I think Hunting Party was the lucky guess - that allowed me to narrow it down to just Sorcerer / Sorceress / Royal Carriage.

Are we submitting the 5 guesses all at once?
I'm happy for you to submit guesses for individual properties (eg "A is Expansion") and I'll confirm or reject them. I might even provide a counter-example for incorrect guesses, but I think you want to minimise the number of incorrect guesses, rather than using them to get info.

It was Ruined Village. Though I think Ruined Market and Abandoned Mine would probably have scored all-green also.

I have a new card (randomlised). Changing Types to Triggers, ignoring on-play triggers except to distinguish between playable and unplayable cards.

Which one of these is a Schelling Point?
  • The option that most people will pick.
  • The most logically distinct option.
  • This option.
  • A fictitious marsupial that lives underwater.

Right, but I don't think asking "which of these is the shelling point" means literally "what will most of you pick", but rather "what is the most logical distinct option"
Ok, yeh, I haven't come across Schelling Point until today. I would say 4+2 is the most logically distinct, yes. Including "5" in the question is weird though.

Well that shows that 83% of people did one of the following:
  • Used "5" to rule out 4+2
  • Thought that other people would use "5" to rule out 4+2
  • Thought that other people would think that other people would use "5" to rule out 4+2
  • Thought that other people would think that other people would think that other people would use "5" to rule out 4+2
  • ...
  • Didn't notice the "5".

the reason why I don't buy that is because of the "5". Without the "5" comment, you have the value of the sum as one property of many. But with the "5" comment, we are explicitly being told that the sum is the important property, and that property splits our data set 3:1.
It splits the data set 3:1, but I think >75% of people will use that information to rule out 4+2.

With regards to the question, I am inclined to pick 2+3 as the Schelling point because
  • as Awaclus said, it is the most even distribution
  • all the other sums lead with the bigger integer, which is unnatural when you write a sum
  • I have to assume that the extra prompt "5" is there for a reason
  • I am naturally inclined to associate 2+3 more strongly with 5 because my birthday is May 23.
I think I would also pick 2+3, mostly because of the even distribution. Also because it is first on the list.
However I feel it is more natural to lead with the bigger integer (i.e. if 3+2 were an option I would pick that ahead of 2+3).

I haven't read everything here, but doesn't Schelling Point depend a lot (or actually entirely?!) on the target audience. I see the logic in going for 4+2, but I don't think it is a logic that appeals to society in general.

Anyone think we could retire this thread and just keep Quardle going? We don’t have multiple guessers per day anymore… But I’m good either way, retire or not.
Fine to keep this for anyone who wants a one-off game, rather than the ongoing Quardle thing.

Or for experimentation.

On which note, here's a crazy experiment. My card is Smithy; what five properties am I using to score your guesses? (I will call them A, B, C, D, E for now!)

Racecourse
$5 Action
Equipment: Floodlights
+1VP
Gain two Horses.
You may equip your Floodlights.

Floodlights
$0 Night-Equipment

+3 Cards
Discard down to 3 cards in hand and ignore any further +Cards you get this turn.
You may play Action cards in your Night phase this turn.
Floodlights seems like a good way to make use of Action cards in the Night phase. Even if you use it just to play a couple Racecourses, it seems well worth it as a way to make them nonterminal. OTOH, I don't see why it has to be at night. It's effect is like giving a few Villagers that only work with certain Action cards, which is fine but a little weird. (I'm assuming that the Action cards you play at night don't cost an Action to play, but the wording isn't clear about that. You might want to clarify.)

Cool. Thanks for your thoughts and judging.
Yes, the idea is that you don't use Actions to play the Action cards at night. And maybe it would work without the Night mechanism, but I like the weirdness/awkwardness/situationalness of only some things being worth doing at night time. (And it was just flavour driven once I'd decided I wanted my equipment to be called Floodlights!)

Tenant
$2+ Action - Command

Play a non-Command Action card from the trash and return it to the Supply.
----
When you buy this, you may overpay for it. At the start of your next turn, for each $1 you overpaid, +1 Coffers and trash an Action card from the Supply.

FAQ:
  • Tenant can play a Duration card, in which case the Tenant stays in play for as long as the Duration card would have stayed in play.
  • When you overpay, there is nothing officially to remind you to do things at the start of your next turn. In practice, you can set aside the appropriate number of Coffers as a reminder.

Tenant is a mirror image to Overlord in many ways:
  • Overlord is good while good cards are in the Supply; Tenant is good while good cards are in the trash.
  • Overlord you don't need any cash up-front to buy it, but you go into debt; Tenant you often want to pay a lot when you buy it, but then you still have most of that money as Coffers. Overpaying helps everyone else's Tenants too, but the Coins->Coffers conversion makes it feel good.

"After this turn" is after game ending conditions are checked, so it is not so easy to just buy a Tenant to 3-pile while you're ahead. It also means that the Coins->Coffers exchange is ok even with the new rule of cashing in Coffers any time.

Doing stuff (in this case trashing) when it's not anyone's turn isn't great, but, meh, I like my card so I'm going to ignore that unless I can think of something better.

Thought of something better - do the trashing and Coffers at the start of your next turn. This also makes it more likely you'll be the first player to have access to the cards you trash.

21st Apr EDITED some of my thoughts, but left the card unchanged.
21st Apr EDITED again - changed the "when buy" part to do things at the start of your next turn, instead of after this turn. Added FAQ.

Floodlights can be really useful at night time, depending on the kingdom. Some kingdoms won't have much that you want to do in your Night phase, but there will be Racecourse at least.

Is there any way to lose Well Served, or do all players have it for the whole game?

Matchmaker
Action - $3
+2 Cards
You may play a Paired card.
______
Setup: Add 2 Action supply piles to the Kingdom. These are the "Paired" cards, and you may play a copy of one after playing a copy of the other.

So basically if the Paired cards are Village and Smithy, you may play a Smithy, then play a Village (without costing an Action), then play a Smithy and so on. Kind of like Sauna and Avanto.

You don't need to play a Matchmaker to chain the cards - it's just a cheap Lab that only works with certain cards.
I wanted to do something like that for this contest (I'm a fan of Sauna-Avanto), but couldn't figure a way of doing it without too much text. Looks like you've found a way.
Now, if one of the Paired piles is Sauna/Avanto...

Well done. I suppose it is obvious from the types and expansion answers. It doesn't have to be 1st edition Intrigue though does it? Duchy and Harem are present in both editions I think.

I think I know yours, so I'd better come up with a new card so that I'm allowed to guess... but as we head into the weekend shall we take a break, maybe resume next week?

My guess: King's Court

And for my new card I'm going to stick with the same properties.

Trading Vessel
$4 Action-Duration-Liaison

Now and at the start of your next turn: +$2 and +1 Buy. Until then, when another player plays a Raft card they get +1 Favor.
----
Setup: Add an extra Action card pile to the Supply. Cards from that pile are Raft cards.

It's a cheaper Merchant Ship that lets other players get Favors.
