Dominion General Discussion / Re: Still A Better (Love?) Story Than Twilight - The Thread

Where the hell is the link to the Herbalist/Alchemist story from a few years back?
Flag bearer : I'm worried that the battle for the flag can turn games into ridiculous slogs, because it seems to me that even if you are getting more flag bearer than your deck can afford, the flag is too powerful to be ignored. The on-trash effect is very useful for that kind of situations. But what if we have no trashers ? Time will say. Anyway flag bearer a nice card that use the artifact mechanic in a very elegant way. Very good.
Treasurer : It seems to me that with treasurer players have two ways to play : either they fight for the key, or they trash coppers. Gaining from the trash is potentially interesting with tfb. Very versatile. But like flag bearer, the artifact seems strong, maybe too much. Good.
All gainers can only gain from the Supply unless they specify otherwise. Banquet doesn't and Ghost isn't in the Supply, so Banquet can't gain it.
For instance, you have to decide which cards to discard with Young Witch before opponents have to reveal whether they have the bane
Most of the obscure bugs are known about, and are just a much lower priority than the other work. And in most cases, what people would encounter aren’t actually bugs at all, so I don’t think this would help. They don’t have the problem of not enough things to do.
Really? Wow. I thought that Rio Games bought Dominion and I was assuming that under that corporate umbrella it made sense.
So is shuffle IT independent of dominion, or just like a third party contractor?
Shuffle iT is Stef, he has some kind of a contract with RGG.
It wouldn't necessarily be winning play, but it would be deeply amusing to gain an action and immediately play it twice via combining Citadel and Innovation.
Priest would be broken with Watchtower and Travelling Fair. If you play two Priests and have a Watchtower in hand, you can alternate between buying Travelling fairs and Coppers (then curses) for a net gain of 112 coins, giving you more than enough money to buy all the provinces.
Hmm...really? I thought the player with more victory points wins in such a deadlock situation.
The official rule is that you keep playing until you starve to death.
You mean I put down my Estate and pick it back up until I starve to death.
Maybe even bys you can buy?
It's correct that the +1 token can go on that pile. But your opponent's Estates should not get that bonus, because the Estates are not from that pile. (Any cards that are from that pile, get the bonus of course.)
I don't know if this works correctly on Dominion Online, I'm just saying.
Does anyone else get a Hitchhiker’s guide to the Galaxy vibe from the description?
6. Exorcist brings 4 uniques (note that ghost is always brought by an unrecoverable treasure and you cant waste a slot on masq, and the kingdom pile with it is only 1/3 of a unique effectively)
Why not get it from a Vampire instead? You only need one of them.
I am unsure what you are asking? Vampires can neither gain ghosts, nor can it recover a haunted mirror from the trash, nor can it take a haunted mirror from the opponent. Vampire as a pile only adds two uniques to the count. That's an easy bar to hit with any number of piles.
My point was that you can only gain ghosts via exorcist or haunted mirror. Gaining one via exorcist also allows you access to two other unique piles: imp and will-o-wisp. With the exception of gaining will-o-wisps from cards with associated heirlooms (So fool and...? I think it might just be fool), no way of gaining those brings more than 2 piles to the table so exorcist is the most efficient way.
The other way of getting ghost is truly bad. You lose the treasure so there was no change in unique numbers. Or you include Masq as a pile which lowers the average uniques/pile. And even so the pile that brings that heirloom is a card worth 2vp so its effectively only 1/3 of a unique.
I feel like this is a reasonable place to say "What's wrong with Royal Seal, they can't all be the best $5 ever."
How would you feel if the next dominion expansion entirely consisted of nerfed versions of existing cards that you ignore in most games? You just wasted your money. Card quality matters.
In addition to being bad, it's boring.

I don't know why people are pretending that engines with treasure payload are rare. It's still jarring to hear the pros have gone out of their way to avoid Silver and even Gold
Ruined Shepherd: +1 Action, Discard any number of Victory cards, revealing them. +2 Cards per card discarded.
I'm no good at these challenges, so consider my 16 as an initial lower bound:I can say that the Boon in my solution is not set aside by Druid, and my lower bound is higher. (I think 16 is actually the maximum number of times you can play Druid with Nocturne only, unless I missed some shenanigans involving Necromancer).
6 copies of Druid are set aside with 6 copies of Ghost. You have 4 copies of Druid in hand. One of the set-aside Boons is +Action.
I already experienced that in the military since I entered a few years later than most other people so a lot of the corporals were younger than me. It wasn't a very big difference though since it was only by like 1-2 years.
The aspect of aging that I'm the most worried about is hearing. Just a while ago, I was shocked to realize that my mom literally doesn't hear anything above 8 kHz and then I was further shocked to realize that it's normal for people of her age.
