Mafia Game Threads / Re: M113: sufjan stevens (day 1)

Completely forgot about this. Will catch up shortly.

What's a sufjan ?

29
Even the day one lynch was really bad, it was so clearly scum driven because nothing happened all day and it was impossible to get more than 3 people to commit to anything then all the sudden five people were happy to lynch joseph.

Eh, town is happy to lynch basically anyone day 1 too, so I don't know about that.

30
Tracking EFHW looks really dumb, but all of the actual scum were in my "too obvious to be doing the kill" list.

31
I mean my analysis was correct... and I even ended up suspected O but him and gkrieg needing to be scum together made the less appealing to lynch than, you know, Datswan. Or Robz, why did I unvote Robz ??

32
But also congrats scum.

33
I suck. This game was so winnable on day 2, how did I mess that up ? Urgh.

Well, everyone you mention is kind of in that consensus as well. They all have votes right now.

PPE: This was in response to Galz.

Upm, looks like this game is dying ? I"m felling less sure about Robz anyway, would expect more of a fight from scum! him. Let's vote: ash. Still think I like Robz hammering though... gkrieg and Eevee also acceptable.

theorel doesn't get town points for analysis, he gets town points for that analysis seeming to come from a town perspective. Strongest town read in the game to me, in large part because his approach to the IDPTG thing was messy in the way town generally is.

That reads list by gkrieg is scummy.

I appreciate theo’s analysis.  He didn’t include some details which don’t seem super important (like if I’m scum, there’s a guarantee that Town dies on hammer, but if I’m town then we do have a chance to kill scum) but actually matter when trying to determine what info Theo has.

I think the fact that Theo takes as a given that my Lynch results in an extra Town death means one of: 1) we are both scum and he knows none of our team will hammer; 2) he is scum and the team discussed making sure they don’t hammer; 3) he somehow forgot to take it into consideration.

You all can make your own decisions, but I think #3 is least likely, and I actually know I’m Town.

If Theo is mastermind scum here, he’s setting up multiple mislynches plus directing a possible weak visitor to get a free additional NK.

Something to consider.

I think (though I could be wrong), that by the time I included town-possibilities for anybody, I had already established that we should only lynch scum-ash last.  So, I wasn't super-concerned with what happened with town-ash, since we shouldn't lynch you this early, even if you're scum.  If you want some future game advice...um lynch ash if you think he's scum, and there's only 1 scum left.  If you're at 4v1, then there's room to make a mistake.  If you're at 2v1, make the scummier player hammer him.

Or we could agree to lynch ash, then vote on a hammerer and lynch the hammerer if they refuse.

In theory, yes. In practice I think it'd be somewhat complicated, but if we get to L-1 on ash we should do that yes.

Obviously, I think Robz should be the hammerer in that case (not for role interactions reason, just for likelihood to hit scum).

I just don't have the time to reread this game, so I guess I should vote becuase I'm not helping matters here.

I think strongly theorel is town. I can't make sense of the IDPTG/Galz thing. It doesn't make sense for a scumteam to shoot Galz, I know that. I think the easier explanation is they're both town.

Mainly, what I think about day 2 is that scum was hanging back and let us bury ourselves. So mostly ash, but also Robz. Actually feel stronger about Robz, so vote: Robz

Why do you feel stronger about Robz?

In day 2 someone said something along the lines of "Robz is active and helpful, he's town", and that's kinda why I think he's scum. not that town!Robz can't be helpful, he's just much more... controversial than this I suppose. "Agreeable" is not something I'd say of town!Robz in general, but I would say it in this game. Now the circumstances are a bit different with Robz being focused on IRL (and yes, congrats on finishing the book!) so it never quite became a strong scum read, but I've been slightly suspicious of him all game... and the Robz v mcmc thing feels somewhat artificial too, to an extent.

ash I just don't know. He's baiting us into lynching him I think, in the hopes that he can manipulate the situation to kill someone (or use the fear of him being active to "catch" scum somehow)... scum!ash can certainly do stuff like that, but the weirder his play is, the more likely he is to be town in general.

I had a bad feeling when the lynch went through so easily yesterday. It seems like we are doing what scum wants us to be doing.

This gives me the scums.  It doesn't really offer anything, and tries to put blame on other people.

While it gives me the towns because I feel the exact same way. I agree it's not productive in and of itself though.

Ok, so I still haven't had the time to reread, but on the mcmc thing:

mcmc is very likely town
Galz and IDPTG are most likely not scum together
IDPTG seems super scummy

Right ? His choice of targets is 100% that of a scum Neighborizer : clearing the guy who neighborized him to gain his confidence, and then neighborizing someone who's about to die... except nope, Galz didn't die. I guess that involves scum shooting Galz, which is pretty dangerous... maybe that doesn't work after all ?

Hm. Ok, so does Galz/IDPTG make sense after all ? Eh, maybe. I still need to reread I think.

Yeah, I don't think Galz's night action is great, but I guess I don't see how town!Galz would use it in a productive way anyway, and I don't see what scum!Galz gains from claiming this either. I guess it can alleviate the whole "PRs are suspicious because why did scum shoot EFHW instead" maybe ? Meh.

I think people should take more time to reread (I will at some point this week when I have the time). We got day 2 very, very wrong.

My guess is EFHW was killed because she was possibly a strong PR, not because her reads were either really good or really bad or something.

It's sort of interesting EFHW got killed instead of Teproc, though.
After thinking more, I agree with this.  Given mass-claim, scum knows exactly who to target based on role.  They killed the doctor first, then the full-time Tracker.

Regarding killing with good reads, I think it probably happens more late-game.  Galz in M100 did that, right?  i.e. he killed O, even though O thought he was town? I mostly just looked over post-game.  I think scum more frequently avoids killing people with good reads out of paranoia, even though it's usually the better move, because people will seldom rethink their reads based on surviving.

It's a bit different when there's only one surviving scum, sure.

Which isn't to say "well EFHW's reads must have been great" at all. But I've never seen a scum kill on someone who had terrible reads because they had terrible reads.

Well, I messed that up. I'll have to reread, I do think the Swan wagon can be informative.

PPE: In my experience, scum kills people they are afraid of, they don't kill for WIFOM.
