Dude, X-tra explicitly said that he considers only VP token gaining as a vanilla effect, not static VP values.
To be fair, the 3rd card in this Traveller line, Crossroad, fits within the rules ( and +1 Buy). And one card being valid in a set is enough to be good for the competition.

BTW Dark Path is a curse too. Means you can buy it or get by a witch. You have to clarify before starting the game, whether it is player's or your choice (normal curse or dark path).

Yes - but doesn't change the idea. On top + 1 action or treasure, then VPs, then traveller`s comment.

So I am a fool but I play and have fun.
So do we all, that's a trivial commonplace.

I had fun in my first Dominion games with Thief and Spy and even thought that the combo was great.
Doesn't mean though that the two cards did not deserve to land in the bin.
Seems, that you only play Donald's cards. You like judging without playing - ok.

Sorry, but there are so many fan cards here that I don't see the appeal of playing with a card which looks bad in theory to me. If you could explain to me the ideas behind your design, and why you chose P cost for vanilla green, I am all ears though.

We talk about cards here all the time without ever having played with them. That is the whole reason to post cards here, to get feedback.


That's amazing for you,but not everybody has the time, energy, and resources to test fan cards. Segura is right. They're boring and worse than vineyard. If your vineyards aren't worth more than provinces, you are doing something wrong or playing vineyard when there are no good supports for it (eg. gainers, uni, hamlet, attacks/long games, etc.)
So I am a fool but I play and have fun.

so my question: why do principality and county break basic design principles?

BTW: county adds a rule: you can win with an empty county pile.
suggestion: If there is any pile with potion in cost add principality and county
It offers an alternate winning way like colony does. As county has same victory points like province, it is an interesting decision to follow this way.

I seriously doubt that you tested these cards extensively given that they are more expensive than Vineyard yet don’t yields (that much) more VPs (if you mainly play 3P and 4P Vineyard is of course weaker).
How do you get this guess?

your judging about alchemy fan cards is very rigorous. I have tested very carefully new alchemy cards starting with principality and county.
  .
After that I create alchemy fancards. I don't know why you always take apothecary and alchemist as criterium whether new alchemy cards are well done or not?
This is not a post against you but I don't understand why you think, that new alchemy cards are evildoing?  ;)
I am testing new alchemy cards very intensively (respecting Donalds suggestion to use only two or three alchemy cards) and there is much fun. Have you ever tested any new alchemy cards intensively?

f.i. : you cannot emulate a curse giving each other player a VP token because you can trash a curse.

(+1 Action has no effect if it's not your turn)

The bottom half looks like Caravan Guard, but it triggers when any player plays an Attack card. So you can use your last Action on a Witch, but then play this, cycle a bit, and keep your turn going.
triggers from hand only, so it is no duration card like caravan guard. - interesting

As someone who used to make fan cards and now tests official cards, the best advice I can give you is not to spend a lot of money actually printing cards. Print on paper and slip it into the sleeves, like LibraryAdventurer suggests. Because a year or two down the road, Donald X. will make a card with either the same name or nearly the same function and you will want to change your cards. That's been my experience, anyway, and I'm glad I never sprung to have my cards printed in a print shop.
don't agree - I have created many fan cards (see here: DOMINION Forum Fankarten) and it is much fun to play with them. There are many new ideas which Donald unfortunately never realized since years.
If you are in EU it is nice to let print on original size (SKAT-cards) with high quality: MEINSPIEL

You can use it only as a militia-variant, so $4 is minimum. As there is a (attractive) alternative it has to cost $5.

What about if there would be no virtual money? Many powerful cards are basing upon virtual money. So virtual potion is a must too.

A simple and useful card. First i set costs to but this is too cheap because you can buy it in first two turns; seems to be too strong and if you have at start you are lucky.
So i set the costs to . Everyone has the same chance to buy it in middle game.



remark: if there is chapel or a normal village in your kingdom you should remove those.

It is a good example of a balanced and sound card that totally sucks. That describes the majority of my own designs; it is pretty hard to come up with something good. Not just in Dominion but in game design in general: being mechanically fine is fairly easy, at least relative to other game design issues.

As I already wrote, the issue is simply that the secondary option, a Necro that trashes, doesn’t lead to interesting play. Either this is the only trasher so, sure, go for it. Or there are better trashers and this is just a village for 4.
so means: no choice but both?
