Considering that you lost Peddler split (1 vs 9), SC draws will be rather mediocre.
With no villages, cantrips like Peddler and Baker are a big deal.
With TF help, Peddler is cheaper than Baker and seems the key here (as SC split as well).

You might also got some bad draws.
And your opponent also got possession first.

Dominion General Discussion / Re: The Dominion Cards Lists 2016 Edition
« on: October 20, 2016, 03:49:52 am »
So I mostly had my order backed up on my computer, so I put the $4 cost cards in order again (the $4 and $5 cards both got mixed up after I put them in order). When I pressed save, it seemed to refresh the page and it scrambled up the order again. Maybe I'll just send you a text file...

Well I'm really sorry, this kind of sucks. I'm curious what the cause of this might be as I'm using a Jquery library for that sorting and should work. Text file works of course as well. Make sure that you didn't save so that I don't count your misordered list.

I'm curious as to what the algorithm is.
Presumably the comparison system is just using a quicksort or similar to order the cards, but the way the list on the right varies as you go definitely appears to have some heuristics going into it.  What are the heuristics?  Do they affect what comparisons you're offered, to try to optimise the number of comparisons?

It's basically a topological sorting. But to you not having to make the duels with the same cards several times in a row (to not make it boring and as tedious and a bit more varied) and to get an approximately good outcome even if you don't make all the comparisms I made my own implementation of it. That may result in a bit more comparisms, but in my testing it was still pretty quick. I thought about optimizing it by offering comparisms based on the results of other (finished) lists, but that hasn't happened yet and I'm even not sure if that is worth it.

I also had the same problem... The order gets messed up when I change compare to order mode.
You should not consider any you my lists (I believe I did not save them, but I am not sure.)

Help! / Re: Familiar Vs Goons - What did I do wrong?
« on: September 20, 2016, 11:34:37 am »
When I do my scan of this board, there are a few things that jump out.

1. There are no villages.
2. There is no non-terminal draw.
3. There is no thinning, and there is junking

What all of this means, then, is that is basically going to be a big-money game. 1 and 2 alone is usually enough to ensure this, though sometimes with strong trashing and no junking the engine is still the right play.

You're going to want familiars pretty badly, as if junking is there you really need to do it in a game like this. I think Potion/Silver is the correct opening, even though I typically hate doing it. Hitting 6 on turn 3 is great, but it's not that great since they're not going to be able to play that goons consistently for a little while, and goons is really not that much better than a militia here. It's better, of course, but really not by much. Since you can't play multiple, it's just a militia that also gets you a few VP. The +Buy is almost a footnote, since you're not going to be hitting high numbers in this game.

Anyways, what would be my plan for this game?

Basically:
Open Potion/Silver, buy familiars while hitting 3P and you've got a good chance at playing the familiar before the curses run out. Other than that,
3: Silver
4: Silver
5: Mystic, or an Artificer if (A) the average $ value of your deck is above $1.3 or so, or (B) if it's early and the Mystic is going to possibly prevent you from getting your familiar plays in.
6: Goons, probably stop at 3, maybe even do things like pick up a 4th if one is going to miss the shuffle.

Other than that, follow the basic big money gameplay for things like provinces and duchies.

I don't think you're going to do much better than that in a game like this. Big money play requires discipline, you really need to stick to your plan and not do things like pick up an ironworks or a bridge to give yourself the best chance of winning.

Also, as a side-note, no one is talking about Wharf-BM here instead of Goons-BM. On this particular board I think Wharf-BM could absolutely be competitive--you're junked and not thinned so the Goons discard is probably only going to make you discard curses/estates/coppers. If your draws make it so that you're hitting 5 and not 6 in the early-to-mid-game, I would definitely consider Wharf-BM here, even though the downside is that you might draw a familiar or two dead.

I do not agree. Of course, part of your payload is going to be Golds and Silvers. But there is Peddler and Goons on this board.
It is hard to include Peddlers/Goons into a Wharf-BM deck with no village. Not mentioning that discarding attacks are terrible for BM decks.

The plan seems to get Goons ASAP and then buy Peddlers with Familiar, Artificer and/or Mystic help.

Help! / Re: Correct Way To Play This Kingdom
« on: September 15, 2016, 12:24:09 pm »
Is Council: Big Money a viable alternative strategy here?  Or would it be effectively destroyed by an opponent playing an engine in this kingdom?

The engine seems much better than CR+BM. It could be viable if Chapel was not present.

In addition to that stuff, diedre is just being such a derp-newbie that I find it forced and unbelievable. I just find it easier to believe that someone's faking it than to believe he's really not sure about half of the stuff he asks such obvious questions about. The latest example is the NK last night, though that's after I put my vote on him.

The fact is that you Mafia-crazy guys use a lot of abbreviations for a newbie and non-native English speaker.

All of us are being suspicious on SA for a long time.
To me, their excuses just sound more and more scummy.
gkrieg, the hammer is in your hands.

vote: SA

ok, thanks!

gkrieg, do you believe voting "no lynch" we really have more chances to hit scum at the next day?
If SA is really the scum left, I have to sacrifice myself for the greater good.

Day 4 Start

As comms came back, the group once again realised that their numbers had been reduced during the period of static.  They'd come to expect the intermittent deaths, but each was acutely aware that as their numbers dwindled, not only did their chance of being next increase, but the chance of their mission's success gradually approached zero.

Conversations started once more, and they managed to determine that only four of them remained.  Once again, the static had claimed two lives.  Someone claimed to have seen the debris from one of the missing Raptors, and that in the twisted wreckage they had seen a body torn in half, and amongst the protruding bones a spinal cord of some strange metal that, as they watched, began to glow red.  A Cylon!  Or what remained.

Was that ruined creature the only one left, or were there more murdering toasters among the four remaining ships?

iguanaiguana died during the night.  They were Karl Agathon, the Macho Tracker.

Calamitas died during the night. They were Leoben Conoy, the Cylon Goon.

Day 4 begins now and will end at 2pm forum time, 18th September.

Could you explain me why two people died during last night? Usually it should be one, right?

I also feel like his messing up by calling SA he over and over again is forced.

Gkrieg, this is just out of line. I have already said that I find the pronouns issue personally offensive, and you're implying that I might have been encouraging it for the sake of looking like a non-scum-partner? It's absolutely not okay for anyone to encourage others to act in a discriminatory or insensitive way about a minority just to win a game, and that's pretty much what your suggestion there amounts to.

I let one or two instances of misgendering on the part of non-native English speakers slide because their language usage backgrounds might be a little different... see the fact that I haven't even complained about deidre's post at #882 yet. I just don't have the time/mental energy to keep correcting people and to fight what feels like a losing battle for town at the same time without letting one thing derail the other. If I'd had a scum QT with Calamitas, you can bet I'd have sorted out the pronouns issue with him the moment it arose.

I am sorry. "They" it will be from now on (I hope remembering that)...

Well we want to be able to choose between two people instead of theee people. I mean right now I'm pretty sure mail-mi is town but it would still be nice to see him dead and flipped then having to reread him and figure out he is 100%town(which I'm pretty sure of anyway. Plus people might still have tricks up their sleeves!

vote: no lynch

But if we does not lynch anyone, night will come and we will lose another town, right?

Gkrieg and iguana seemed really friends at this game. Now that iguana is dead and he was town, I am assuming gkrieg is also town.

I am between mail-mi and SA.
But since SA already started voting on me, he seems scummier.
Who votes that fast when there are only four players left?! Scum.

I am pretty confident about my vote.
As I said, you we lynch town, we are done.
What makes you confident in them beeing scum?
And why do you think that we are LyLo, I would say the probabilty of that is almost negligible.
