1. Watchtower
8. Secret Chamber

6. Caravan Guard
3. Trader

5. Moat
4. Horse Traders

7. Beggar
2. Market Square

I haven't had a chance to play with either Beggar or Market Square, so they're left neutral.
However, I really enjoy Trader. It's so fun to have an extra buy sitting around and be like "Oh, I guess I'll buy a Copper...waaaiiittt: It's a SILVER! HAHA!"

Voting for favorite because it's more fun.

1 King's Court
2 Walled Village

3 Crossroads
4 Mining Village

5 Herald
6 Farming Village

7 Hamlet
8 Plaza

9 Royal Carriage
10 Village

11 Throne Room
12 Squire

13 Fortress
14 Festival

15 Fishing Village
16 Port

17 Procession
18 Shanty Town

19 Ironmonger
20 University

21 Wandering Minstrel
22 Bandit Camp

23 Inn
24 Lost City

25 Border Village
26 Bazaar

27 Golem
28 Nobles

29 City
30 Worker's Village

31 Native Village
32 Coin of the Realm

Only hard one for me was Border Village vs Bazaar. I mean, I like both of them, but for totally different reasons.
Also, I really really like Worker's Village. I hate stopping my building of an engine to pick up +Buy. So since it comes from my village, it's great! (and by extension Hamlet, and to a lesser degree Festival).

I just learned that the gain on University is optional. I always thought you had to pick up an action card when playing University.

I'd choose Tactician. Simple, Elegant, and he comes across as a brooding tactical (ha) genius.

But for the love of St. Patty do not do Noble Brigand. As someone who has a semi vested interest in archery, that art work makes my teeth grind everytime I see it. The problem is that the way he is holding the bow/arrow is that the arrow would just fall to the ground instead of staying next to the bow, as depicted. (See how it's not supported on the side that gravity wants you to go...). Especially if he tried to shoot it. Boink! Right into the ground.

I don't understand what the Poll is asking me.

However, this is what I would like to see on the card:

India-Panther: Action-Reaction, $5
Trash a card from your hand. Gain a card costing up to $2 more than it.
If the gained card is an action, play it.
_______________________________________________________________________
When any player gains a Victory card, you may reveal this from your hand.
If you do, the player gaining the card puts it on top of his deck.

I really like the self synergy of Kodiak. Turn that Silver into something super rad and play it! sign me up every time.

Speaking of which, I prefer my D&D without experience points. It seems such a foreign concept, but it works really well in games with experience levels (so don't try this with GURPS).

Did someone say GURPS!?!?!?  8) Man, that is my go-to gaming system of all systems.

Back to D&D: My GM's always ran their games essentially sans experience points. They just gave us whatever they felt like challenges were worth, not based on the amount of monsters we killed. So we always leveled up when the GM wanted us to. But it was fun to count up how much EXP we got at the end of a session.

As to GURPS: I love how PCs grow organically overtime with the constant inflow of character points.

I'm shocked that I couldn't find a thread for D&D, but I'm making one now. So, does anyone play? Or DM? What generation do you play? Do you have any tips? Any monsters in particular you like to see? Certain classes/races you like to be? Thoughts on NPCs joining the party?

I played tons of 3.5 back in the day and got my feet wet with 5th a little bit ago.
As to NPCs: When I GM I let my players hire anyone they want to shell out money for. This typically ends up being a "healer" of some kind as no one wants to play the party medic.

I don't think I understand Redistrict. Could someone explain?

Is this the correct way to handle it?

Let's say my hand is Copper, Copper, Copper, Estate,  Redistrict

I play Redistrict and trash my Estate to gain a Silver. Then, I can trash Redistrict to gain a four cost?

BTW: Fantastic Fan Expansion LastFootnote

If gains/buys wins; I'm hoping for "another player gains",

Me too! ;D

Also, I wonder if MTG's "Miracle" mechanic could work... that is "when you draw this". I think that was done on a fan card at some point. Some people will say that the problem is you draw straight into your hand, and at that point how do you prove that the reaction is one you just now drew... but MTG did it anyway despite the exact same limitations.

Playing with the "Miracle" Mechanic  in MTG was fine becuase you typically only drew one card at the start of your turn and shuffled your deck way less. Pretty easy to make sure you didn't mess up and/or to see if your opponent was playing legitimately.

I can see this being problamatic with Dominion. However, once people get used to that, it won't be too hard to track.

41
-When another player gains [a different certain card]

Or this could even be "When another player gains [a type of card]". Action, Treasure, Victory being the most common.

42
Of all the reaction,s I like the ones that trigger on gaining the most.

"When an opponent gains a card". Reacting to what opponents do could be interesting.
"When you enter your buy phase". I was going to say "when you play a treasure" but that could be annoyingly common, so I went with when you typically could play a treasure (edge case Black Market and Storyteller) so the buy phase.

transmogrify / guide use the transmorgify at the start of your turn to trash and then call guide to draw a new hand of five cards. works best with multiple transmogrifies on your tavern mat.

The whole point of Transmogrify is that you get to use what you upgrade into right away. You can't trash and gain nothing with Transmogrify (excluding the edge case of an empty Copper and Curse pile).

Well we played that card completely wrong last night  :-[. I'm going to pretend that we used ratcatcher in my memories instead...

Oh man Warf lost the #1 non-attack spot... what is the world coming to?

46
Taxman/Stables: Stables often draws you a bunch of cards, so you can Taxman just the right treasure to smooth your economy and hit the price point you need. It also guarantees you a treasure in your next hand. Just watch out for opposing Taxmen.

To piggyback on this...
Countinghouse/Stables The coppers you pitch to Stables will come right back into your hand! Also helps by digging for the Countinghouse and cycling your deck faster.

will be interesting to see how much higher embassy finishes than treasure trove...basically a measure of the value of being decent in engines

And because you can "attack" your opponent with the silvers.  8)

My brother has gummed up lots of my engines by just buying tons of embassies.

Variants and Fan Cards / Re: Non-exclusive Tournament?
« on: November 19, 2015, 06:10:36 pm »
Like, the real answer is Donald would have had to commission full 6 card stacks of every card and would have had to cut Harvest and, uh, what's in cornucopia, probably trade route, and like, Wishing Well, is that in there? Cut all that stuff from cornucopia just to have it.  So that's why it didn't happen. 100% sure Donald wouldn't tell you it was important to his design that everyone else lose access to Trusty Steed when someone got one.

 :o ?
Huh?

I'll probably just use the fat stack of blanks I have accumulated.

Variants and Fan Cards / Non-exclusive Tournament?
« on: November 19, 2015, 05:56:34 pm »
So I like the idea of Tournament. You match it with a province: Get a sweet Prize!
I also like that each prize is unique and that you can't get copies of them.

What I don't like is that if one player gets a Trusty Steed or Followers the other player can't. This seems like a totally un-Dominion like thing.

What are the consequences of having a separate Prize pile for each player? (Each player gets access to all five prizes, but can only pick up one copy of each prize. IE: P1 gets a Followers, P2 can still get one. However, P1 couldn't just grab two Followers faster than P2, if that happened).

I feel for Bag of Gold. Nobody wants it  :-[
Would Bag of Gold not be junk if it put the gold into your hand? Or gave two golds?
