Wow, that came out a bit overdramatic, font-wise, but I'm leaving it.

I thought it was an awesome reply... because... there it is in plain sight and yet I could not see it.  Thanks for the answer though.

I encountered a game where a player said the endgame was as soon as a end game condition was met.
So for example the player bought the last Province, but could have bought 1 more Victory Point (an Estate).
This resulted in a tie (as it was an equal number of turns for both tied players).  Player would have bought an Estate, thus securing an outright win.
The clarification I am hoping for (can someone point to it in the Wiki somewhere also) is
- Does a player play out their turn in an endgame situation?

Rules Questions / Clean-up order of operations
« on: December 13, 2018, 01:59:42 pm »
There are 3 cards that have the phrase '...At the start of Clean-up...' and I am trying to determine if the order of play of 3 three cards matters (may involve some Lost Cards rules).

Improve
"+2 Coins
At the start of Clean-up, you may trash an Action card you would discard from play this turn, to gain a card costing exactly +1 Coin more than it."

Scheme
"+1 Card
+1 Action
At the start of Clean-up this turn, you may choose an Action card you have in play. If you discard it from play this turn, put it on your deck."

Walled Village
"+1 Card
+2 Actions
At the start of Clean-up, if you have this and no more than one other Action card in play, you may put this on top of your deck."

What is the best order of 'Clean-up'? Note: All 3 cards have been played (and are still in my play area).
Is the 'Clean-up' rule still 'in effect', even if the card that I 'trash' and/or 'discard' (due to discarding for clean-up purposes), so that Walled Village's 'Clean-up' rule is now 'valid' since I no longer have 3 'Action' cards 'in play' (since I either discarded or trashed one of the 3 cards)?

Additionally, can the Trash pile be 're-ordered' by any player at any time during the game (to improve speed of game play for when you have to go through the trash, although I cannot cite an example here).

Thanks

Although I have another follow-up related question.

Why are these mats called "Victory token player mat" and not "Victory Points token player mat"? Sorry that terminology just bugs me.
Thanks

While I can see what changed in the rules about the VP player mat, I am curious as to how the changes were 'important', as the only difference I can detect is that putting VP on a mat is not 'required'
Thanks Watno for noticing my error and correcting the thread to be about the VP player mat.

Related question; does second edition Prosperity still have mats? I don't see any mention of it on the Wiki. Empires does not have mats; right? Which would imply that Donald decided that VP tokens don't need mats; and thus why bother having mats in second edition Prosperity?

Actually it was an important rules change that Empires didn't have mats. Or to put it more accurately, it was an important rules change that VP tokens are not put on a mat. Instead, you take VP tokens (and then might put them optionally on something like for instance a VP token mat). That rules change mattered for the version of Possession introduced in Empires.

But then Possession was changed again, so it doesn't matter anymore.

But Prosperity was released in the meantime. I checked now, and yes Prosperity 2E does come with the 8 mats. But the rules for the mats are changed.
Prosperity 1E:
This expansion comes with 8 player mats and VP tokens for use with the Bishop, Goons, and Monument Kingdom cards. [...] A player takes a mat of his choice as soon as he needs one.
"+X VP" - The player takes X VP tokens. [...] When a player first takes VP tokens, he takes a player mat to put them on.

Prosperity 2E:
Prosperity has player mats for tracking VP tokens. You do not have to use one; if you do, take one when you first have VP tokens.
Cards say "+1 VP" (or other amounts) to indicate that a player takes VP tokens.

Feedback / Forum vs Wiki Talk
« on: December 12, 2018, 04:09:17 pm »
Is it better to have a conversation about the Wiki details in the Forum (if so where is the best spot for them) or should they be put into the Wiki Talk section (and exactly how to I use the Wiki talk anyways)?
Thanks

Dominion General Discussion / Why 8 Trade Route player mats for 6 players
« on: December 12, 2018, 04:01:19 pm »
While compiling a list of 'materials' I noticed that there were 8 Trade Route player mats, but that it is recommended that only up to 6 players for Dominion.  Was this just an oversight? Has this been discussed anywhere?

Apologies - I meant '8 VP player mats'

Dominion General Discussion / Re: Best custom Kingdom Set

I guess what I am hoping to find is a better rating system for sets that people have played.  So maybe a randomizer that will only be allowed to be used IF you have 'rated' the previous randomized set that was generated.

Dominion General Discussion / Re: 2nd Edition - New cards only

So how does the revised cards get broken down.   Yes I know this is a odd request, but I suspect someone has 'organized' these stats already.
1. All of the cards that - updated format from 1st edition, including ANY re-wording/font changes
2. All of the cards that - updated format from 1st edition, including ANY re-wording/no font changes
3. All of the cards that - updated format from 1st edition, including non-gender rewording (These are the ones I most like will have to figure out how to get copies of without order a complete 2nd edition version)
4. All of the cards that - updated format from 1st edition, including gender only rewording
5. List of cards from non-updated sets that will be revised for any of the above 4 questions

Dominion General Discussion / Best custom Kingdom Set

I cannot seem to find a good source for popular recommend custom Kingdom sets, especially those with with high votes.
Is it worth posting the sets that I have played with my own sets that I have played with the score outcomes, and my personal rating of the set?

Dominion General Discussion / Bane Marker

Hello, hello

I noticed that there was a new item added called the "Bane Marker".  Can someone add this detail to the Wiki? Or I am willing to do this myself if someone sends me an image of what the Bane Marker looks like.  Thanks.

Dominion General Discussion / Replacing Dominion cards
« on: December 03, 2018, 08:40:20 am »
Hello, hello

I have a few cards that have been damaged or lost.  I would like to replace them without buying a whole new set.  Where can I obtain these replacement cards?

Thanks

In the Watchtower wiki Official Rules it states '... You may reveal Watchtower whether you gained the card due to buying it...'

Does that mean if a player has multiple buys, for each 'buy' that player can 're-reveal' the Watchtower card and decide whether to '...to either trash that card or put it onto your deck...'?

Additionally, if I buy a card that has a 'Trashing' effect, do I get the effect of the card that I just gained?  Example: Urchin, can I immediately trash the Urchin to get the Mercenary?

Dominion Strategy Wiki Feedback / Re: Ambassador wiki

Could someone recommend how to rephrase this strategy statement so that it is clear on what the strategy is trying to present?
I can edit the wikipage if I know how to rephrase that sentence.

Dominion Strategy Wiki Feedback / Ambassador wiki
« on: June 12, 2017, 02:54:42 pm »
Wiki states '... Ambassadoring the Coppers decreases the chance your opponent will Ambassador you two Estates while increasing your own chances for the same...'

I read this as I would get 2 Estates.  But is the intent of the statement that the opponent will return 2 Estates to the Supply so that you would get 1 Estate?

-Thanks

Dominion General Discussion / Re: REQ: Cost math tables
« on: June 12, 2017, 02:41:22 pm »
I'm not sure what you are asking for here? Is it just a list of costs for every card based on the number of Bridges played / Highways in play / Bridge Trolls in play, etc?

Exampe: Sabateur: Each other player reveals cards from the top of his deck until revealing one costing 3 Coin or more. He trashes that card and may gain a card costing at most 2 Coins less than it.

That phrase '... at most 2 Coins less than...' is too 'mathy' for me.  I need a table that says
Trash 6, gain a 4 card?
Trash a 3 Potion, can I get a 3 only, or does it require a Potion to be in the cost.

But there are a lot of other 'in it's cost' phrases' in other cards (like bridges), and what if I have 2 bridges, reduced by 2 and not 1 (but not less than zero).  I think a table form would work for me but I will take what I can get for help

Dominion General Discussion / REQ: Cost math tables
« on: June 12, 2017, 01:40:46 pm »
Hello, hello

Well as much as I enjoy Dominion, there is one place that I still struggle.. simple cost reduction math, including Potions and now Debt.

is there a table out there for each 'cost reduction' type that will help us understand a little better, what we are allowed to do?

-Thanks

Variants and Fan Cards / Re: A Dominion Fan Card Creation Guide

Hello, hello

Maybe I missed it in this thread, but is there a source template for us to use for the card back and front design?

My son is a graphics design student and I am hoping to interest him in the game by having him design a few 'Fan cards' that I created.

Introductions / Re: Hello, hello

Hi and welcome!

We're fighting over terminologies quite often here, but we mostly mean well so don't be discouraged!

I will never be discouraged.  I appreciate feedback (both good and bad).  My philosophy is that when I am 'wrong', then I probably did not know or understand something, thus I have gained information (both good and bad).  I am just honored to get any reply at all.

Let's Discuss ... / Let's Discuss Cornucopia Prize: Trusty Steed
« on: May 31, 2017, 01:00:15 pm »
Hello, hello
The Trusty Steed is the only 'Deck discarder' that does not have the 'may' option in the '...deck into your discard pile...'  I am guessing that most players would want to put the 4 Silvers into their deck, but I am curious why not include 'may' as an option?  Or is there just never a reason to not discard my deck into the discard to get access to my pile?
-Thanks

Rules Questions / Re: Gaining, with nothing to Gain
« on: May 31, 2017, 12:32:22 pm »
When a player (either your or another player) attempts to Gain a card, and if there are no cards to Gain, do I still get the benefit of the Gain?
My guess is no, and this question may just be an unlikely scenario in gameplay.
Please be way way more specific.

My apologies.  I was thinking there could have been 'gain' benefit, but I could not find a specific scenario that would create this condition.  It seemed possible that a player would gain a card, but that card would not longer be available to gain and not be able to use the 'gain advantage'.  So disregard the question. (unless master players could think of a situation where my question would still be likely scenario.

And if there is a 'rule' that covers this scenario, please post the link to the rule or clarification (if there is one).
Again, if this has already been posted in a different thread, please post that thread link (if there is one).

Also I appreciated the tolerance of my 'newbieness' of my posts.

Rules Questions / Reaction cards
« on: May 31, 2017, 09:55:15 am »
Hello, hello

I need a clarification of how Reaction cards are 'activated'.  This may be an unrealistic scenario, but I still want to understand the intent of the Reaction card.

If a player plays an Attack card, but the 'attack' does not negatively impact me (such as a player attacking me with attempting to give me a Curse card, but the Curse pile is empty), do I still gain the benefit of having the Reaction card?

And if there is a 'rule' that covers this scenario, please post the link to the rule or clarification.
Again, if this has already been posted in a different thread, please post that thread link.

-Thanks
