breppert:  Yeah, the only reasonable explanation is that he just does not see CoTR
Dan Brooks:  It's an anti-terminal splitter Taco
daavor:  sounds yummy
Dan Brooks:  I get one every time I got to taco bell
breppert:  I'm gonna head to Costco to get tacos right after this now, thanks Dan
Dan Brooks:  Ship some to me @Breppert
daavor:  is that a vacuous truth dan?
Dan Brooks:  @Daavor yes
Seprix:  I'm getting tacos after this now
daavor:  man i should get tacos

We will henceforth remove Village from our vocabulary, and replace it with Taco.

I would have been able to build a solid engine, but there weren't any Tacos.

Dominion: Nocturne Previews / Re: Is there any update on Nocturne?

But noooooo, big boxes look better on shelves. Gotta have that big box!

I'm falling for this so much. Big box = more value for your money. Even better if the game is heavy.

Metal tokens for the win!

Cards that have the power to provide net +Action, but don't always, are pseudo-villages.  Throne Room variants, Ironmonger, Herald, Summon, Prince, can accomplish this.  It could be stretched to include Squire and Trusty Steed, since they don't need any help to provide net +Action.
By my understanding, Splitter means something that doesn't provide +Action, but helps prevent terminal collision: stuff like Scheme, Haven, or Save.

Librarian Strike
Event
Cost: $10

Shuffle the Supply into a single pile.  Redistribute this pile face down into 16 Supply piles, and then turn these piles face up  (so that you don't know what's under the top card of each).

So the game ends because the Province pile empties momentarily.

Dominion Articles / Re: Common Skill "Plateaus" in Mastering Dominion

Somewhere in the 7000 range is knowing where certain decks and deck matchups are going to end up at the end of the game.  Hearing someone say, "This game will take 11-13 turns" always blows me away.

When you consider "throne", "king", "crown", "disciple", "procession", "chapel", "bonfire", "farmland", "ironworks", "workshop", and "alms" to be verbs.

When you internally groan when hearing about a country Rebuilding after a disaster.

At least once I have played Hermit/Market Square in an online game, and read the wiki article while playing.  Having all the information compiled into one place is much easier than reading an article on the Forum and all its replies.

I hope this was against Lord Rattington, not a human opponent! Though Lord Rattington does not need any further handicaps.

This was against a human.  While it was probably not the most optimal decision, I thought attempting the combo would be a good learning experience.

please leave strategy on the wiki.
wikis are so much less intimidating than forums.
to someone that knows zero strategy, the wiki level of strategy still will get them thinking in new directions, even if it is a bit out of date.

This.

Compare the way Feast and Mining Village work when Throned.  Feast you get the two $5 cards, Mining Village you only get +$2 because it has the "if you do" clause.

36
Any cantrip is reasonable in a pool deck. Just play race first.
Of course, but then if your opponent has an expensive card on top you can't use the spy attack on pool to help. Not to mention the fact that you don't always start with a race in your opening hand. I mean you'll still be relatively happy to pick a few races with spare buys in a pool game but there's certainly some annoying anti-synergy there.

pool + race only works if you have cards left in your deck after playing pool, which isn't always the case.  If you've trashed all your starting cards and have nothing but actions in your deck, the anti-synergy is certainly there.

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but gaining Sir Martin with Messenger is nice.

Dominion General Discussion / Re: Heirloom Speculation
« on: September 27, 2017, 01:41:27 pm »
Heirlooms could be just like Coppers early in the game but different later. For example

Quote
+1$
Count your discard pile. If there are at least 15 cards in it, +1$

or

Quote
+1$
+1$ per unique cost among Action cards you have in play

or

Quote
+1$
+1$ for each Province missing from the supply

The great thing about these is that for the first few turns (usually), they still give +$1, like Copper.  When shelters came in, they didn't change the buying power first two turns much, so I would imagine Heirlooms will do the same.

39
My opponent is currently making use of Stonemason / Grand Market.  Have $8 on the table, buy Stonemason, and pick of two GMs, bypassing the Copper restriction.

Dominion Online at Shuffle iT / Re: Thoughts on Etiquette Blog Article?
« on: September 25, 2017, 05:59:28 pm »
Regarding pre and post game comments (gl, gg, etc) there is such a wide diversity of opinions in the community that I would not presume to write an article describing the "correct" etiquette for these.  It's too much of a minefield.
Agreed.

1) Is this a worthwhile endeavor? If so, is the blog the right place for it, given that this would be primarily about online etiquette? Would this be better suited to the ShIt forum?
An article of the sort would be useful, especially for new players.

3) Should the article be descriptive or prescriptive? Is it enough to try to cover the current etiquette landscape and present varying perspectives on each of the items listed above? Or should it (with well-researched input from the f.ds community) be an attempt to shape online etiquette? Is it naïve to think this community could try to establish its own set of standards? To what degree is that already happening?
I prescribe making it largely descriptive, including a variety of opinions, including your own.

Dominion Articles / Re: Cartographer vs. Forum
« on: September 24, 2017, 10:44:51 pm »
By themselves, I would say Forum is better, because it discards from your hand rather than your deck.  If the top three cards are Gold, Forum puts all of them into your hand.

Cartographer relies on combos, like you said, making it more viable in certain kinds of engines.

Dominion General Discussion / Re: The Value of Loan
« on: September 24, 2017, 07:28:00 pm »
It's a solid light trasher in Big Money games.  It doesn't take up terminal space, so Smithy/Loan is usually better than Smithy/Silver.  In engines, Loan is probably too slow and too limited.

This seems precisely backwards.  It's rarely worth it to trash Copper in money strategies, and Loan is especially poor at Copper trashing in a deck that has a bunch of treasures that you want to keep.  But, sometimes, Loan is the only/best way to get rid of your starting Copper, and the engine is improved by eliminating the Copper.  If you can get by without buying any other treasures, you can even feel good about buying Loan.

Forager is much better than Loan.  It isn't even close.  Does any Loan-lover want to play a match where Loan and Forager are always in the kingdom, I can't buy Loan, and you can't buy Forager?

I think Loan is slow enough that it's fine in BM, unlike Chapel.  When it's the only trasher, it's better than no trashing.  As a whole, Forager is better, but only because it can do more than just trash Copper.

Loan as a trasher is better than Forager, although Forager can be used as a payload.

Just played a game where the only village was a Prince'd Baker. So I Prince'd a Bridge, then a couple Bakers (and some Giants).

Did your opponent buy 6 Provinces in the time you bought 6 Princes?

I use this website all the time to see where I'm going to be after the next leaderboard update.

I think it would be helpful to have your current rank on the learderboard displayed on your page.  I know this is available elsewhere, but if you want all the ranking information in one place, that would be included.

My favorite is Capital.  You get a massive benefit right now, and if you make good use of it, you come out way ahead, and if you don't, you're behind.  Much better theme than Loan.

Rules Questions / Order of operations with Young Witch

If Young Witch is in the kingdom, are Colony/Platinum and Shelters determined before or after the Bane is added?  Also, could the Bane card be chosen by Obelisk?

Dominion General Discussion / Re: Heralds are not so hot as we thought?

And think about everything Dark Ages introduced, that doesn't see much action now, like Hermit/Madman and the empty-the-supply-really-fast tricks.  Heralds are, still, a useful source of +Action when solid trashing is available.

Didn't Villa help bring the empty-the-supply tricks down to like Turn 1? But even then, all the new tricks basically try to speed up the empty-the-supply shell that started with Dark Ages right?

Also, I still think Urchin/Mercenary is nuts.
You're entirely right.  The point is, much of Dark Ages, just like Herald, has been left in the dark (ages) with newer cards that can empty the supply faster.
