Dominion General Discussion / Re: Cornucopia & Guilds 2E
« on: March 26, 2024, 07:15:03 pm »
Cornucopia & Guilds second edition is coming! It's the original two small expansions in one box, with replaced cards like the other second editions. We expect the physical version in mid-March. You will be able to get just the new cards as a 100-card update pack. We expect previews online, possibly from March 11-13. After that we expect the new expansion Rising Sun in April or May; the art for it is still not all in.

" ... We expect previews online, possibly from March 11-13 ...".  Any updates on a physical cards release date?

" ... I will know more in say February ... "

Any more to say about the details?

Has anyone created an online randomizer that includes new sets and update packs?

Availability updates?

Yes my patience gets tested with each new tease of another expansion.  I posted the first one awhile ago stating 'Jan 1, 2022' release date,
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BMM56M88?tag=itemtext-boardgamegeek-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1
now there is a 2nd option for less
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BMM56M88/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A33BUW0UC6W05V&psc=1
and a 3rd for a lot less (but no delivery date, but does have a 3 - 10 day delivery window.

As I tend to rarely trust reliable resources for my Dominion purchases, who do IRL players use as their (US source)?

I went to a local game store chain (“Games by James” in the Midwest US) and bought it there (They don’t really have an online storefront, sorry). From watching the last couple release cycles, I’d expect your local game store would have it before anybody online. IMO most early online “availability” are scalpers who are just going to hold your order and then fulfill it as soon as it becomes ACTUALLY available.

Well I ordered one that had a due date of Jan 3rd, now it just got moved to Feb 3rd.  Very frustrating that RGG cannot provide a reliable source for those of us who prefer the IRL version.

Cage is not even indirectly giving you money, is it?

I too was confused how this card 'qualified' as a Treasure?  I like the mechanics of the card the the 'Treasure' type is confusing, as it seemed more like an Action - Duration Type

Did I read that correctly? You were able to buy Plunder in your local game store?  Mine 'Black Moon Games' is still waiting for a release date before they will order it for me.

I noticed that someone has posted a Release date of 1/1/2023 on amazon.  this is the first I have seen someone commit to an actual date.  Although I did not see a cost there

As a long time player, I am trying to find a list of cards who's text/type changed so that how they are played made a difference.  An example is Throne Room.... 'may' was added so that the 2E card plays differently from the 1E version

11
Amazing so many new sets since I posted this
Has anyone tried to determine the 'largest' number of cards that are allowed without playing a variant, and have
Black Market have the recommended minimum (or all in the setup?)

Dominion General Discussion / Re: Dominion: Plunder

I dare not ask, but with all of the recent 2nd editions, and now plunder, are there any STORAGE options for ALL of the current cards (1st and 2nd editions combined), but even better any options that allow for continued expansions, so I can just add onto the proposed solution?

So I did 'the math' based upon the following - original sets + update packs + promos + base cards + blanks - intrigue + intrigue 2nd (since 1st had repeat of base cards) = 6461
Note: original dominion had 7 extra randomizers for base cards I think, so I am including those too, since it is part of the original 500
(And yes my math skills are only that advanced... my REAL question is the permutations of # of games...and yes including a black market with ALL non-kingdom cards)

This includes-  'unique' cards, including randomizer cards that were included in the set (and promos). - 'the math' is below (I included the non-counted sets).  And 'unique' does not include the 'reworded' versions, as they did not change (too much as I did not know which rewording cards changed from the original)

I am surprised this level of detail is not included in a wiki page as a table, - total cards - new cards totals, reworded cards that 'change play' and reworded that did not 'change play'.

dominion - 500
intrigue 2nd - 268
seaside - 500

Dominion General Discussion / Timeline for Secret History
« on: October 31, 2022, 08:32:42 am »
As I read through the Secret History of the Dominion cards, I have noticed that cards moved in and out of sets.  One of the surprising points was the Secret History of Adventurer >>> http://wiki.dominionstrategy.com/index.php/Adventurer#Secret_History, which stated 'I took Adventurer from the 7th expansion.'  This had me curious if anyone has built a timeline of the History of Dominion cards

It seems odd to me when these expansions are also named after cards from other sets.

That said stoked for this.

I agree.  I would be curious why create such confusion.

Though he didn’t say *which* fall.

Fall 2022 is the planned release.

I have seen multiple 'release dates' for Seaside 2E.  It would be nice to have a consistent answer though
The wiki says May 2022 (but was that for online option?)
RioGrande says June 2022 (so June 30 is last date for that option?) - I am going with this option as it is the producer of the games so they would know best?
And LastFootNote says Fall 2022 (although I have not see that source).

First let me say a great HUGE thank you for ANY new cards introduced for Dominion.
BUT ... there is one really minor issue I have with these new boxes .. the number of kingdoms it takes to play ALL of the new kingdom cards without repeating any

The scenario we do when a new box set arrives
1. play the 2 recommended setups
2. play the 10 of remaining cards as a setup
3. if there are any stragglers play those and include some of the cards from the first 3 setups that did not get much play time

My complaint is that for allies (if we did it right was that there was 1 extra kingdom card that did not get played in the first 3 setups
This scenario has been the case for several of the box set releases and I always hoped the number of kingdom cards would have been 20, 30 ... or 40.  End of rant

Yeah, I know... I am fortunate that Mr X has continued to share his creativity even if it is only 1 new card.

MM shows it as retail 44.95, special price 31.99, and that is consistent with how they have priced every other Dominion product.
Interesting.  Why would I purchase from Rio?  Additionally though I still do not see where I can order it.  The post link here says 'shipping today' - Shipping to where? ( I guess I am not patient enough)

Sorry to ask, but there are posts all over the place as to when and where I can order Allies
https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2759111/article/39628008#39628008 - But Rio Grande does not have it available for today.
And why is miniture market have it at 31.99 and most other costs are around 44.95?

Dominion Online at Shuffle iT / Advance Matching color issue?
« on: August 10, 2021, 11:20:00 am »
For dominion online, it states 'If you click on the name of another player, the colors of the searching options will change to reflect this. Green means there is no problem with this option. Red indicates there is a problem you can't solve (but the other player can). Yellow implies there is a problem which you could solve by relaxing your search criteria"

Except none of the players that pop up have any color nor are they clickable, they are all grey?

Rules Questions / Re: Aqueduct rule confusion
« on: July 21, 2021, 10:26:04 am »
There is no distinction in the card text between the VP tokens placed on the Silver and Gold piles by Aqueduct's setup instructions, and VP tokens on a treasure card places there in any way. All VP tokens on treasure card piles are treated exactly the same by Aqueduct's text.

Again ... wow .. the word 'its' was easy for us to miss.  Your clarification helped us better understand this one.

Rules Questions / Re: Aqueduct rule confusion

aqueduct: "when you gain a treasure, move [a VP token] from its pile to this"

farmer's market: when a player has built capitalism, during their turn, farmer's market is a treasure. it also has a "pile" of vp tokens, which accumulate from its on-play effect. so, obliquely, buying it causes you to move a token to aqueduct.

Wow.  Thanks.  I totally missed the Capitalism text '... are also Treasures ...".  That changes how we will play the project in the future.  Awesome new discovery for our games now.

I guess I do not see why the rule 'If you have Capitalism and then gain a Farmers' Market, you move 1VP from the pile onto Aqueduct.' is posted in the Aqueduct "Other rules" section.

Rules Questions / Re: Hireling Duration FAQ question
« on: June 21, 2021, 01:46:52 pm »
In Hireling it states 'If you use Disciple (or a similar card, like Throne Room) to play Hireling twice, you will draw two extra cards each turn, and Disciple will also stay in play for the rest of the game.' and 'If you play this with an emulator (or emulate a Throne Room and play a Hireling from your hand twice), the emulator stays in play for the rest of the game.'

I had not expect this as a rule.  Why does the Disciple 'stay in play for the rest of the game'?  What is the defining 'principle' of why the emulator would remain in place?
A Throne Room-type card playing a duration card stays out as long as the Duration does (and then until clean-up). Hireling stays out forever so so does Throne Room.

A Band of Misfits-type card playing a duration card stays out as long as the Duration card would have (). Hireling... so does Band of Misfits.

As I mentioned I did not expect this aspect of how emulators work.  What was the defining 'rule' that covered this principle of how emulators work.  I am guessing the 'principle' is something akin to Parent card (Throne Room) stays in play as long as the Child card (Duration) is in play, so I guess I missed that in the basic rules.

But maybe that is what the FAQ itself was designed how to work since Durations got introduced.
