Dominion Online at Shuffle iT / Re: Previews
« on: September 26, 2018, 02:17:32 am »
If you really want you can still play a rated previews game by creating your own table.

I tried exactly that last monday and it does not work. I don't remember the exact wording, something like incompatible search options.

Dominion Online at Shuffle iT / Re: Nocturne has been released, go buy it!
« on: November 18, 2017, 08:22:05 am »
Is anyone else having trouble purchasing Nocturne? I can't find an option to buy it in the store. The only options I seem to get are buying the Gold and Silver subscriptions even though my Gold subscription is current to 4-Jan-18 ... I'm sure I must be doing something wrong but I can work out what. Frustrating.

If you already have Gold subscription, the upgrade to Gold with Nocturne is cheap.
You can change the end of subscription (the box after the "until") or select an end date with the icon right from the afore mentioned box.

Rules Questions / Is Cursed Gold a Gold?

My first game with Nocturne and I have a Bandit Fort and Cursed Gold. So, does the Cursed Gold count as Gold? If not, why?

Dominion Online at Shuffle iT / Re: Thoughts on Etiquette Blog Article?

1) Is this a worthwhile endeavor? If so, is the blog the right place for it, given that this would be primarily about online etiquette? Would this be better suited to the ShIt forum?
An article of the sort would be useful, especially for new players.

Although I do agree, I fear that these new players won't read it. "I just want to play Dominion for god's sake!"

However, resigning in games with more than two players is not encouraged; you will take a greater ratings penalty than if you had simply played the game through and lost.

I believe this should say "more than two human players". If I'm playing a three-player game with you and a bot, there shouldn't be (and, I assume, is not) any additional penalty for resigning.

IIRC, games with Bots are never rated.

Also, it seems to systematically spend all the Spoils it has in hand, even those it doesnít need to spend.

That's usually a good idea, actually. It's good to get rid of those stop cards.

Are you sure? Can you elaborate on that, please?

The least favourite cards is easy: Rebuild and IGG (also Wall if you cound Landmarks). Maybe also Possession since it is somehow "broken".

My favourite cards... that's though. I think it is Casles. Also Capital with Crown.

When playing solo I also like Goons and Peddler. However, IRL I tend to play nicer (since I mostly play with my parents and sibblings).

Functionality has been minimally implemented, I'll give them that.

Yes it's great minimalism isn't it.
Yes, it is minimalism, but great?

How big an information leak would a short list be? What's the worst that could be leaked?

Dominion Online at Shuffle iT / Re: Offline Pass and Play
« on: February 07, 2017, 02:11:07 am »
I really would like to love the offline play. Hot-seat and LAN-play would be really nice. However, I am a bit worried about bugfixes.

Another point that would be great, is to have an interface to write AIs.

Rules Questions / Re: New shuffling rule
« on: September 28, 2016, 09:00:22 am »
My deck has two cards.
My -1 Card token is on the deck.
I play Smithy.
What happens?

1. would draw 3 cards
2. remove -1 Card token
3. would draw 2 cards
4. draw 2 cards

1. would draw 3 cards
2. reshuffle
3. remove -1 card token
4. would draw 2 cards
5. draw 2 cards

C. I can decide.

I would say: A.
Why would you shuffe? You have enough cards to draw them without shuffling, so no shuffling.

He'll still be adventuring in our hearts.

And as your title, too.

Thanks for the list Aleimon Thimble!

Maybe the respect should also be considered for the title? It is "easy" to post many useless things ;-)

Yes. (Maybe because I did not play Empires yet...)

If I am not mistaken, the same applies to Disciple with Band of Misfits.

Dominion General Discussion / Re: How good is Alchemy?
« on: September 06, 2016, 08:56:13 am »
Unpopular Opinion Potion: Philosopher's Stone is my favourite Alchemy card because it doesn't cause me to sit through hours of my opponents chaining actions.

Just hours of them counting their deck and discard every time they play it.

My friends are generally capable of remembering the number they just counted when they play two Philosopher's Stones. Some are even clever enough to say "Well, they were worth $4 last turn, so i guess you trust me when i say i can afford a Province with these two".

I would not trust them! Why? Because it depends on the number of cards in hand and played, since "You only count your deck and discard pile, not your hand or cards in play or set aside cards.".

Not sure if it is a bug or not (my feeling would be the later, but I am often wrong).

MF is still doing bug fixes, so I would report it.

What i didnt see and i hope i will never encounter: A slow play bot. That would be pretty efficient.
Just buys copper and plays them 5 sec pre time-out. Ends up gaining more and more copper -> 25 min turns.
Now you have to 3pile/province all by yourself.

Sound like an evil plan  ;D ;D ;D

It happened once to me against a bot. After each card I played "Connecting to server..." and "You were away 1.x 10^9 seconds". It was really annoying!

Rules Questions / Re: Prince + loose track
« on: August 24, 2016, 02:17:37 am »
Who cares about what cards think? Cards can't think!
I can think, my opponent can think and we can both come to the conclusion that it's the very same Fortress using the power of observation.
We could put a sticker on the front of the card to be able to track it and once it's back in the play area, see if it has that sticker and remove it; which it does.

I know that lately the rulings have been going in the other direction, but I don't think it's very helpful to be so precise when it's not needed.

Your opponent can't verify it's the same Fortress (excluding edge cases with an empty or visible hand, only 1 copy, never discarding cards, etc). Only you can. You could have had another Fortress. I think it's less about it being the Same Exact Card and more about how it could have not been the same card and in the cases where that is possible there isn't a way to verify that information. So for consistency it applies to all situations.

Thanks. That does make sense. I see my mistake now.

Rules Questions / Re: Prince + loose track
« on: August 23, 2016, 08:10:36 am »
The official rule is this:
In rare circumstances an effect may try to move a card that is not where that effect expects the card to be. In those cases the card does not move - the effect has "lost track" of the card.

So here the card is Fortress, the effect is Prince's "setting it aside again when you discard it from play", the place it expects the card to be is the play area. We can fulfill all of these conditions, so I would expect that Prince is able to set Fortress aside again.

I would argue that whatever happens in the meantime is irrelevant as long as you can find the exact card that you initially played with Prince and are able to set it aside again.

However, a lot has been written both by Donald and others about how lose-track applies to these kinds of things, so I'm not exactly sure what the ruling would be, I can only argue about what I think would make the most sense.

I agree with you. It cannot be another forteress, since the forteress goes back to you hand if trashed. IMHO it's not the same as a reserve card. Of course, one could argue that the forteress is not at the exact same position in play...

Dominion General Discussion / Re: Beginners' mistakes
« on: June 23, 2016, 01:30:37 am »
I totally agree with (1) to (3). I saw all of them.
I think (4) is not that big a deal though. By placing the cards strategically, it can be done without the need to cound.

I'd like to add a (5): misusage of the terms. Use buy instead of gain (or vice versa). + 1 Gold instead of +1 coin. Action instead of action card. etc. And when I correct them I am called pedantic!

Rules Questions / Re: Can I reveal Trader when I gain it?
« on: May 20, 2016, 03:00:02 am »
So it just now occurred to me that you should be able to Transmogrify something into a Watchtower, and then reveal that Watchtower to respond to the gaining of itself?

I just tried it on MF and could not reveal the Watchtower. Is it a bug?
What are your other options?

I mean uh. I make the rules and not them. Them programming it any which way isn't going to convince me of anything.

I was just asking if it is a bug or not. English is not my mothertongue and I was unsure and not trying to convince anyone.

It would be cool to have an interface for the bots so that interested people (like me  ::) - it's Java right?) could create their own bots. :-*

Sorry. Which one should I have posted it in?

Welcome to the forum, by the way!
