Avatars say a lot about you as a person.

So what does my avatar say about me?

You have a Star Wars avatar on a Dominion forum. It shows you don't like to play by the rules. You are independent and creative.

What exactly are you trying to suggest about me?

Fortress is impossible to trash. You are a persistent and reliable person.

What would be really awesome is if there is coppersmith and cursed village, and then you buy a cursed village and get greed.

Whats Coppersmith?

Jester is really thematic. Always surprising, sometimes effective.

the thing is, vampire isn't a very good card at all. it should be in the bottom third.

Couldn't disagree more.  I ranked it first on my list.  It non-terminally gains s and attacks.  Is there some other you want on the board?  There's absolutely no reason why you shouldn't grab Vampire first.  The fact that you only get that every other play is a downside, but Bat is a decent trasher, and there's no reason not to get multiple Vampires.

I agree. Gaining 's is huge, especially when it also attacks. You also need to consider the fact that bat trashes, meaning that Vampire can do pretty much everything. I find that if you are drawing your whole deck, its nice to have 1 Bat and 1 Vampire so they just switch off every turn.

Her dress needs to be red, or at least not the same color as the background of the card.

I would probably buy countries villains performers and royal markets and then colonies. I usually build my deck a whole bunch and then buy 4 colonies every turn

Yes, you build your deck a whole bunch and then buy 4 Colonies at once. The problem is, you would lose to players who do not do that. All of your cards are based around the way you play. And that’s fine; those cards might be just fine if played by you. But you need to understand that if you actually want to win games of Dominion, then playing that way doesn’t work.

Actually that strategy usually does work

I'm a bit confused here. What was your original intention in posting cards here if you refuse to except any of the advice or suggestions people give you?

Philosophers stone: your decks get pretty big, so this is a really good card.

Actually it's maybe the single worst card in Dominion, besides maybe Transmute.

Harvest begs to differ.

1. Cornucopia : My love for cornucopia is a bit irrationnal. But this little set is very solid. With the exception of tournament, I like every single card in it.

Even Harvest?

Harvest!

I don't get the harvest hate really. Mainly, it's a very fun card to play with because the money you'll get from it depends on your deck building. It's a predictable random parameter and I like that.
I know that terminal money is very situationnal, but with some tricks you can make very clever uses of Harvest, discarding the crap out of the top of your deck.
It happens often that you have no cards to discard, but in this case, you just don't buy Harvest so this doesn't impact my whole appreciation of the card.
Yes, it's a weak card, but there is nothing wrong about that. However, it's no way as weak as transmute.

Harvest is really good for getting coins but the reason I hate it is because you have to discard the cards

Well, its good for getting coins if you like getting + out of a action. Even when you get , its still not great. Harvest sucks, which is too bad because the art and the idea are cool.

Good Article! I also like the idea of just a few paragraphs on a card if, like me, you don't want to sit through a few pages on a card. I'll see if I can right some of these myself.

I feel like Seaway is pretty great. +Buy is one of those things I seem to wish I had more often.

Dominion General Discussion / Margrave vs Tragic Hero
« on: January 01, 2018, 09:27:54 pm »
Is it me, or is Tragic Hero way worse than Margrave? Margrave's attack is good, which Tragic Hero's extra effect is more neutral; I see when it helps, but it hurts perhaps more often.

Cursed Village/Secret Cave

You get pretty much a full engine- draw, actions and coins.

Art is great though, this is defo the village where Tragic Hero lives, what with the crow infestation.

More likely it's the village where Tragic Hero dies.

My dad says the crows eat him.

I just saw Star Wars Episode 5 in theaters! It was great! I especially liked the part where they fight four-legged walkers in speeders, where the old jedi trains the new jedi, and we find out about the main character's parents!

From a hand of 5 cards, your first CV is a Lost City. The second is a Vanillage. In the presence of additional card draw, it can quickly turn into a Necropolis.

Obviously where it shines is with any kind of discard-for-benefit. In the presence of such cards I think it's almost a must-buy.

I agree. And even if you don't have any kind of discard-for-benefit, just playing terminals makes it keep drawing. I don't think it is as good as Lost City, though.

1. How does this compare to Lost City
2. How reliable is this as a village and as draw?
3. How terrific is the art?

I think this is a pretty solid village. If you have something to discard card with, it can be a source of draw and a village. The on-buy penalty is not usually a problem, but you never know with hexes. The art is really cool, though I'm not sure if the people in the town are ghosts or they just don't care about the insane amount of crows flying around.

Hello fellow forum visitors,

I am from the Netherlands, my name is Aad (short for Adriaan). Curently I work at Shuffle iT on the online version of  Dominion. I hope to visit this forum on a regular basis when I am working. My Dominon online name is 'adriaan', although I do not play very regularly at the moment.  Got to keep some non-Dominion time in my live, besides work. I mean, other games are fun to, and then there is family and stuff :-)

Cu around,

Aad Schippers.

Welcome to the forums!

You should not say gg until the game is over. You can say gg and resign, ending the game, but saying gg while you are either winning or it isn't clear who will win is poor etiquette.

Resigning is also fine if you have no chance of winning. I think playing it out if you have a slim chance is the way to go but if it is extremely improbable, I don't mind a resignation.

As for ending the game quickly, not everyone knows how close a margin they can get away with and still guarantee victory, and not everyone knows when they have clearly lost, and sometimes the margin needed is quite large. In an engine with explosive potential for points, for example with goons, groundskeeper, or kings court/monument, with loads of vp per turn, a large margin is necessary to safely approach the endgame. New players also may not spot that they are down too far to have any possibility of winning, and keep playing even though they will lose when the game ends no matter what. Further, if you aren't confident of your deck tracking and you don't know if your alt-vp will quite be enough buying just the last silk road, it is fine to play a slightly longer turn to ensure you get the points you need.

One thing I would add is to not play attacks that aren't necessary. Don't make them discard to militia unless you need the coins, don't play a witch when they could have a moat unless you need the cards, or the curse vp will make a difference. You playing 3 actions doesn't take much time, but forcing them to make a decision takes a lot longer.

I say gg during a game if it is exciting and/or interesting.

Your opponents probably interpret that as you being passive-aggressive about being in a losing position.

Maybe, but given the context, I kind of doubt it. Most times when I say it it isn't clear who is ahead.

If a game is interesting/exciting, then it is maybe worth your time to spell out what you mean and say "this is a good game" or something to that effect. Why risk ruining a player's mood by giving them a chance to misinterpret a "gg".

I like to think I've never played someone emotionally fragile enough to have their mood ruined by me being perceived as passive aggressive.
