I remember Stef mentioning changes to Black Market on his stream and asking for feedback in passing. Did you intend to entertain the chat with it or are you still interested in feedback?

fyi the changes he mentioned were that the black market deck wouldn't be displayed in the chat anymore aswell as the BM deck being shuffled wenn you've seen every card once.

Dominion League / S16 Champion Match: Sunday 21-8, 19:00 UTC

gamesou will be playing Stef, having to catch up five games which means he will need to win atleast 5,5 of the 6 games. Regardless of the results, we'll be seeing 6 games between the two.

2016 DominionStrategy Championships / Rules

1.Tournament structure
1.1 Single elimination is the structure of the Tournament
1.2 Byes in round 1 so we'll have a full bracket from round 2 onwards.
1.3 full seeding based on isotropish leaderboard

2.Match structure
2.1 Best of 6 games, a win counts for 1 point, a tie for 0.5 points.
2.2 If either player reaches 3.5 points it's over.
2.3 Both players get to start 3 games. Do random starts until either player has started 3 times is the default. You may alternate starting players if both people prefer that.
2.4 If it's 3-3 after 6 games, play a deciding 7th game with a random starting player.
2.51 If the 7th game is a tie according to the dominion rules, the 2nd player in that game wins.
2.52 In the Semifinals and Finals, 2.51 does not apply and further games with alternating starting players will be played until a winner is determined.

3.Timing
3.1 The tournament starts on Monday 3rd of October. We'll play one round a week, and you're supposed to schedule a suitable time with your opponent yourself.
3.11 If a player isn't responding to schedule proposals or does not show up to a match, their opponent receives a bye for the round.
3.2 You can sign up until Friday 30th september.
3.3 FYI: Dominion League season 17 ends on Sunday 2nd of October, and season 18 will be delayed by a couple of weeks.

4.Environment
4.1 The default is the Making Fun platform, with the point counter enabled, on fully random sets.
4.2 If both players agree you're free to change this (play IRL, disable point counter, always include/exclude some cards, ...)

5. Incomplete games
5.1 If a game ends due to an unintentional disconnect from the game, discuss the gamestate with your opponent
5.11 If the game was still close, simply replay the game.
5.12 If the lead was almost insurmountable for one player, award a win to the player who was ahead.
5.2 In event of encountering a bug that significantly alters the game (e.g. wrong VP counter), replay that game.
5.3 If you have trouble coming to an agreement, put the match "on hold" and message the admins with the situation that occured. Finish the rest of your five remaining matches and if nobody exceeded 3,5 points, await the moderators' decision.

Hey,

in this thread you can sign up for the f.ds Champioship 2016. You don't need anything to sign up besides a (free) MF account; everybody is welcome to join.

To do so, please state your MF account name as it appears on the isotropic leaderboard. If your forum name matches your MF account a simple /in or a picture of that Dominion card will suffice.

The signups are open until September 30th, the tournament will start on October 3rd.

Basic info:

Signups are open until September 30th, the tournament starts October the 3rd.

Your commitment to the tournament is one match containing up to seven games per week until you are eliminated (single elimination).

Your skill level/forum activity is irrelevant, everybody may signup. Please make sure you're active during the tournament though. If you signed in and something comes up, please edit your post in the signup thread.

It's that time of the Season again, the last match to determine our new Dominion Overlord, who shall reign over his Empire... just kidding, it's still only  Adventures. Our challenger Stef has quite a Mountain Pass to climb, needing 4,5 out of 6 to claim the title. Therefore, the reigning Champion Mic Qsenoch only needs two matches. Who do you bid on? Dominion: Empires Previews / Favourite Card/Event/Landmark?

We've looked at the rules for eighteen hours now, so we already have picked some favourite cards, right? Atleast the ones you are most looking forward to. Here are mine:

card: I'm a huge fan of Split piles, and Catapult is probably my favourite. I just love the trend that you have to put work into attacking your opponent instead of just making attack cards broken. It's probably one of the weaker cards, but I don't mind that.

Event: Donate is insanely crazy which is always cool but my favourite has to be Tax. Hooray for seond player advantage. I'm also looking forward to mess around with the debt tokens. (Put all the dept on Provinces, I wanna build more!)

Landmark: Tough call, I think it is Orchard at the moment. I mean who doesn't like getting action cards?

General Discussion / EURO 2016?

So who else is excited for the EURO Championship starting this Friday?

Also, what are the teams to look out for? Besides the usual suspects like Germany, Spain and Italy? Switzerland and Belgium are probably the teams that may cause some upsets, although that has been said for several years now, maybe they'll finally show up. I've heard that La Grande Nation is supposed to be a secret favourite aswell, after getting rid of all their morally dubiuos players.

Besides rooting for my home country and waiting for Wales to beat England, I'm really looking forward to seeing Iceland play after their great qualifier. Speaking of Iceland, shoutout to my Dutch neighbours, I hope you will have an enjoyable Championship aswell from the couch

So what are your thoughts? Other teams you'll be lookng forward to seeing?

2015 / [Poll] 2016 DominionStrategy Championships?

Hi,

since the Championship was so much fun last year, why don't we have another? That is an excellent question, so let's get started. This poll should answer two questions: Firstly, it should determine whether enough people would like to play in this tournament, so please select option three instead of abstaining if you don't care about the date. Secondly, it should obviously settle a date. These dates are the end of the League season 16 and 17, so there shouldn't be an overlap between the two. Starting at a later date is not feasible if we want to call it a 2016 Championship. The suggested dates are estimates, they may start a week later instead.

Keep in mind that this is only to gather interest, not a binding signup.

Regarding the structure of the tournament: Most likely, it will be a single-elimination tournament since it has been the most popular tournament form which doesn't have an established tournament. This means one match consisting of 6(7) games every week, until you are eliminated. If you would like to know more about how this tournament would be run, ask away! Most things will be handled like it was last year, though if there aren't any complaints.

Dominion League / How should the Kingdoms for the Championship Match be selected?

Hi,

after hearing your opinions about this during the last season, we decided to poll you now to make things official. You may select either your favourite or joint favourite methods to determine the Kingdoms. In the previous thread, it got clear that there are several different opinions, so we can not please everyone but,

if several options get a similar amount of votes, we'll alternate between them.

Quick explanation of the options:

1. Submission challenge as it has been for a long time. Possibly a design challenge occasionally.
2. All random, no selection wahtsoever
3. Themes was not clearly defined in the thread, it could mean cage matches, expansion theme (like in season 14) or other thematic precondition for kingdoms. Feel free to add suggestions for how this could work if you prefer this option.

The things that I think I did wrong:

-The plan opening. Maybe get it on T3/4? I like to put it on minion here though

-second shanty over hamlet was insanely dumb. Not quite sure about the first one.

-Maybe I should have stopped building and picked up one more duchy earlier? It would have probably meant quite a lot.

-Maybe skip the Saboteur pin entirely? I think it's the best payload against the rush here and it definitely felt satisfying even though I lost.

There is probably some more, I'd really like to hear your feedback

Mic Qsenoch vs Stef. The El Clįsico of the Dominion realm will see its next edition this Sunday at 19:00 UTC.

MicQ has a headstart of two matches due to his strong League performance, will he be able to defend his lead? The match itself will be played on randomzed instead of submitted boards, but with a tweak: The randomizer will be tilted towards Adventures cards and will always include two events. Simulation / Request for help: Distant Lands/Rebuild

Hi,

since I'm a complete illiterate when it comes to simulation programms or writing the code for it, I hope one of you guys can help me out.

So, Distand Lands is the second $5 ALT*-VP card which means the Duchy split is less important. It probably has some implications for the Rebuild-> Province mirror, but I want to simulate a different strategy: (Prov/Estates)

-Open Silver/Silver
-Buy Two Rebuilds, Silver when not hitting $5
-Buy Estates on $4 or less, for $5 or more another Rebuild
-When playing Rebuild, name Distant Lands and remodel Estates into Distant Lands
-play Distant lands whenever possible
-rebuild Distant lands into Province when three or more distant lands in deck
-rebuild estate into duchy when three(?) provinces are left

How does that look againt a classic rebuild strategy? For simplicities sake, the other player should ignore Distant Lands, and just play some non-mirrorish Rebuild strategy (since Provinces are not contested)

Dominion League / Season 14 has started!

Hi everyone,

welcome (back) to the fourteenth season of the Dominion League, potentially the first season that includes Dominion: Adventures online! Since the cards have been released about year ago, the mods have decided to include the new cards on its release in the League play. That means standard random from all cards is still the default way to determine the Kingdoms for your matches, but as you know, you may deviate from this procedure if both players agree to a different kind of kingdom generation (i.e. without Adventures).

Speaking of mods: As you may know, we lost two of our moderators over the course of the last few months (Adam and mpsprs). On a happier note, some of our current moderators will soon be occupied with exciting stuff outside of the Dominion League, which will (atleast temporarily) deter them from moderating . This is why we  decided to strengthen our mod team by four members, which are: Burning Skull, Deadlock, e (2.71828) and funkdoc. Please welcome them! Their help is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions or feedback, don't hesitate to write any of the new and old mods!
