So, I was flipping through the rules and reading about the knockout rule.  The rule says if you take a number of wounds equal or greater to your handsize limit, you discard your hand.  Then it says "This minotaur here is a good example, look what it does to your starting stats".

But the Minotaur is brutal with attack of 4.  Since it does 8 damage unblocked, and you have 2 armor to start with, you should take 4 wounds, and not get knocked out right?
I'm rather confused, the first time I read the rules I wasn't paying that much attention and I was like, "oh ok, they're using a basic example of a monster that can knock you out on its own, that's smart", but now when I reread I'm like hey, that's not making sense to me.

So what's the status here

Outpost is pretty, and I like the card ok.

I accidentally removed my fishing village picture, but I'm too lazy to recover it.

The rules seem to indicate that I can wait a while and finish off the other enemy later.  Therefore,

Use Double Move to move to the nearby ruins
Discard the spell in my hand (mandatory)
End my turn

The one next to my hex

What happens if i kill only one enemy at the adventure site?

The status says we are all level 1.

Assuming your opponent can't find a way to make use of his draws seems shortsighted, in a way reminiscent of when I was 7 years old and felt certain that in 2 years I could catch up and become equal in age to a 9 year old friend.

Your opponent has lots of ways he can use the extra cards.
1. He can share Masonry
2. Selection for Clothing, which will force you to stop your strategy to block, possibly forcing you to meld castle cards.
3. Card selection in the general sense.
4. Tools
5. And since you're clearing out the prehistory pile 3 cards at a time, the 2's are worth consideration, Currency, Canal Building, and Road Building can all mobilize extra cards in hand.

What would you evolve into Eevee?
Meh, flareon? Certainly not vaporeon, that's one questionable creature.

they make a movie about your life. who plays sudgy?

You know you have more than two options, right???
no, I really really don't!

@wero
I've never tried it. I'm sure I'll give it a fair chance eventually. God I hope I'll like it.

will robby go goko?
Oh, so you aren't a genuine pokemon nerd.  That explains why it says "A wild Eevee" appears, too, even though Eevees don't appear in the wild.  (at least not in any of the generations I've played, including the first 3.)

You can't put a price on friendship, though.

3 player Masqeurade works if you personal message your opponents, which skype supports.  Admittedly it's a pain.  But, mostly you want to be playing 2 player.

philosophyguy played a few games with me, thanks for taking interest in the game pg

Do they have a point counter?
Does Goko?  It wouldn't be hard to track your points in Notepad or something.

5043
You could also do this in a Google Hangout...
6 of one, half a dozen of the other.

This removes almost every advantage that playing online has....

-Fast setup time
-Faster play time
-Not having to count up points at the end
-Faster cleanup time
-Not having to own all the actual sets (Goko sets are way cheaper than real sets, and only 1 player needs to own them)

The one online-advantage it retains is the ability to play against people who aren't physically near you. But if I were going to play with real cards, I would rather play with a group of friends IRL every time.
I'm not suggesting everyone go buy all the physical sets to save money on Goko.  There's people who already have all the sets, or all the sets they enjoy playing.
You can also get away with a little proxying for the cards you don't have.
If you have friends nearby who are good at dominion and enjoy playing with you, why in the name of Rats are you playing online anyway?

Dominion General Discussion / The online option Goko won't shut down
« on: March 15, 2013, 05:05:04 pm »
Or, I don't know, maybe they can shut it down, legally.  But it would be such a classless move they are unlikely to do it.  Because you generally have to purchase official product to do it.

I'd like to point out, for the people that don't want to play on Goko, there is another way you can use the internet to play Dominion through the internet - Skype voice chat.  I've played several games this way, maybe 8.  They run smoother than you might expect.

Experimentation revealed that using a camera to play the game is kind of hard, but what works rather well is to simply recite things that are happening as you play.  It's like the iso text log, except audio instead of written.  Whenever your opponent announces a purchase, you just remove a card on your end from the game.

Skype offers:
Official card art!
Voice and text chat!
Full card customization!
Preserved sessions on disconnect!
Unlimited custom card usage and nearly 100% correct rules enforcement!

Somewhat facetious.  But anyway, I encourage you guys to give it a shot.  People like me that don't want to pay twice for the game can play all they want this way.

Send me a pm, anyone, if you're interested in playing with me.  Or just use the thread to bash playing by Skype before you try it.  Whichever.

Dominion General Discussion / Re: Cards with no optimal opening

I know.  I'm saying I think Procession/Squire/Saboteur/Nobles/Village/King'sCourt is a better solution than Procession/Squire/Torturer/Nobles/Village.

Should Procession be on this list? and dare I say Spy?

EDIT: Scratch Spy, I think there are some Peddler kingdoms that would want it

Procession/Squire with Torturer, Nobles and Village in the board or something like that could be pretty strong I think.

That really seems like buying the carriage before the horse.  When Procession doesn't collide with Squire you virtually guarantee inability to purchase a Torturer.  Processioning the Squire is an incredibly strong play, no doubt, but it doesn't instantaneously win you the game, which is how strong it'd have to be to be worth that big risk.

Torturer games tend to be too fast for you to risk durdles.  If you want a Squire opening, I think something like a Saboteur engine would be much more forgiving if you whiff turns 3/4.

Innovation General Discussion / Re: Echoes: Race to Industrialization?
« on: March 15, 2013, 01:47:13 pm »
Echoes Industrialization is really strong.  It's probably the most powerful card in Echoes Innovation.  I don't know if that necessarily means it needs to be toned down, because unlike, say, a nutty turn 1 card, there's a very complex set of possible ways you can try to play around Industrialization.  Having the most factories, maneuvering so that your opponent draws Echoes 6's, crown cards, etc.  I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying, make sure you are certain there aren't enough good answers before you make a judgment.

I don't really know how many IRL games you've played, so your jury may have already deliberated long enough, but if the ones I see on the leaderboard are the only ones I don't think it's late enough to make such a harsh verdict.

ksasaki may be the only person qualified to teach echoes related strategy (the other highly ranked players play only base or mostly base).  So if you plan on playing with the expansion, hit him up.
