If you don't like big numbers, you are a communist!

I can confirm that this is true. I Googled used my preferred search engine to find the phrase "communists like big numbers" (with quotes) on the internet, however there were no results. Therefore I can only conclude that if you don't like big numbers, you are a communist.

You all entered the football score World Cup predictor yet?

Also, is anybody NOT excited by the imminent World Cup?

There's a World Cup happening? I have been led to believe the only sporting event happening right now is some French bike race... but I guess that's to be expected when I live in the famous French province of Yorkshire...

The game is a typical trade-resources-for-stuff Euro game except it has poker chips instead of cubes and "take the resources you want" rather than auction/worker placement/trading/other actual mechanic. Overall I think it's pretty average except for those chips. This is on my birthday list simply for the chips (and also my fiancee may even play it once in a while unlike a lot of my games).

The Nobles pretend to add variety but don't do that at all from my experience. IIRC they're all worth exactly 3 points. You need to have different sets of coloured cards to take them, but the variety in that literally stretches as far as the difference between 3 red, 3 green and 3 black vs. 3 red, 3 blue and 3 white vs. 4 blue and 4 white.

It sort of feels like half a game. Desperately in need of an expansion yet I still want my own copy. That's why it'll win the SdJ.

does anyone know how many cards there are total in all dominon expansions + base + intrigue?
dont wanna open a thread for that
205 unique kingdom cards.
mh... that's not what i was asking. how many physical cards are there including everything (spoils, victory cards, copper, etc)
500 for base, Intrigue, Dark Ages; 300 for Seaside, Prosperity, Hinterlands; 150 for Alchemy, Cornucopia, Guilds. Then you have to decide whether or not to subtract blanks, extra treasures/VP/Curses/Ruins for more players, and/or randomizers; and whether to add the alternate art Base Cards product and/or promos.

Then you could add foreign versions.

You forgot the Promos.

Depends on the board.

Housing markets are awful, especially in London, going up about 10% a year.
2 bedroomed flats in really crappy areas are about £180k at the moment.
To buy an actual house anywhere in London where your likely not to get stabbed on your doorstep is at least £300k

Moving closer isn't an option, as work is in the middle of nowhere and I like to go out in london
Have you considered Michigan? According to Neil Gaiman, in Michigan you can get an Addams Family house for what in London would get you a parking space.

It's interesting that when you cite how expensive houses are in London, I think, wow, how affordable. Half a million dollars does not get you out of get-stabbed territory here in the SF bay area.

I'm pretty sure the commute from Michigan would take a little longer but id have to google maps it to find out.

the 300k was for a bad area, just not a terrible area.

The trouble is in the UK prices seem to be determined by number of bedrooms, rather than actual size. Which is stupid.

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/new-homes-for-sale/property-30151719.html?premiumA=true

£283 for 69sq meters on the outskirts of greater London (45min train ride from nearest station to Waterloo)

I actually clicked on that link planning to buy the property. Turns out you forgot to mention three zeros... and that it's in Croydon.

Bah, enough of that math stuff.  Here are some jokes.  And to make them funnier some British guy interrupts to explain them.

People from Australia are referred to as "British" now?

Turns out it was this:

Guess what the fan expansion of Cosmic Encounter is called?

Which will explain why I got a bit confused when I saw it quoted above... I think I came to the conclusion it was quoted from another thread or something.

strategy discussion from the numberphile guys

Haven't watched the video but is that James Grime in the preview screen? Completely irrelevant and off-topic (which makes it on-topic), but he was my lecturer before he got a job at Cambridge and became famous. One of the best guys I've ever known.

Well Robz would have done it sooner, except he also runs an illegal floating craps game, which takes up a lot of his time.

Floating craps, you say?

Then:

My taste in music is a bit different now... Also, I own nearly 300 physical CDs and I'm not gonna stop any time soon. There's more to an album than just the music, and unless I own all of it I don't feel like I really own it.

Disaster struck as my last game finished and I realised I no longer had any TTA to play. I had a look at the games in progress to find the next F.DS number and what I saw was horrendous. ZERO F.DS games in progress? What is this I don't even?

#97 and #98 up in attempt to rectify the situation. Both global, one 3p, one 4p.

Which it isn't... As has been mentioned on this page at least twice already.

When people do that thing with a verbal acronym where they end with a word from the acronym (e.g. "what's your ETA time") I call that an ancronym-nym or just nym-nym for short.

In the US, the most egregious nym-nym is SSN number.

PIN number!
The TTP Project.

Also, TIARA is a recursive acronym.
