Just realized I spoiled the other Ruins when they hadn't been... :/

But I guess that's compensated by my not having found Armory.

I see it as "I Throned a particular card, which was named Feast". Seems weird for Throne Room to remember the name of the card.
If you Throned a Feast, then we should Feast twice, right? The Feast could have been something else if you'd picked something else for BoM, but you didn't.

You Throned a BoM, but BoM says "play this as if etc." So really you Throned a Feast. If that Feast vanishes - for example moving to the trash, or maybe turning into a different card wtf - we should still Feast a second time.

I dunno, that's how I see it now, we will see if anyone produces a compelling counterargument. Also again for the moment that is how funsockets works.

I think the "this is that card until it leaves play" clause rather firmly supports that ruling.

That's what I want to know.  Also, I'm betting the FAQ for Band of Misfits will be longer than Possession, Watchtower and Trader combined.
It is probably top ten but cannot touch those three.

Well, that's no fun.

What was the isotropic/prototype art for Band of Misfits?

Procession.
Band of Misfits - turn it into Fortress.

Does it go back into my hand?
This one is in the FAQ, hooray. BoM goes back to your hand and you gain an action card costing $6. At the point at which you trashed it, it had an ability that returned it to your hand if it was trashed; at the point at which we need to know its cost, it's back to $5.

Sweet!

Hey Donald - you suck for not being grateful enough to Kirian etc.
But that doesn't make you an incredible monster.
Hope this is clear enough for you!

I was always under the impression that that phrase was meant to imply that you should get out as quickly as possibly, butt-hitting suggesting that you're taking your sweet ass time to leave.

Do you have any plans for a maniacal laughter sound effect when a Hermit turns into a Madman?

Would it be possible to get a relative timetable of when the expansions will be released on Goko?

I teach the game a lot.

A full 80% of the time, someone who is being taught will insist on calling it "Douche-y" instead of Duchy.

I don't know why it gets under my skin.  But it does.

... it does.

I always pronounce it Duke-y.  Because it's run by a Duke.  Duke -> Duchy.  Yes, that sounds like "dooky", but homonyms just can't be helped.

Even though Hunting Party does fit your description, I feel the fact that it's (almost) guaranteed to draw more than one card makes it of a slightly different flavor than some of the others here.

I'd say Hunting Party is most similar to Wishing Well.  Both involve revealing, and the chance (granted, a higher chance for one of them) of drawing a revealed card.

Having played Dominion for over a year and a half now, I've noticed (as I'm sure you have) that there are quite a few cards that just have +1 Card, +1 Action, and then some text.  These are often very powerful cards, but there are some weak ones in there as well.  What they all have in common as that when we first look at them we think "+1 Card, +1 Action, murgh, this card doesn't do very much... oh wait!"

Now, for them to qualify (in my completely subjective opinion), they have to have ONLY +1 Card, +1 Action, and text.  No other guaranteed vanilla bonuses.  Scout does not count, since it does not have a +1 Card, and Great Hall does not count, because 1 VP is a vanilla bonus.  Here they are by set:

Base: Spy

Intrigue: Wishing Well, Upgrade

Seaside: Haven, Pearl Diver

Alchemy: Apothecary, Familiar

Prosperity: N/A

Cornucopia: Hamlet, Hunting Party

Hinterlands: Scheme, Cartographer, Highway

Dark Ages: Rats (possibly others?)

I considered Caravan, but the text is simply stating that the extra +1 Card happens on your next turn, rather than, say, Hamlet, whose text dictates prerequisite activities (discarding) to get the extra vanilla bonuses.

I guess I'm used to human players who will take the time to build up an engine - it always catches me by surprise when the AI buys its first Province.  Nasty bastard will always go at least partially big money.

I'm really hoping that the first Dark Ages set will be up immediately on launch, because I'll most likely be purchasing it.  I just want to play with ***** again!

7067
I hadn't noticed that until eHalcyon's post, but now you could arrange to draw and play new treasure cards during the buy phase.  If you have a watchtower in hand you could play a horn of plenty to gain a cultist which you then immediately trash for +3 cards, and play any treasure cards drawn.

I could even envision a chain in which 4 HoPs are played to gain 3 HoPs and a cultist which are top decked and trashed respectively using your watchtower, allowing you to immediately play the remaining 3 newly acquired HoPs.  You could then play these 3 HoPs to gain 2 HoPs and a Cultist, draw back those 2 HoPs, and use then to gain the last HoP and a Cultist, and then play this HoP together with what additional treasures are in the 3 extra cards drawn from Cultists.

Watchtower is going to be pretty awesome, converting "on trash" benefits into "on gain" benefits.

So... you want to empty the Horn of Plenty pile? Because that's all you did right there.

7068
Can you play with cards from expansions you don't own in the campaign mode?

I would think so, but rather ask and get an answer.
No, the campaigns are by expansion (or half - a Seaside A campaign, a Seaside B campaign, a full Seaside campaign, etc.), and you have to have the expansion to play them. And then within the campaign it's just that set and the main set. And you own that set since that got you the campaign, and the main set is free, so there you go.

Please turn your expansion over to Seaside B in order to hear the rest of this recording.

My first reaction was "that sounds stupid", but after reading some comment from Donald X about designing kingdoms for it, I think it could be pretty fun. Sort of like solo challenges, except from the designer.
I have not actually seen an implemented version of the campaigns, and my details there are sketchy.

A campaign (for a full or half set) consists of 20 levels, each level is a game with 10 cards as usual. I picked out the 10 cards for most of them, but not for the main set / tutorial, and not for a few levels on some of the other ones. Basically when I first saw them I was displeased with how slowly new cards were introduced in them, and I ended up redoing most of the levels to fix that. And they hadn't done all the sets so I just did the other sets. There are a few I didn't change though.

However there is more to a campaign level than that - in particular I think the starting decks may vary by level. Every nth level is a "boss" in some sense, I am not clear on that either. There is story text. I didn't do any of that work, I just picked out the cards.

There are achievements, that is unrelated, and they will not be in the initial launch. There are generic achievements, I don't know what those are, and there are per-card achievements, and I picked out all of those, with help from playtesters.

I believe you (or someone) mentioned that Promo cards would be unlocked in-game - would that be in the campaign/adventure mode?

7070
I wonder what sort of challenges they will be.  Get more than 6 Provinces on this board?  Accrue a certain amount of points?  Get all of one pile?  Do some fancy combo trick?

Dominion without Cornucopia ? IMPOSSIBLE.

Oh, I'm sure having Dark Ages will more than compensate for this temporary loss.

The bots have gotten obnoxiously good.  They know exactly when to go for Duchies - it's uncanny - it's like they're programmed that way!
Not when Duke is out.

Well, I'm sure they'll flail like a dead fish when *CENSORED*, *CENSORED* and *CENSORED* are out.  Oh, oops, those were leaked Dark Ages cards.

Here's the biggest positive I can say about Goku - man, bots. Bots! And they're pretty good (relatively speaking), and you can play against them, and it makes four player games fast, and I can lose a lot of four-player games and go wow, I am not good at four-player Dominion. Then I play hundreds more games trying to fix that.

Anyway, the bots are impressive, all things considered.

The bots have gotten obnoxiously good.  They know exactly when to go for Duchies - it's uncanny - it's like they're programmed that way!

Goko Dominion Online / Re: YouTube Videos of FunSockets Dominion

Like I've written in the other thread, I created a thread in the Goko forums. I hope to get an official answer for video publishing.

You got one!

Yeah, thanks for pointing out. They made a good decision.
It's only logical.

But what if you get a sponsored YouTube account of which Funsockets videos are only a small part? You're not directly making money from the FS videos! Ha, I should be a lawyer.  ::)

I think there's a difference between requiring people to pay to watch your video, and people paying you to get a small amount of air time on your video.  YouTube has gotten rather lax about ads - they put them on clips and even full shows that definitely are not the intellectual property of the owner of the channel they're on.

Yeah, I'd download them and host them yourself if you want to keep them — the dominion.isotropic.org copies are going to go away when the rest of the site does...

I'll probably just switch back to my customary Pirate Ship at that point.  Or maybe theory will have finally posted Dark Ages avatars...
