What card can Royal Carriage only call exactly once? (No Enchantress)

Do you mean replay?

And is it Farmer's Market, when the first play puts the fourth VP chip on the pile?

Tragic Hero

Not necessarily, if you play it originally with only one other card in hand. (e.g. Festival*3 then Tragic Hero)

If it ends up being a coincidence that so many of these matched the other rule, and there is no logical reason for it, I will be somewhat irked.

I don't understand numbers.
I thought I understood them, but I don't.
In this rule, I mean. I'm fairly good at mathematics.
There really is something strange about 0.

1
3
48848
48,848
1,729
1729
10^3+9^3=12^3+1^3=1729=thebestnumber
What is your favorite number?

That introduced a bunch more that didn't fit with my guess.

My guess had been that the number of characters in each word (including '?') had to be in either ascending or descending order.

It actually works for most of the answers here.

But then I found four (literally only four) that didn't work.

And now I have a few more that don't work with it.

Does 1 exist? Yes
Something strange about 0 No
Something strange about 0? No
What about l8ers? No

I have a guess but these four are the only ones that don't work with it.
(That's a no?)
So frustrating.
(That's a yes?)

Can I predict that this question will be a no?
And yes?

Apparently I didn't include the question mark?

I dunno why I am spelling out my thought proccess
It’s like I think this is co-op

That's how I've been treating it.
It makes me feel like I contributed even if I don't guess it.
For example, I was pleased when my a's helped silverspawn guess MiX's rule.
You can choose how to treat it, though.

If you like, silverspawn, you can treat those all as questions.

Does 1 count as a character for these purposes?

1 Do?
1 These?
1 All
1 Count?
1 As?
1 One?
1 Word?

I think I would have noticed the 1 - 4 - 9 square numbers thing too if I had gotten here in time.

Sorry if this is too hard to parse...
Well, mostly. I can't figure out the rules if I don't have data, so not really.
Yes, those were both questions. (and so is this.)
Maybe having other punctuation at the end does something, but maybe it doesn't!

Usually reading the FAQ in the rulebook (or the wiki) can sort these questions out.
However, I will admit that I have also gotten rules like this wrong in the past, although neither of these examples were solved by Dominion online. Rather, one was solved by buying another expansion, and the other by looking at the wiki.

Until I got Seaside and figured out that Durations are a thing, I thought Bridge acted like a Duration, making cards cost $1 less this round, instead of this turn. I got confused because of the wording distinction with Quarry (I got Prosperity before Seaside because it was recommended first), which said 'while this is in play'. I didn't realize the distinction was to prevent it from stacking when getting Throned, if such a card eventually came out for Treasures (which it did). Not even sure why I thought that; it wouldn't be good enough for $4, but I still bought it anyway because it seemed cool.

Also when I first got Adventures, I would always put out Peasant and Hireling because I loved those cards, and whenever I got Disciple, I would Disciple the Hireling, because it was a free extra Hireling play and extra Hireling card, without realizing the Disciple was supposed to stay out with the Hireling. WAY less overpowered that way, as Disciple takes a while to get.

Looking back, both of these could probably have been solved by looking at the FAQ, and both of the correct ways to play these cards made tracking a lot easier as well.

Is it a rule?
Rule?
A?
AA?
ABC?
123?
bla bla bla bla?
Those are some short words but maybe long words will work better because sometimes that happens and let's see if it's the case?
Or maybe this long word will work but it also could be a little difficult to parse because sometimes long words are like that and if so sorry?

Guess: if it's even, the number of letters (including question mark) must not be prime
This could be completely wrong, but it worked for a bunch of them.

Quote
Savings
$1
Action-Shelter
+$1
You may play a Savings from your hand.
------------
When you discard this from play, take 1 Debt, and then you may pay off debt.
Quote
Drought
$1
Action-Shelter
If you have an Estate set aside, then at the start of your next turn, put this into your hand.
Otherwise, gain an Estate, setting it aside.
-----------------
When you would trash this, discard it instead.
Savings is sort of a mini-Capital. You get two of these to reduce swinginess, guaranteeing either 1 on your $4 opening, or 2 on your $3 opening, or getting a $5 hand anyway. Similar to Baker's setup effect, but you have to pay it off later.

Drought is an annoyance. It is effectively removed from your deck if you can spend an action every turn. This encourages you to go for an engine. If you try to trash it with conventional means, though, it punishes you by putting it back in your deck for the next shuffle. The Estate is a tracking helper to make sure you can't remove it on your first turns.

Dominion General Discussion / Re: Can Patron ever be the bane card?

Until there's a card that says "Setup: All cards cost $1 less, but not less than $0."

Man that sounds like a bad card. It's almost like it says "This game, the carefully chosen and tested costs of cards that Donald and the playtesters figured out will not be used; but instead you will use different amounts that are trivially unbalanced with the way Dominion was designed."

Well, it's not as if the current Dominion is the perfect game and therefore anything that changes it makes it worse. A lot of card-shaped things change very fundamental things about the game and it still works in the presence of those card-shaped things, it's just different.

I agree with Awaclus. I think it would speed up the game, but not necessarily break it. Sure, it would be broken with certain cards, but most of the ways I can think of in which it would be broken are in the opening, which Baker already does with its starting Coffer, or in the endgame, which Canal already does.

Challenge: get enough points vs. Lord Rattington to overflow a 32-bit integer and see what happens with the ShuffleIt client.

Just use the Goons - Forum - Trader - Highway combo. The main challenge is persevering through the tedium of the loop.

What is the Goons - Forum - Trader - Highway combo? I don't think I've seen it before.
Edit: never mind, just spotted it.
5 Highways in play, at least one goon, buy forum, react with trader, forum gives + buy, repeat.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to ask this or not, but can you tell us whether the even/odd thing is specified in the rule or a by-product of the rest of the rule? Also, I'm going to try working on this again. I had given up, but I think taking a few days break could have helped.

Before nocturne prosperity was on the bottom for me. However Goons is one of my all time favorite cards. And monument, Bishop, mountebank, grand market and contraband are really cool. But that’s about it for that expansion. The rest of the cards are okay or mediocre at best in my opinion.

What about KC?

I'm against that. We've had previous questions that took a lot longer. I don't think I've spent enough time trying to figure this out to give up. The reason it's been three days is just that I haven't gone back to it since.

Oh, okay. I assumed everyone had given up, and if that was the case, I might as well just ask for the rule to be revealed. But since you're still guessing, that's fine. It wasn't so much the amount of time spent asking questions as the amount of time in which nobody had posted.
