
Game 4 : "The temptation of a lady" : TheMirrorMan wins.
Sometimes you see that card where you think : I really need this. This will give me a decisive advantage.
We both have 5/3 split (baker coin token). And I see ... Miss Molly on top of the knights. But damn, J-M is to start. He gets Masquerade/Mountebank ... and ... yes, I can buy my beloved Dame Molly and two Masquerades to throw the junk of the mountebank back, right!
Well, let's see, what is wrong with this plan ...
1) There is no stuff to trash in the deck yet!
2) Where am I going to get money from ? Well, free coppers from the Mountebank of course </end sarcasm>
3) My Masquerades collide 2 times ...
As the VP chart shows, J-M starts racing quickly and I'm stuck behind with a card that hits nothing special. Is this the end of round 2 ... ?
And then, in the end, I pull off one of the biggest tricks ... I'm 7 behind, so I can't go out ... But then I masquerade over a curse (and don't get one back), swinging 2 points and buying the last Province.
I have no idea how I pulled this off, but my apologies were sent to my opponent.
why on earth would they add this line to the german rulebook when it's not correct?
Occasionally the rulebook is wrong, or something discovered/decided later causes them to update the rules.
The original rulebook is not the absolute and unchangeable Word of God. Particularly when it's been translated.
Maybe I'm football (i.e. 'soccer') and Europe biased but 5 teams is barely a league, at most a group, e.g. something to start a world cup tournament or champions league with.
The league would be comprised of many groups of 5 (or whatever number is ultimately picked)...unless I'm misunderstanding you.
It was mentioned as a good property of the format that the scheduling was comfortable because there was a 7 weeks window to schedule each match. Unless there is that time in between regular seasons, scheduling promotion matches would be more difficult, and for some unfortunate people, it may be exactly in their busy time (family vacations away from the computer, deadlines, whatever).
Making the gap longer makes this scheduling easier, but it also leaves a lot of people that do not play promotion matches without any kind of match for a long time. I would have each season starting immediately after the previous ended. Since there is a large time window to schedule matches, people that prefer to have breaks can have one or two weeks off and schedule their 7 matches in the rest of the window.
Also, the divisions shouldn't be A-B-etc. They should be
Platinum (8 players)
Gold (16 players)
Silver (32 players)
Copper (64 players)
Can anyone explain the difference between streaming and streaming to me?
Did you misspeak here? I'm not sure what you're asking. When I talk about streaming, it means that people are watching what I do and say live (with about a 20 second delay) and I can interact with them through the chat. For content: So far, most people have made videos and shown their approach to the actual game and talked about their strategies, but I've already encountered some criticism saying that some viewers regarded that as boring and preferred more of a popcorn dominion approach - whatever that exactly means - but your videos, AdamH, seemed to meet their taste. I must admit that I haven't watched many videos lately, so I don't really know what people tell when they record/stream (I will fix this.).
"Popcorn Dominion" videos. What that means to me is a video that's entertaining to watch, even for someone who isn't watching the video just to get better at the game. To make a contrast, WanderingWinder is really really good at the game and when I watch his videos I learn things, but a more casual player might not. If he gets an unfortunate draw, he rarely shows much emotion in the process. I'd like to think I'm OK at the game, so casual players may certainly get better watching my videos. But I try to make my videos somewhat entertaining by showing my sense of humor (which I realize isn't for everyone). I talk a lot more to the video so maybe it's a little more accessible, and if I get a bad draw I'll whine about it, which some people might think is funny. These are at least my thoughts.Maybe it's worth to consider a channel where several people contribute? Like someone taking over videos where the main focus is strategy (break that down into strategy for beginners, strategy for advanced etc.), others meeting the popcorn dominion audience, others meet the *insert other funny categories here* guys.
Is that what this was intended to be?
I am being slow-played RIGHT THIS VERY MOMENT, as I live and breathe.Similar experience before.
His Goko name is barry.
First he accused me of cheating, because I was making pretty good Wishing Well guesses. (I have two cards left in my deck, 2 of them are Copper, I guess Copper, and I am right... obviously I am cheating!)
I kindly explained to him how I was able to make pretty good (though well short of perfect) WW guesses. Well, now he is slow-playing me. Like, really really badly. Usually, people just give it up after like 2-3 turns of this, but he is absolutely committed to it.
I am loathe to give in to the Goko terrorists, so I guess I am going to play it out like this. I am so mad though.
He's ranked about 5200, so I would expect rational play.
