Salt the Earth/Crumbling Castle
Would you like your Silver to come with 2 VP?
Strictly better Harem?
Just had a game where I got King's Court and Witch from the Black Market. I gave him all 10 Curses within 4 turns. He was making some bad choices, but man, I still felt bad for him. I also got Ghost Ship from the BM, as if that wasn't bad enough. At least the game was over fast.
That video is obviously a joke. Like, extremely obvious. I'm concerned by the number of people who don't realize.
It seems like when I play Dominion Online, I'm in one of two modes- either I'm winning 75% of my games, or I'm losing all my games. It's sometimes hard to figure out which mode I'm in, but right now I'm pretty positive that I'm in the latter. Has anything similar happened to you? Do you think people tend to play worse when they're on losing streaks? Just curious.
The Lord will return and be stronger than ever...
Borrow, surely:
Harvest is really good for getting coins but the reason I hate it is because you have to discard the cards
Cycling is a boon in itself; topdecking all the cards in any order would make Harvest worse. And keeping the cards would get it into $7-8 territory, you certainly didn't mean that.
If you're drawing your deck, there's no particular reason to have Baker. Well, except as an expensive Peddler, if that's what you need.
Where I've found Baker really useful is in getting the spikes I need around T5-8. If I want an early Province for Tournament, or I want an Inheritance, a few coin tokens make me a lot more confident.
Trouble is, Baker costs $5, whereas Candlestick Maker is a $2 which is almost as good for that purpose.
My favorite is Basetriguesidechemritopinterarkagildsenturiresurnomos.
Isn't it easier to build a deck that can draw the Develops you already have than to build a deck that can consistently hit $5 to Summon new ones?
Once you get enough Develops in your deck, yeah, but given the Kingdom I didn't want to Develop any coppers (because that would take forever), and I didn't want to Develop any 3s (because there was no playable 2). I had forgotten that there actually was + action (Farming Village) but no +buys and the only real draw was Storyteller, which without Copper trashing is often more of a sifter than a drawer. Jack was a gainer that definitely helped mitigate the siftiness of a Coppered Storyteller, but yeah, it was hard to build this one from the ground up with Develop, IMO.
Summon/Develop just built on itself well for a shuffle or two, I think I did it 4 times and then just rolled with the Develops I had.
A few comments and photos...
I like the coffers mat. But I like mats in general. Maybe that's because we play on a rug with a lot of texture, and it would be easy to lose coin or victory tokens otherwise. I'd use a debt mat if there was one. If I was playing at a table, I might not use mats at all. But I have kids. They like playing on the floor.
The coin tokens are shiny, so camouflage hasn't been a problem for us:
As for the word "coffers," maybe it's awkward but my five-year-old (who can barely read but has every card from every expansion memorized based on the artwork) loves it. He instituted the house rule "when you get a coffers, cough". Play butcher; cough twice.
Here's the bane card, which I didn't realize was new since I've never seen the original Guilds & Cornucopia (except on Shuffle iT):
