That I find amazingly pathetic. I wonder how much time he has spent doing this.

You know, there's one excellent way to fix that..  :P

I agree, MMM specifically stated a time frame during which you were to pull off a session with your opponent. If you don't show up you forfeit.

It should be forum time, which means your time if you've chosen your time zone in your preferences/settings.

Buggz and I finished a 7-game thriller with the last match being decided by 1 point.  I ended up winning, but it was a very competitive series.  Council room logs will be posted tomorrow.  Thanks for the matches Buggz.
Here we go. Good job on getting councilroom back up and running, guided.

I did a search on my isotropic name and got my page, all fine. But then I tried using "search for another player" which leads to localhost:8080 instead of the proper domain. Small bug, but also a small fix. :)

Congrats again, shark_bait! Great games, fun chat, I had a good time.

My only regret is not taking the time to think twice about the kingdom in that Horn of Plenty game; it strafed my mind because of a past log I'd read which finished the exact same way, but for some reason I promptly proceeded to ignore it. The one where you ignored the colonies in order to take seven provinces in one swoop though, that took me completely by surprise. Well played!

I'll be back if there are more tournaments on the horizon.

Ending condition modified for 4 empty piles instead of 3.
Which is exactly why City has "two or more" empty supply piles in its description. That had a friend of mine confused for a long time.

To me "gg" is a way to humbly admit defeat, simply leaving a game saying nothing is often considered a ragequit.

The card in question explicitly says "This is not in the supply.", but is otherwise a perfectly playable normal card.

One point he keeps coming back to is that in order to get better you have to lose a lot, because you're playing against more skilled opponents.
In poker there's a story about the 6th best stud player in the world. His problem was that he was consistently playing against the other five.

Simulation / Re: count gains needed to end game or Provinces left?
« on: September 30, 2011, 11:18:50 am »
I'm sure some smart optimisations could negate most of that disadvantage, e.g. by only observing stacks with 4 or fewer cards left. That way you'll mostly scan the province/colony stacks and only the other stacks when actually needed. Maybe only when two or more stacks are in that "danger zone". I guess it could be ignored if the kingdom is lacking in +buy too, removing the extra computation from another couple of games.

According to the rules.. it IS a win!  :D

But I'll still call it a draw.

I also enjoy 3P games the most. 4P games are still great fun, but rather because of the social aspect. I've tried a couple of 5P games, but then you're waiting too long before stuff happens, attack cards resolve astonishingly slow and the games tend to end after a rather short amount of turns that still takes a while to play, which in turn means the deck doesn't get shuffled that often.

I think this is a card that'll need plenty of playtesting, it's hard to imagine the true effect in play. How about discarding the card instead of revealing?

ed: whoa, was there a modification to your post or am I becoming half blind? :P

1. Games with Colony and Platinum. I'm still working the math of Gold and Provinces.
2. Potion cards. Sloooooooooooooooow. I know they are powerful and some are too good to ignore, but I hate getting the potion balance right.
Potions: See if there are trash-for-benefit cards out, especially apprentice, salvager, remodel or mine, because those can turn your potions into gold, coin, draws or other really useful cards after you've gotten your golems, familiars, whatever. Try limiting yourself to get back into increasing general deck value early rather than late (it's hard). Drawers help, you need to shuffle faster than your opponent.

Colony games: the best way to work out that math is... to play more colony games. Nothing teaches that like being murdered by a better deck composition or stumbling over a great combo by chance. Don't read too much about it, get the feel for it.

Treasure-Victory   3
Worth $1 for every victory card in play.

Worth 1 VP

This is one of my favorite cards. I don't think it's too overpowering to chain with itself, but I suppose with chapel and lab it MIGHT be a bit much. But usually it'll be copper+estate or $1.5 + Estate, which is really quite reasonable.
You mean in hand? Considering that Harem, Nobles and Great Hall are the only playable victory cards (Island removes itself from play immediately).

Is this like what you have: http://www.coolstuffinc.com/main_supplies.php?fpid=Acc-BCWCS3200ct?
Box: $4
Get it shipped to Norway: $60
Worst thing is I actually considered it for a couple of seconds.

Below is my current setup. I'm using the Main Set and Cornucopia boxes, because they can fit exactly three rows of cards horizontally. The dividers are from BGG (can't remember which ones, but they're printed doublesided), and for the last three expansions I'll just swap out the Cornucopia box with Intrigue when necessary. The basic treasure/victory/curse cards are in the middle with four 10-card starter decks along with the mats and chips, so a session can start rather quickly. A nice box like that from coolstuff would be awesome, but damn. Sixty bucks..

In that case, use a specific one (the player to your left/right) to avoid introducing politics.

Donald has several times said something along the lines of "if it's fun, do it", but as stated in rinkworks' excellent guide to fan cards the cards in the trash are there for a reason.

What it also says is playtest your cards. So, how is it?

Same here and I feel a bit stupid about it because I still don't get it after the big hint and everything. I'm just waiting for the Palm of God to hit my forehead.

Yeah, but for a main and solid principle that might be a little bit to unsolid...
I disagree. When playing live those cards never even reach the trash pile. I believe that was Donalds intended way of playing it, but the current way of describing it was the least ambiguous.
