Goko Dominion Online / Goko Offline
« on: May 16, 2013, 04:41:35 am »
It appears that Goko is doing some routine maintenance (that I'm pretty sure they didn't tell anybody about)- does anyone know how long these things usually take?? I'm meant to be playing by GokoDom Round 5 match in 20 minutes, guess that isn't happening unfortunately. :(

4953
It hasn't been sending messages at the end of the game, happened about 3 games consecutively.

4954
It says "Gain a Card" (which means from the Supply), and if curses have run out, they are no longer in the Supply, so you can't gain them.

Joseph2302 beats A Drowned Kernel 3-0

Joe goes for bishop/treasure map which is more sensible than my baron/p. stone.

Bandit Camp based engines. I totally forget how hermit and madman work, playing procession on them.

Familiar and Scrying Pool. Joe picks up multiple potions, which lets him overtake me pretty quickly. I waste my time with hunting grounds.

Thanks for the games, Joseph2302, and well played. I was playing very abysmally today, but I hope you had fun.

First game was very interesting, completely opposite strategies (deck-thinning against deck enlarging), was quite close.

Second game was quite close as well, definitely think tactician/madman was ultimately the thing that won it for me, winning on a treble province turn using it.

Third game A Drowned Kernel was pretty unlucky i think- I managed to draw 3 familiars in 1 turn with scrying pool, which basically tipped the game in my favour, and was probably very lucky.

Thanks for playing, A Drowned Kernel

The math is indeed screwy.  Make sure to account for Guilds as well.  It will probably cost as much or a little more than Alchemy.

Well if I buy 540 gokoins, this leaves me with 60 (+40 from helping on the beta), this should hopefully be sufficient for Guilds (as Alchemy is only 40).

Thanks for the help, I don't trust my adding abilities (I'm a mathematician).

Just want to check I can do the Maths of buying things on goko, and I correct in thinking if you buy the Super Packs 1+2 and dark ages separately, you get all the cards in the Mega Pack, but only pay 480 Gokoins, not 540? If so, there's something seriously wrong with the Goko purchase prices.

Innovation Game Reports / Tie In Innovation

http://innovation.isotropic.org/gamelog/201305/04/game-20130504-101751-432715db.html

Managed to tie on score an achievements, which seems reasonably unlikely (especially as our scores & number of achievements were non-zero). Never tied at Innovation before, wondering how often it actually occurs??

A good set of games, I think they were closer than the 3-0 suggests. I definitely think I played boring, reliable strategies (lots of witches, lots of minions), whereas Avin's strategies were more inventive and fancy. On another day they might have worked, but unfortunately not today. 3rd game was definitely horridly unlucky for Avin. Thanks for playing Avin. :)

And some charlatan is advertising a website for board game strategy.  This is an outrage! >:(

True, but theory is advertising a help website for the game, the other one is advertising some random TV program or something...

Your leader stays in play. Why wouldn't they?
Because the last turn, is technically Age IV, hence at the end of the game, Age IV ends and so I was thinking leaders from Age III die. Also, this is good to know, gets me some extra culture in a game I'm playing.

Rules Question: On end of game impacts, do they include bonuses of Age III leaders or not? Or do all leaders get discarded before doing end of game impacts?

i.e. Bill Gates gives extra resources, so are these resources counted in Impact of Industry?
i.e. Sid Meier increases culture, but decreases science, so would these changes be reflected if Impact of Science came up?

Joe having Holy War and 2x War over Culture declared on him at the same time was the greatest TTA moment I have experienced yet. http://www.boardgaming-online.com/index.php?cnt=202&pl=180027

That wasn't so fun, although I guess I had it coming, as I built no military :(

Was this implemented a while ago and I only noticed it now?

It's been available for at least a couple of weeks, and is amazingly useful.

You can rename the game.
I have now done that.
Also, before picking a name you can search for the substring "f.DS" in all games in progress or finished games.
I did check this before naming it, but still managed to stupidly give my game the wrong name!!

F.DS 34 has already finished a few days ago, actually.
well, the next F.DS 34 is up (apologies for the naming confusion).

Well, 29 is almost over (thank goodness, as I lost all my culture to wars against culture), anyone want to play a peace game for the next f.ds game??

4972

When an eleven is drawn, the player with the highest score wins.  In the case of a tie, tie goes to the player with the most achievements.  If it's still tied at that point, it's a draw (though IMO it would be better design for it to be a loss for the player who activated the dogma causing this, like a pokemon selfdestruct rule, but it is the way it is.)

damn, wish i had read this before trying to end a game with a 0-0 draw earlier (when opponent had monument) :(

they dont always want the shared effect, plus mathematics can power up your board ridiculously quickly- for example this insane game i just played (http://innovation.isotropic.org/gamelog/201304/04/game-20130404-065914-0c64a86f.html)!!

I'm sorry for managing to spend the whole game melding blue cards, then getting genetics to score them all and give you no hope http://innovation.isotropic.org/gamelog/201304/01/game-20130401-111346-26974496.html
