Hey, I have a somewhat related question.  I had a game the other day, and my opponent seemed pretty upset that I was getting "lucky" (my chariot race got me lots of points.  I trashed all my coppers and estates and he had lots of spoils, so it didn't seem too lucky to me) at the end of the game he/she said "gg, nl"  what is nl?

I looked over this case (user was reported to me). While the "play faster" guy is indeed being a jerk, he isn't actually breaking any rules. I can't justify banning him. However, situations like this are what the blacklist feature is for (on both sides). If you don't want to encounter him again, just blacklist him. Irrelevant if he blacklisted you already, of course.

Wait, do you work for Shuffle IT now? Or you're a moderator/admin or something?

He volunteers in this banning-people capacity.

Dispensing vigilante justice in your free time is basically the American dream, after all.

At the end of the day, it's more cards, and I enjoy playing with them. Actually, there are fewer cards in the set I would put on a banlist than in some other sets, so by that metric I think it's doing well. I love lots of the cards! Some of the mechanics aren't top shelf Dominion, but I mean, neither were Potions and somehow we're still okay.

Bit of shame that he didn't mention how much more thematic Nocturne is than previous sets. That has always been a big criticism of Dominion. Although I never really understood it myself.

To be fair, he did mention that in the review, and said he thought one of the great things about Dominion was that it didn't need a theme and was just fun. I think it's implicit that he thinks Nocturne is trying too hard to have a theme, but I could be reading too many Youtube comments. (always a mistake)

It seems unfathomable to me that more paper games could have been played. I'd imagine that the number of games played online in a single year probably rivals the number of games played in person (all-time). Even if there are outliers (like Tozar's claim here) the sheer number of games individuals play in a single day has to be much greater online, enough to compensate for the number of players who don't play online at all. I alone have played at least 20,000 games online, which is higher than the average surely, but the thing is I'm not the only one who has done it.

I'm also one who struggles to see why Triumph is so good. It seems like you need a lot of things in place for it to work. You need a deck that can gain a bunch of cards in a single turn, and then you need to deal with the Estate. I doesn't seem like something that's always going to be good.

There's an Article in the Articles subforum you can check out.

Triumph is really, really strong in the presence of lots of gainers. You basically cannot ignore it when it's relevant.

Undo requests and denials are not grounds for bans or any kind of moderation, just to clear that up. Players are within rights to deny whatever undo requests they want.

When I saw the Upgrade Pack boxes and how small they are, I was actually super pleased. I'd prefer if all the sets were packaged that way (with dividers instead of an insert). I understand why it won't happen, though. Sad!
