Non-Mafia Game Threads / PBF Deal or No Deal
« on: July 10, 2013, 10:41:43 pm »
Basically, there are 26 cases containing prizes ranging from +0 respect and spam PMs by me, to +5 respect and a fan card designed just for you. You choose one case to be your case, then slowly eliminate the others. After every round, you will get a choice to say Deal or No Deal to the Banker's offer (some average of the prizes left) and end the game with the Banker's prize, or continue. At the end, where there is only your case and one other case, you will get the chance to switch the cases, then reveal your case. You will get that prize.

Anybody in?

Titan $5

Variants and Fan Cards / Negative Cost?
« on: July 06, 2013, 12:02:00 am »
Consider:

Some name $-2
+1 action
+1 buy
Action

You could use an extra buy on this to give yourself an extra $2. Once in your deck, it can be used to get other Some Names for more +$2s. But, beware, you could end up getting too much.

FAQ for all you edgecasers:

If you trash it with Apprentice, you would have to discard 2 cards.

IF you trash it with Salvager, you would get +1 buy, -$2 (to a minimum of 0).

If you play a Bridge or a Highway, the cost would be increased to $0 (cuz they say to a minimum of $0)

Thoughts?

Mafia Rules! (blantantly stolen from nearly everyone, changes in lime green).

Game Rules:

General Gameplay and Etiquette:

1. You may not quote private Moderator-supplied information (either real or fabricated) of any kind.  Paraphrasing (for role claims, etc.) is acceptable.
2. There is to be NO personal communication outside of the forum postings unless your role PM specifically allows it.  Mafia members may communicate at night and during the confirmation stage.
3. If you have a role with a Night action your choices are due to me by the posted deadline (generally 48 hours from Night start during the first few Nights; later Nights may have shorter deadlines).  If I do not receive your choice via PM by the posted deadline you will forfeit your actions.  In case of multiple submissions, the last valid one before the deadline will be used.
4. Roles with Night actions will not may be able to submit an action on Night 0 (i.e. during the confirmation stage). If you have a role that can be used on N0, please send me your night action along with your confirmation.
5. Any player with a Night action may instead submit a “No Action” PM to let the Mod know that you do not want to perform your expected action that Night phase.
6. As a general rule you should aim for one post every 48 hours, minimum, to keep the game moving.

Voting, Deadlines, and Player Death:

1. A simple majority (rounded up) of all living members must agree on one person for a lynch to occur prior to deadline.
2. Once you have reached a simple majority no further unvoting will change someone’s fate.  Further votes will also be ignored.
3. Once a player is lynched the game enters twilight until I post a death scene; all players including the one who was lynched may continue to post during twilight.
4. Please submit votes as: Vote: PlayerName. Votes will NOT be counted if they are not bold or do not follow this syntax!  Obvious abbreviations or nicknames will be counted so long as they are unambiguous.
5. Please submit vote revocations as either Unvote: PlayerName or Unvote. Unvotes are not necessary before changing votes.
6. You may not Vote: No Lynch - a simple majority of these vote types are required to send the game to Night phase without a lynch.
7. Once you are killed (either via lynch or night kill) you may no longer post. This means that you do not even get a “Bah” post. The dead in this game are silent. This is heavily enforced in this game. As well as players who are not player not being allowed to post either.
8. Do not edit or delete posts.  We don't want some players having more information than others.  If you want to clarify posts, feel free to double post.
9.This game will have 10-day deadlines

Miscellaneous/Mechanics:

1. Bold, lime green text is reserved for the Mod.  No invisible/small text is allowed, nor is cryptography.
2. If you have an issue/problem with the game, please PM the Mod privately.  Do not post issues/complaints in the game thread.
3. The Mod may make mistakes - please point out any mistakes gently.  Mistakes will be corrected where possible, but sometimes mistakes are made that cannot be reversed.  These will stand as final to be commiserated over after the game.
4. Please bold all requests to the Mod so that they don’t get missed.
5. Prods of missing players will be issued automatically after 72 hours of no activity or upon request after 48 hours of no activity. Prods will only be given on request.  A prodded player has 48 hours to respond or risks replacement.  A player who has been prodded 3 times is subject to replacement without further notice.
6. Rule violations will be dealt with according to their severity, up to and including a Modkill.
7. If you anticipate being unavailable for more than a 48-hour period please post a notice to that effect in the thread.  Treat this game as a commitment.  Be considerate – don’t leave us hanging. This game is actually a very serious BM game. So please, post.

The Golden Rule:

Please remember that this is a game and your main objective is to have fun! Be considerate of each other, don’t get personal, and enjoy the game.

Rules Specific to this Game!

1. This is a BM game, so some pretty crazy things are guaranteed to happen!
2. Anything said after a PINL will not be a lie. It might otherwise be a lie. Deadlines are always PINL Vote counts are not.
3. Dead players cannot post in-thread. Dead players can also not post in any quicktopics, other than the dead player QT.
4. Please treat this as a real game.
5. There may be Millers, Cults, Alignment Switching, Redirectors, and/or Bus Drivers
6. There will not be any Death Millers what-so-ever. That means that when some one is killed, the alignment of that player will be their actual alignment at the time of their death.
7. No post restrictions of any kind.
8. The majority of these roles are made up by me.
9. Flavor may or may not be random, depends on the mood I'm in   ;)
10. Role in this game will be given regardless of alignment. That means you may be an Order-aligned Godfather or a Traitor-aligned Doctor.
11. Role PMs will be given to players in this way:

Flavor Name:
This will be your flavor name. It describes your role as well as be shown when you die.

Alignment: Your alignment as well as your win condition. This will also be shown when you die.

Description: A short, flavorful description of yourself, followed by what your power is in the game. All players are guaranteed to have a power.

TO CLARIFY, I AM NOT A MODERATOR OF F.DS IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM.  IN THE CONTEXT OF THIS GAME, I AM MODERATING THAT THE RULES ARE FOLLOWED AND HIDDEN ACTIONS ARE COMPLETED PROPERLY.

Good Luck!

Dominion General Discussion / Bishop + market square
« on: March 27, 2013, 08:12:09 pm »
just noticed this nice little combo in a game of goko dominion, I trashed down to a throne room, bishop, market square, and a gold.  Throne the bishop, trash the gold, discard MS for gold, get an extra 1 VP from the throned bishop, and not buy anything. Of course, this doesn't need the throneroom, I just figured why trash it when it can give me a bonus VP?

Introductions / Wow just noticed this...
« on: February 21, 2013, 10:58:11 pm »
Hi I'm mail-mi and I've posted quite a lot, but never really introduced myself. I have a fan expansion (Dominion Fantasy) and I've played 1mafia game and am signed up for 2. Well... Um... Hi.

Maybe I should expound a bit. I love writing novels. Finished 2 rough drafts, writing two, and have a bunch of series planned. Look for "The Final Four" in the Apple bookstore in a couple years!

These are all of my updated cards. You may notice that one of the central themes is junking: almost all attacks junk, and there are cards that benefit from the junk.

Dominion General Discussion / Ready, Set, Transmute!
« on: February 09, 2013, 11:14:50 am »
So, while sitting in bed last night, I started thinking about a strategy with Transmute. It involves trashing all of your coppers for transmutes, estates for gold, and later Transmutes for Duchies then buying a lot of dukes.

Here's the game log where I tried it out.
 http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201302/09/game-20130209-080730-4c79380a.html

I'll admit its not the best strategy, or the fastest, but hey, its fun trying to make bad cards work, right?

65
Variants and Fan Cards / Reversing cards
« on: January 25, 2013, 09:15:07 pm »
So, a little while back, I posted a card in the bad card ideas thread (http://forum.dominionstrategy.com/index.php?topic=114.0) that was called Attic, which was just a reverse Cellar.

Attic
+1 Action
Draw any number of cards. Discard the same number of cards.
Action

Are there any other cards that the reverse of would be incredibly broken/actually a good card?

66
Variants and Fan Cards / One-shot, trash-for-benefit card?
« on: January 13, 2013, 08:06:25 pm »
I was thinking something to the sort of:

Action
$5
Trash this card. Trash a card from your hand. Gain a card costing up to 4 more than the trashed card.

What do you think? Does it need an on-buy or on-gain penalty like "When you gain this, gain a copper"?

67
Does anybody know why dark ages isn't on isotropic yet?

68
Variants and Fan Cards / Dragon
« on: January 10, 2013, 04:44:56 pm »
I have a fan card, but I can't decide the specifics of what it does (I know the basic idea) I don't have all that much time for playtesting, so I probably won't be able to decide on the specifics.

So here are the types of cards I'm thinking of. (The parenthetical comments are things I could put in.)

Dragon
Cost: $5 or $6 or $7 (probably not $7, but still.)
Action-Attack(-Looter possibly)
You may trash one (or up to two?) card(s) from your hand.
You may gain a curse (or a ruins) If you do, each other player gains a curse (or a ruins, your choice.) (Or just replace where i say "ruins" to "copper")

Or,

You may trash one (or up to two) cards from your hand.
You may gain a curse. If you do, each other player gains a curse.
You may gain a ruins (copper). If you do, each other player gains a ruins (copper)

Or,

You may trash one (or up to two) cards from your hand.
Gain a (or up to two) card(s). Each other player gains a copy of the gained card(s).

What I'm thinking is a card that gives you and your opponents bad cards, and if you play it again later and you get lucky, you can trash the bad card you gained. Should it draw cards to give it more of a chance to hit one of your bad cards? Should the curse/ruins/copper/any other card you gain go to your hand so you can trash it/use it?

69
Just some ideas, these haven't been playtested very much, so feel free to say anything!

Dragon's Hoard
Action
$5
+1 Action
If this is your only action card in play this turn, +$3, +1 Buy, otherwise +$1

Griffin
Treasure
$5
Worth $0
Reveal your hand. Worth +$1 for every victory card in your hand.
--
Once per turn, while this card is in play, if you buy a victory card, +1 buy, +$1
--
When you discard this from play, if you bought at least 2 victory cards this turn, you may put this on top of your deck

Centaur
Action
$4
+$2
Each other player gains a copy of the top card of the Centaur pile. Then put the top card of the Centaur pile on the bottom.
--
Set-up: Shuffle together the Curse, Copper, and Estate randomizer cards and put them faceup on the board. This is the Centaur Pile

House Elf
Action
$2
+1 action
Look at the top card of your deck. You may either put it into your hand, or discard it and put House Elf back into your hand.

House Elf FAQ: If played with KC or TR, and on the first play you put House Elf back into your hand, you still get the +1 action for the second play, and you look at the top card of your deck. If you decide to discard it, you cannot put House Elf back into your hand because it is already in your hand. With procession, you can still trash it from your hand, then you gain a card costing up to $3.

Titan
Action-Attack
$5
Reveal the top 4 cards of your deck. Trash any number of them. Draw up to 2 of the remaining cards and discard the rest. If you did not draw any cards, each other player gains a curse.

Puzzles and Challenges / 3 card magic
« on: December 31, 2012, 12:51:55 pm »
Okay, so here's the set:

You're using Dominion and Dark Ages

The 10 cards are:

Witch
Moneylender
Village
Feast
Cellar
Adventurer
Rats
Poor House
Pillage
Hermit

And here's some things you might need to know

You're playing with 1 opponent, so that means 8 Provinces
You're starting with the Shelters

And here's the catch.

You can only buy or gain 1 card after the first 2 turns. So that means 3 cards other than the Shelters and 7 Coppers, unless of course you decide not to buy anything on one of the first 2 turns. After those 3 cards, you can only buy provinces. Oh yeah, and did I mention that other than Coppers, you can't buy money?

So this is how it goes. Your opponent buys 3 coppers for his cards, and strangely he doesn't get any provinces (I wonder why?)

So, what cards do you buy?

Edit: Removed the perfect shuffle clause

71
It all started when you fell asleep reading your favorite fantasy book. Or perhaps it was merely a fiction. Anyway, when you awoke, you knew something was wrong. Your kingdom was in ruins and the dragon was about to finish the job. You kingdom destroyed, it is up to you to rebuild and conquer those enemies you call neighbors, all in the middle of a fairy tale.

This is my fan-expansion to Dominion, Dominion Fantasy, and here are the cards. (Stuff in parenthesis is "maybe I'll put it in there")
