Ok, guess this one inspired by a specific person.

Well, being a Mormon myself, many of these cards seem related to our religion and/or several things people think to be true of Mormons (The sacred grove is a historical site for the church, we have temples all over the world, we serve 2 year long missions, Joseph Smith was a mason, people think we have Harems of multiple wives, etc...).  That's my guess.  Mormon themed

Somehow I heard of and learned Thunderstone before I knew about Dominion.  I really enjoyed Thunderstone, and I bought most of the expansions.  I have never played advance, and I don't even know what it involves, but either way, Thunderstone is probably my favorite deck builder other than Dominion, although several cards aren't balanced at all.  Upgrading heros is fun, and I like the ability to skip your turn and trash one card.

I also like Star Realms.  I mostly play that one because it is quick and portable, and I have fun with it.  I like the ally effect thing. I also like the epic space art.  when I want to do any serious gaming though, I leave it behind.

Dominion General Discussion / Re: Semi-Interesting Dominion Moments Thread

Just activated Menagerie with 15 cards in hand. (Not a black Market game) Maybe that isn't even semi-interesting, but that was the most semi-interesting menagerie moment I've had

A card like throne room, however, requires you to play an action immediately, sort of like how you interpreted Hunting Party.  Several other cards also do this, such as Golem and Herald. These cards give you a conditional + action

Help! / Re: Posting losses in an attempt to get better.

I'm no expert, and I find myself, like you, often wondering the best way to use madman. However, looking at this board, I'd be tempted to have fun trying to make Feodum decent, which quite possibly would make me lose.  My reasoning is that several cards here can act as weak to decent silver gainers.  Pixie, hermit, feodum, taxman, cobbler, and butcher could all possibly get you silvers. (Even on mission turns) Also, if I was doing this, I'd totally go for contraband.  If they name silver, I'll buy cobblers or butchers.  If they don't name silver, I'll use that extra buy to grab a couple of them and/or buy mission and try to grab a silver on my extra turn.

Dominion General Discussion / Re: help! i'm horrible at lurker
« on: February 01, 2018, 04:19:19 pm »

Without a combo, Lurker is a fine-but-middling card that acts like half of a super workshop. In engine decks, you usually want to trash first, then add Lurkers as payload.

Do you still approach it like this if your opponent opens with lurker? I mean, even if they just start with one then they can trash stuff worry free and easily pick it up later.  I'm not disagreeing, just sincerely asking.  When my opponent gets a lurker, I always pick at least one up to keep them honest, but I'm not sure if this is the right play.

Engelm makes all those Empty the supply puzzles a lot easier.  I think I'd open with that card

I don't care what the name is. You can call them villages, splitters, +actions, tacos, bananas, or you can call them anti-terminals like I do. What matters is the subset of cards that you are thinking of when you use any of these terms, and it's very important that cards like Summon, King's Court and Champion are included in that subset. To use your metal metaphor, saying that Summon isn't a village is like saying that Slipknot, Between the Buried and Me, Last Days of Humanity, Rammstein, Periphery, and a ton of other metal bands aren't metal because reasons — it might be a comfortable position for some to take, but it's complete nonsense for any practical purposes.

Why should I include a one-shot ... or a Throny, when i want to talk about spamable villages?! there are huge differences, actual practical differences
its not about the term, but how some believe that this-or-that needs to be in this "loose group" - and that's what i find is arbitrary
you draw the line there, i here

Because those are the cards that let you play more than one terminal per turn. If you're going for a non-engine strategy when it's an engine board just because "there are no villages" and there's KC, you're playing the game wrong and will lose games because of it.

EVERYTHING IS TACOS

The discard deck after cleanup effect seems like it would be much better than Chancellor's version, just because of the timing.  Although, this isn't so lucky once you are in full green mode.  I don't think I'd buy this often? But I easily could be wrong.

I think I'd still buy the VP Lair for $7.  As for the action lair, it, being an action card and a $2 card, can help imp and wisp, but you totally don't want it to be what your Ghost finds, so maybe it evens out, but getting an Imp for $4 seems really really strong.  I'm not sure what to think about this one.
I really like another way to get spirits though.  This seems like a fun card.

This is like picking my favorite child.  I just can't do it.  But I definitely can pick out my least favorite child expansion.  Alchemy, I don't even kinda like you.  (except for Apprentice.  That card is sweet)

While spectre would be particularly nasty with junkers and trashers, it becomes particularly friendly with good trash for benefit cards, or knights, or pillage etc...

If Mountain's gift wasn't bad enough, Bandit Camp turns it into a curse.

Do you mean Bandit Fort?

I was thinking so hard about how this would possibly make sense.  But I knew if I asked, someone would make me feel sheepish by showing me how obviously bandit camp turns into a curse.  Now my brain can relax.

Wouldn't it have been a good idea to ask then?
Only if I was okay with the risk of feeling like a sheep.

El Dorado
Action - $5

+2 Cards
+2 Actions
+1 Buy
+$1

------------------
When you gain this, each other player gains an El Dorado.

This causes an awkward recursion. In a 4 player game, if player 1 buys an El Dorado, the following will happen:

Players 1 and 2 gain three El Dorados and players 3 and 4 gain only two El Dorados.
I guess that's part of why it's not a really good card idea

Definitely agree that misery should be ranked higher.  Getting two points seems better than a militia attack.  It's like a double point monument compared to a militia.  Also a 2 point swing seems like a much bigger deal than a half ghost ship attack.

As far as art goes, I love haunting and delusion.

Hey, I have a somewhat related question.  I had a game the other day, and my opponent seemed pretty upset that I was getting "lucky" (my chariot race got me lots of points.  I trashed all my coppers and estates and he had lots of spoils, so it didn't seem too lucky to me) at the end of the game he/she said "gg, nl"  what is nl?

371
Just had a game with Cobbler and Fool.  I skipped fool early, and so did my opponent.  Eventually I got a Cobbler and it allowed me to pick up fool and get the 3 boons, and have LITW for several turns before my opponent got around to getting fool too. (I wouldn't have ever gotten fool otherwise) Summon kinda does this too, but the your opponent has a whole turn knowing that you are about to play fool.
Fool may not be great, but it's pretty good if you are the only one who gets it.

372
Will-o-wisp and Bandit Camp.  Spoils cost 0, so will-o-wisp picks them up! Plus I got the WOW from pixie, which means goat ate everything else, so WOW was pretty consistently a lab.

Do you think it could be worth it to add something onto meld that gives a bonus for trashing other potion cost cards like apprentice does?

For Majestic Chimera, I would suggest having the non-matches be placed on top of your deck in any order, Scout style. This way it synergizes with Nimble and Majestic Chimera, as well as a bunch of other cards.

Alternatively, make it give +2 Actions instead? That works well with the other Chimeras.

I agree that 2 actions could make it work.  Or, along the same scout-like idea, have it give you the option of top decking or discarding any non matches like a Cartographer.

I really like meld by the way.
