Victory Feast
Treasure - $18
Worth $1
When you play this, if you have no actions remanining and no other cards in play, gain every card in the supply.

So, Embargo?

Embargo, Feast, Island, Mining Village, Pillage, Mad Man, Knights, Death Cart...

*You bought a card costing $6 or more this turn, and it's turn 2.

Bet your opponent is regretting that Noble Brigand opening now!

One key thing with Rogue I think is that it gives +$2. That's quite considerable, I think. Terminal +$2, gain a silver is sometimes what it is, and that's about the same as Explorer. Of course, being about the same as Explorer isn't anything special, but that's pretty close to the worst it gets. +$2, gain a Gold, or +$2, trash your opponent's stuff are both very, very nice.

It's definitely board dependent, and I think one of the most interesting cards in the set. I don't disagree with it's rating.

Actually, the worst it gets is +$2, discard the top 2 cards of your opponent's deck. It won't always successfully trash.

Actually, the worst it gets is probably +$2, gain a Sea Hag from the trash (after Curses are all gone). Of course in that situation you probably just don't play the Rogue.

Allowed and encouraged, go ahead and start with Golem finding 2KCs or something.

In that case, I don't think this belongs in the "easy puzzles" section. CC will be along shortly to show how you can gain every Gold and Silver in the supply.

I prefer the other version, where you can only "play" one action total. This means that actions played from Golem would count as more than 1 action being played. In the restricted version, can anyone beat my 14?

Time for another.

What is the highest number of Golds and Silvers that can be gained by starting with playing one single action card? Highest combination of both counts, I don't know the answer nor whether it includes just Golds, just Silvers or both.

Limits:
- You are starting with a regular 5-card hand and an empty discard pile, you may specify the draw pile
- It's a solitaire game
- No duration cards have been played previously
- You are not Possessing yourself
- There is nothing on any of the mats

Examples:
You use Storeroom to discard 4 Tunnels, draw them back and discard them again (your draw pile is empty), gaining 8 Golds.

Hints:
The solution might involve Trader and/or Watchtower and very likely Golem.

Or perhaps simpler is better....

Play Trader, trashing Colony
Reveal and Discard 3 Market Squares
Gain 11 Silver

14 total.

Play Golem, finding no actions, discarding 8 Tunnels from your deck.
Gain 8 Golds, trashing 1 of them to Watchtower, discarding 3 Market Squares.

Is that 11 or just 10? You didn't say you have to keep the Gold/Silver in your deck, just gain them.

If you don't have to keep the Silvers for them to count, just Trader a Feodum for 7 Silvers, reveal Trader to gain Silvers instead.

That's 14 if you count the Silvers you didn't end up gaining.

That doesn't work... because you never got the original 7 Silvers at all. It's "when you would gain" not "when you gain" for Trader. If that did count, then you could easily get infinite by revealing Trader over and over.

Define "playing one single action card"? Does this mean Throne Room, Procession, King's Court, and actions that Golem finds are out?
What I meant was simply: Yes to Golem, no to TR, PR and KC.
Playing a single KC doesn't get you anywhere. :)

Wait, yes to Golem? Or do you just mean that you can play Golem, but you can't play the actions that it finds?

Rules Questions / Re: Market Square when-a-card-is-trashed timing
« on: April 16, 2013, 11:35:42 am »
Tunnel is weird.  I've never really accepted the explanations I've seen.
Tunnel is indeed weird.

I think it creates some sort of weird "mid-air" zone.

If you could pull Tunnel from any place in your discard, well, it's lose-track issues and what not.
If you can reveal Tunnel as you are discarding a single one, then Cellar's discarding is no longer an atomic operation.

Actually I don't think this is any different than Fortress. Other than the fact that Tunnel needs to "reveal" because it's in a hidden zone, whereas trashing Fortress is public. But both of them trigger after they're already in their final destination. With Fortress, you might Trash 3 Fortresses and a Curse all at the same time... all 4 go into the trash pile, in whatever order you choose, then they all trigger. Nothing has "lost track" there. You can magically dig through the trash pile now, to find all the Fortresses that you trashed, and put them back in your hand. Same with Discarding 3 Tunnels and a Curse... it is true that in real life, for accountability, you need to show the cards before they hit your discard pile, so that you don't reveal Tunnels that were already in there. But that's just an accountability issue.

So if I topdeck a gained card using Watchtower, it visits my discard pile on the way?

Yes. This is especially important for things like Inn. If you gain an Inn, and then reveal Watchtower, Inn IS in the discard pile for a moment, meaning you have the option to shuffle it into your draw pile (in which case Watchtower would lose track of it and do nothing).

I don't see what you mean. Which browser? I should mention that I only ever test on Google Chrome.

The color of the star indicates how many stars you got for that level.

Chrome. Basically, when I re-entered the game, I didn't see any stars on any of the levels in the level list. After I clicked a level to go back to it, it would have a star.

*Edit* Just opened it up on another computer, loading my saved game from Google... didn't see the issue. I could have just been mistaken...

Rules Questions / Re: Yet another Treasure Map question
« on: April 14, 2013, 09:07:11 pm »
You can't trash the one from play because its already in the trash. It can't go to the trash a second time because its already there.

If Treasure Map said "trash or return to the supply" instead of trash, you could throne it, trash it and one from your hand, then play it again, return it from the trash to the supply (with the third from your hand), and get 8 golds. I think.

I *think* that's right... but I also seem to remember last month I mentioned that a card can never lose track of itself, and someone provided an example that proves that wrong. But with any of the "trash this; if you do" cards, I believe the reason you can't Throne them isn't lose track, it's simply that the definition of "trash" is to move a card from some non-trash location into the trash pile. A card in the trash can never be "trashed" because it already is "trash."

Variants and Fan Cards / Re: Charter - A Treasure-Attack
« on: April 14, 2013, 01:34:50 am »
Ah crap, i did the wording wrong. What i meant is this:

Charter
5$, Treasure - Attack
When you play this, each other player mit 4 or more cards in hand may discard a Copper. If he does not, he gains a Copper.

The wording is a bit ambiguous. If I only have 3 cards in hand, do I gain a Copper, or am I immune to the attack?

I think as the first sentence only talks about players with 4+ cards, the concurring "he" clearly relates to them. Actually, trying to do a clearer wording led me to the wording above when i didn't notice how it changed the card. Maybe it can be made more clear by connecting the two sentences?

Charter
5$, Treasure - Attack
When you play this, each other player mit 4 or more cards in hand may discard a Copper, gaining a Copper if he does not.

Edit: So yes, with only three cards in hand you are immune.

I see no reason to limit it to players with 4 or more cards in hand... That seems to only make sense on cards that make you discard. Why should you be immune to this attack just because you were militiad earlier?

Minor bug, dunno if it's been mentioned here yet. After loading the game a second time, the level selector window doesn't show the star in the previous levels until after you click to go to each level. Not sure if the star means "complete" or "got 3 stars."

7518
No. Basically all dominion advice does depend on the Kingdom.

Which is why "It depends on the kingdom" in response to a question is a useless statement; it doesn't actually help because it's trivially true for every single dominion question asked ever.

Edge case:

"On a Witch board, if you open 5/2, is it better to open Witch/Nothing, or Curse/Curse?"

That question does not depend on the Kingdom. ;D

Here's your worst cards Kingdom:

Adventurer, Thief, Scout, Transmute, Pirate Ship, Secret Chamber, Pearl Diver, Rats, Counting House, Saboteur
Ugh. You cant go Pirate Ship/Thief because of Adventurer, so maybe BM? Just…BM?

Why would Adventurer be a counter to Thief or Pirate Ship? Adventurer isn't virtual money; it still needs treasure.

Good stuff. Just learned it tonight. 5 player game where none of us had played. Insanely close finish... winner had 1 point more than the next 2 players, with me having just 3 points less than that.

Felt like a cross between Trajan and Agricola, which I both like. No clue what good strategy is, yet.

7521
Because this is F.DS and nothing can be so simple...

Remake is different, right? Because of the "Do this twice" wording.

Yup. Just realized, not only can you trash the same Fortress twice with a Remake, but you can trash a Rats/Cultist/Overgrown Estate, and then trash one of the newly drawn cards as your second card.

Bureaucrat
People obviously didn't read the How to use Bureaucrat in Dominion guide, and then they didn't know how to use it. That's the only possible explanation for the most powerful card in Dominion having such low win rates.

On topic and on a serious note: I don't think Pearl Diver belongs in the kingdom. Sure, it's a weak card, but it's not a bad card. Rats could possibly fit in there, as there is zero support for it in the kingdom.

Well I wasn't trying to create a Kingdom where you wouldn't want to buy any of the Kingdom cards... that definitely has been discussed, and would look more like Golem and a bunch of Villages. I was just taking the 10 weakest cards overall and sticking them together in a Kingdom. I would say Rats is as a whole a stronger card than Pearl Diver.
