Dominion League / Rules question about extensions
« on: February 16, 2017, 05:06:34 am »
Are there any rules for being allowed to use unofficial extensions in League matches?

I know one of them reveals the Black Market deck, which seems like an unfair advantage for that player in a league match.

Rules Questions / Small Castle- Obliged to Trash?
« on: December 16, 2016, 04:52:47 pm »
If I play a Small Castle, am I obliged to trash something?

It says "Trash this or another Castle from your hand". So can I choose the "another castle from my hand" option, which means I trash nothing but don't get the effect?

Rules Questions / Summon & Villa
« on: December 12, 2016, 02:23:11 pm »
Am I correct in thinking if you summon a villa, it doesn't get set aside?

This is how the steps happen, can you confirm this is correct?

  • Player buys the event Summon
  • Player chooses Villa as the action card costing up to $4
  • Player gains Villa
  • As player gains villa, the on gain effect of Villa happens, so it goes into hand and isn't set aside
  • Summon tries to set aside the Villa but can't (lose track rule)

Tournaments and Events / European tournaments
« on: May 18, 2016, 09:14:26 am »
Are there any Dominion tournaments in (Western) Europe in 2016? I'd love to play in one, but the "British Dominion Championship" (which was 4p base games) isn't happening this year at UK Games Expo.

General Discussion / Poll inspired by Adam H's stream: Do you smoke?
« on: March 08, 2015, 08:43:50 pm »
So, on Adam H's stream, someone (Jsh?) hypothesised that a majority of people on here don't smoke. This poll was therefore created to consider this hypothesis. Note: only forum admin can see people's votes, so it's anonymous.

Joseph2302's Blitz Mafia Ruleset, with changes in PINK

The Golden Rule:
This is a game.  Everyone who signs up to play must be considerate of each other, never get personal, and focus on having fun.  Once the game starts, having signed up is a commitment; inactivity is just as inconsiderate as rude comments.  Read The Civility Pledge before signing up for this game.  If you have not /pledged there, you cannot play here.

The Standard Rules:
1.  No communication between players outside of the game thread or QTs at any time.  This includes passing references, jokes, or cases in other games or threads.
2.  If the game thread or QT is locked, do not post.  If you are unsure if something is locked, ask the mod by PM.
3.  Direct or verbatim quoting of mod-provided information is strictly forbidden.  Paraphrasing is okay.
4.  Town night actions must be submitted by PM to the mod within 24 hours of day's end.  The most recent order will always be valid.  There are no nights.
5.  Scum night actions must be submitted in QT within 24 hours of day's end.  Any team member may submit all night actions.  The most recent order(s) will always be valid.  There are no nights. Vengekill action must be done in 1 hour, else random towny is lynched instead.
6.  Players must post once every 24 hours.
7.  Do not edit or delete posts, ever.  If you need to clarify or correct something, post again.
8.  Invisible text, fonts size less than 8, and spoiler tags are not allowed.
9.  Cryptography is not allowed.
10.  The time between a lynch being reached and a flip being provided is called twilight.  All players may continue posting during this time, including the lynched player.
11.  Dead players may not post in thread or QT.  A lynched player is not "dead" until a flip has been provided.

The Voting Rules:
1.  Votes should be in this format: Vote: Playername. Similar syntaxes ARE accepted e.g Vote:Playername, Vote : Playername Unambigiuous nicknames are acceptable, including obvious spelling mistakes.
2.  Unvotes should be in this format: unvote or Unvote: Playername.
3.  Unvotes are not required if changing your vote from one player to another.
4.  You may vote: no lynch if you prefer.  No lynch is not an option.  Most votes at deadline dies; ties are decided using most unique votes i.e. how many different people have voted for the player during that day. If there's still a tie, the person (out of those in the tiebreak) who was voted for most recently will be lynched.
5.  Lynches occur when a simple majority (rounded up) of living players is reached.  Once reached, a lynch cannot be undone.

The Deadlines:
1.  Days will last 1 consecutive 24-hour period.
2.  Nights will last two consecutive 24-hour periods.  There are no nights.
3.  Adjustments may be made to ensure days do not start or end on a Friday or Saturday.  No adjustments will be made.
The Rest:
1.  Bold, pink text is reserved for the Mod(s).  Players may not use them.
2.  If you have an issue or problem with the game, please PM the Mod.  Do not post complaints in the game thread.
3.  Mods make mistakes - please point them out gently.  If they can be corrected, they will.  If irreversible, they will stand as final to be commiserated over after the game.
4.  If a mod error disadvantages one faction greatly, the game may be called off.
5.  Bold all in-thread Mod questions and requests so that they don’t get missed.
6.  Prods of inactive players will be issued automatically after 48 hours.  A prodded player has 12 hours to respond or risks replacement. No prods, no replacements.
7.  Players may request a prod after 24 hours without a post.
8.  A player who has been prodded 3 times is subject to replacement without further notice.
9.  In reference to 6-8, "inactive" is defined as not having posted in the game thread AND not having provided notice in the VLA Thread.
10.  All rule violations will be dealt with according to their severity, as determined by the mod.
11. Start date TBC, PMs will be sent 1-2 days beforehand. You may request a start date, but ultimately it's the mod's decision.

Help! / Sea Hag vs Trashing
« on: November 04, 2014, 09:16:19 am »

Code: [Select]
Vagrant, Horse Traders, Mining Village, Sea Hag, Horn of Plenty, Market, Trading Post, Upgrade, Altar, Farmland
http://www.gokosalvager.com/static/logprettifier.html?20141104/log.5062f3dc51c3843e7939eb9f.1415110293517.txt

So, I looked at the board, saw sea hag, but saw lots of trashing, especially Upgrade, which I thought was a good counter to sea hag (since if you get hagged with upgrade in hand, you can just draw that curse). I know upgrade is slightly weaker with shelters, as Upgrading shelters give estate/vagrant, whereas upgrading estates gives silvers, but I didn't think it was that important. However, I lost comfortably.

Was my thinking wrong, or just the execution/luck? Or would trading post have been better, even though it was terminal?

Rules Questions / End of Possession Turn
« on: June 16, 2014, 05:11:15 am »
After you possess someone, and the turn finishes, should you be able to see their next hand? On Dominion Online you can, but was not sure if that was an error or not (I've never played Possession IRL, so not had to think about this)?

Dominion League / Season one - Streaming For Dominion League
« on: May 19, 2014, 04:42:34 am »
Sorry to create yet another thread, but I thought it would be good to have a place on here for people to list when/where they're streaming League games, as I guess quite a few people will do it.

I'm streaming D6 league match tonight, 2000 UK time (1500 EDT, 1200 PDT) against Tables- should be a good game, as we're friends/frenemies/ex-housemates :) twitch.tv/joseph2302

Goko Dominion Online / Goko down... for 10-15 hours???
« on: February 27, 2014, 12:13:46 pm »
https://www.facebook.com/DominionOnline?ref=ts&fref=ts

Apparently, Goko is doing some apparently great repair, so won't be available for 10-15 hours. Seriously, that's a long time, it had better be worth it- not expecting it will be though.

Game Reports / Soothsayer vs Witch
« on: July 12, 2013, 05:52:51 pm »
http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130712/log.5062f3dc51c3843e7939eb9f.1373665679764.txt

This game seemed to have the choice of 2 cursers- Soothsayer or Witch. Having not played soothsayer much, I wasn't sure which was better, but thought the golds might be helpful. Seems I won easily, so makes me wonder whether Soothsayer is actually much better than Witch, when Witch is a pretty good curser? Or was it just good shuffle luck- I seemed to play my Soothsayer more often than his Witch, probably due to my Warehouses and spying away his Witch at least once.

Innovation Game Reports / Industrialisation
« on: July 06, 2013, 10:08:11 am »
http://innovation.isotropic.org/gamelog/201307/06/game-20130706-070621-5f015bbd.html

I knew industrialisation was powerful, but this was ridiculous! I was definitely behind, but got industrialisation and managed to get lots of acheivements quickly to win. This makes me think, is industrialisation TOO powerful??

Game Reports / Is Masterpiece the Best Feodum Enabler?
« on: June 14, 2013, 07:57:47 am »
http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130614/log.5062f3dc51c3843e7939eb9f.1371210846545.txt

35 silvers in 21 turns is pretty quick, was wondering how well this compares to Trader, which is generally considered the best Feodum enabler?

Seems like a pretty good way to score big points quickly, by using large overpayments.

Thoughts anyone?

Goko Dominion Online / Goko Offline
« on: May 16, 2013, 04:41:35 am »
It appears that Goko is doing some routine maintenance (that I'm pretty sure they didn't tell anybody about)- does anyone know how long these things usually take?? I'm meant to be playing by GokoDom Round 5 match in 20 minutes, guess that isn't happening unfortunately. :(

Goko Dominion Online / Buying Goko Sets
« on: May 09, 2013, 10:41:12 am »
Just want to check I can do the Maths of buying things on goko, and I correct in thinking if you buy the Super Packs 1+2 and dark ages separately, you get all the cards in the Mega Pack, but only pay 480 Gokoins, not 540? If so, there's something seriously wrong with the Goko purchase prices.

Innovation Game Reports / Tie In Innovation

http://innovation.isotropic.org/gamelog/201305/04/game-20130504-101751-432715db.html

Managed to tie on score an achievements, which seems reasonably unlikely (especially as our scores & number of achievements were non-zero). Never tied at Innovation before, wondering how often it actually occurs??

Rules Questions / Bane Card + Potion Cards
« on: January 16, 2013, 05:48:58 am »
Young Witch requires a bane card, which costs $2 or $3. Am I right in assuming you should NOT be allowed to have a potion cost card (e.g. alchemist) as the bane, as it doesnt cost $2/$3 but $2 + potion or $3 + potion?? (wanted to check the rules before mentioning that goko just chose alchemist as a bane)

Game Reports / Winning with a 4-card deck

http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/21/game-20121221-170417-9eb9270e.html

End of the game, had 4 cards in my deck (plus 10 came back from my island mat), definitely one of my oddest wins!!
