What's wrong with Bandit Camp Big Money?  Surely Bandit Camp is better than Silver, each time you draw it represents 3$ instead of 2, albeit after a delay.  If you're not using dead draw and instead are using one or two powerful nondrawing terminals then Bandit Camp should be in your big money deck.

Bandit Camp is fine in big money, but the delay is actually very important. If it takes you three turns to cycle through your deck, you get to use a Silver you buy now three turns later, whereas it takes you six or seven turns to use a Spoils from a Bandit Camp you buy now.
Bandit camp has a 54.79% - 36.88% BMU

I piled in 11 turns using lurker hunting grounds uncontested. I had 8 duchies and 6 estates and the game ended with lurker, hunting grounds and duchies. It probably speeds up significantly in a mirror.

Your scoreboard that you placed in the bottom left corner blocks how many cards are left in your deck and blocks part of the vp counter as well. You could probably re-position it higher up and narrower ("DB" vs. "R") to avoid blocking these.

The right side of the log/chat is also getting cut off. We want to see your splendid wit!

Thanks JW, I'll be sure to make the window formatting even more obtrusive for next time :)

Most people cover the top of the log with things, but that is the opposite of what you appear to be going for. My recommendation is to place this on top of the province pile.
Actually you should put it in the center of the screen and make it really large. It is hard to see everything on it at this size.

Boo  :( (Disclaimer, this is a great article and I'm not blaming it in any way for my loss, but I'm just wondering what I did wrong here.)

Game #7225818

On this board I decided that there wasn't +buy and not much draw either besides lining up Heralds, so I decided to go double Count, ignoring lurker since I figured that the "engine" would take too long to set up, especially when I opened Count. Where did I go wrong? Was the engine better? Should I have not ignored Sea Hag? Thanks in advance.
The engine doesnt appear to be better. With a 5/2 you want to get thin asap. You want to get like 2 fv and a sea hag. If your economy is low(it probably is because you should thin aggressively) you should get a mine. You then try to win the curse split through a combination of playing hag as many times as possible and mining iggs and silvers into more iggs.
If you have like 5/4 you can pick up heralds to try to play your hag faster.

You win by ending the game with more points than your opponent.
You can also win by pinning your opponent or getting 50% vp.

Forum is generally better, the problem with both of these is they cost 5. 5 is a lot to pay for sifting in most games.

Dominion General Discussion / Re: The Value of Loan
« on: September 24, 2017, 07:45:49 pm »
While Spice Merchant has to decide between sifting and non-terminality or a consistent $2,
Drawing is much better than sifting.

It's a solid light trasher in Big Money games.  It doesn't take up terminal space, so Smithy/Loan is usually better than Smithy/Silver.  In engines, Loan is probably too slow and too limited.

Loan as a trasher is better than Forager, although Forager can be used as a payload.
According to the geronimoo's simulator
Smithy money without loan beats with smithy money with loan by 59.99% to 32.48%

The question was not "How many cards can you drawn from Tacticians in one turn?" it was "How many cards have you drawn from Tacticians in one turn?"

« on: September 09, 2017, 01:50:35 pm »
Your opponents are probably wrong. However, buying overlord turn 1 does give you a better shot at hitting 5 on the next shuffle(i think) and also lowers the probability of your overlord missing.

I have no problem with any of these people running the blog. Uh people(like people who are really good at dominion) should review and make sure the content is accurate and also useful to their target audience before it is posted on the blog.

I think he means to seaway earlier and then buy Villa in that turn in question and play it.
The distinction is dingan never said he played a card. Villa's extra buy triggers on the playing of it and not buying.

I would like to play example 3 with you...

Yeah. I calculate a 100% chance Council Room Big Money is NOT the optimal strategy, and that Lurker and Vineyards will both at some point have a part to play in the winning deck.

An engine seems hardly feasible here with Nobles as the only village. I think I'd go for a Nobles/Bishop/Lurker golden deck here, which gives 4 VP per turn indefinitely.
You can watch the engine deck live right now
