While Experiment, Magpie, Rats and Peddler have unique variants of their mechanics, I wouldn't say any of them have unique mechanics.

Well, it just goes back to the question of what constitutes a unique mechanic. Magpie and Rats, it's pretty easy to say that they're just twists on the old "gain X" mechanic. But the "Return to the Supply" bit of Experiment and Encampment, that seems like something new to me.

Ambassador returns to the supply. Madman and Wish return to non-supply piles.

It's probably impossible without Black Market (particularly if you consider Island, Pirate Ship, Native Village, Trade Route etc as each having their own unique mechanic).

My #347 sounds harsh, but I actually like Jimmmm and think he's a smart guy. Just typically unengaged until crunchtime (and liable to being mislynched for it.)

I've realise what I really need to get into a game is for someone to come out gunning for me. It gives me something to focus on apart from "this is a big game with lots of people and I don't even know where to start".

That's actually enough for me to

Let's see what you got.

A vote is not gunning for me.

From my PoV:

- If you're town, you need an incentive to play D1. A vote on you means other town/scum can vote on you, creating a sizeable wagon. I think that would force you to pay attention to defend yourself, thus generate more pro-town content from you.

- If you're scum, you need to feel some pressure, even if it's just a vote now, others might join the wagon, forcing you to actually play D1, which, hopefully, makes you drop some scumslips or useful interactions that'll be useful for future days.

So it's strictly better for me to vote for you. Unless I misunderstood what gunning means (maybe it's just someone saying "YOU'RE SCUM YOU'RE SCUM HERE'S 50 REASONS WHY" but I hope not because I can't do that...), this seems to be foolproof, right?

That's more like it. :P

@Jimmmmm, would you consider yourself a good D1 player? What's your scum meta?

No, not at all. I find I need things to respond to, and D1 typically doesn't do a good job at providing that. Not that I'm blaming anyone but myself.

It's been a while since I've been scum, but I've had some pretty good scum games in the past, so I think I'm seen as a fairly strong scum player. Scum scum scum.

Dominion General Discussion / Re: Dominion current Popularity?
« on: February 08, 2019, 04:10:50 am »
Obviously f.ds != Dominion, but there is surely a strong correlation between the popularity of the two.

So here are some graphs about f.ds from 2011 to 2018. Each data point is a percentage of the average for that series. The raw data can be found here.

So the number of new topics and new posts has been steadily declining since 2012. However, most people online and page views have been generally increasing. There seems to be no particular trend for new members; I suspect the peaks coincide with the release of popular expansions etc.

My conclusion is that compared to 2012-13, Dominion has a bigger fanbase as there are more people checking in on the forums. However, people are generally less excited about the game now, so there is less content being posted.

I'm not sure how much of an effect forum games, RSP etc have.

Cards I hate to play with. I love attack cards so there aren’t many on my list. Anyway here’s mine.

(Adventures) Raze-
(Cornucopia) Remake-
(Prosperity) Mint-
(Prosperity) Venture-
(Prosperity) Forge-
(Prosperity) Trade Route-
(Seaside) Navigator-
(Seaside) Explorer-
(Intrigue) Trading post-
(Dark Ages) Pillage-

What do you have against trashing?

So he only investigates as Changeling when investigates by Bashir. O’Brien or Worf will get “not MU” or “not Maquis” (unless Odo is one of those things)

I may be being a tad pedantic, but I'm questioning the "falsely". He might happen to be a Changeling, in which case Bashir will correctly investigate him as Changeling. Correct?

Odo -- flavor/role cop, falsely investigates as Changeling

Does this mean "Investigates as Changeling, falsely or otherwise"?

If he is, say, Maquis, will he return a negative result to the Maquis Cop?

I have to say, I'm quite proud of myself and my teammates for coming through in the end. Thanks Umbrage for believing me! Of course scum shot themselves in the feet quite badly. :P

I enjoyed the fake Cop result on me - that sort of thing tends to really help me get in to the game.

I was also super unsure about the last nk. UoS seemed like an obvious choice, but mcmc added extra level to that

Was your quick Day 6 vote a tactic? I was doubtful whether scum would do that.

other than me struggling with the time and game, i really tried toi play on changing my meta as i always bus and always interact with partners. Didn't work out, but it was a good experience, nevertheless

Your meta argument did make me doubt my instincts. I think it was a step too far, though, how little meaningful interaction there was between you and either of the other two in either direction.

Like half crumb half legit mistake I made.

Regardless of whether you made a mistake, it was either a breadcrumb or not. Did you intend to use that post to validate your RB claim?

How did I only just notice SS was an RB?

Was this a breadcrumb?

Umbrage, what was your reaction to seeing ss was a Roleblocker?

I totally missed it at the time. I think I must have seen it in the thread in one of those kind of minor checks when I should be doing something else, glossed over it and forgot, then only noticed it later in the day when someone said something about SS' rb shot.

Did you have thoughts about there being a Roleblocker before or after seeing the flip?
