What do you despise more than anything else in the world? Is it nails on a chalk board? Dull pencils? Stepping in the dog's water dish?

Annoying questions?

Is it really that bad?

I think this was mentioned in the Raid thread, but this card's -1 card token attack is stronger than Urchin's attack because the other player cannot choose what card they lose. It's more comparable to a Minion that doesn't cycle.

That is true, though it can't be that much stronger.

Ranger is going to be awesome if you can play two a turn, to consistently kick off +5 cards. It also always gives the +buy. However, I haven't played with this card. But seriously, +5 cards is more than Hunting Grounds, WITH a +buy? That's scary good. A fantastic engine card I would think.

The $5 cost is steep for a singular Silver, but the payoff over time can work by slightly hindering your opponent.

Engine: The ideal scenario is playing this card every turn, and only having one of them. It directly competes with $5 Action cards, the effect doesn't stack, and it's not a fantastic attack either to begin with, being a delayed Urchin that gives you $2 for a cost of $5. It might not hurt to pick this card up in longer engine games with poor trashing (or no trashing at all), but in quicker games it might just be completely skipped. If a discard attack AND Relic can be played in a turn and you have the ability to do that first and consistently, your opponent is going to just flat out lose.

On BM: I'm not so sure having more than 2 of these cards is worth it in BM decks. Sure, it's great to get if you hit $5 and you don't need any more draw cards. It's not so nice to get when Gold or Province can be bought instead. If it's convenient to get it, go for it. Otherwise, I can't see buying Relic over Gold on a $6. This is a card that if you want it, you want it early. It's no good trying to stop your opponent by buying this when there are two Provinces left and there's also Duchy dancing.

As an opening on $5/$2: Doesn't seem to be worth it most of the time. It's a weaker attack, and the benefits are marginal for you.

Also, combos with Storyteller.

Here is a real movie buff question. Has anyone got a link to the original "Backstroke of the West", not the more recent "Backstroke of the West: The Third Gathers"? Search engines are full of results for the latter so I can't track down the original.

For those who don't know, "Backstroke of the West" was a very famous US film, illegally dubbed into a Chinese version for Chinese cinema, and then given English subtitles (and the new name) based on the Chinese. See if you can guess the original name.

You mean George Lucas's ill-fated 6th directed disaster?

Moneybag
Action-Treasure

$4

+1 Action

$2

I don't know how to word it better, but basically this is a Treasure that can be played before the end of the action phase.

I watched The Birds by Alfred Hitchcock today. This will sound completely loony, but I think of it like a well made Michael Bay film. There's not much of a story, not much of a resolution. Just pure suspense, thrills, and action. There's even a Michael Bay explosion at one point. I laughed my head off when that happened. This movie did not age well at all, but I still liked it.

Unrelated, I just finished rewatching Shutter Island. OH MY GOD that movie is so amazing **_** Can we at least agree on that one?

An island for exclusively selling outside window covers?

But even in art, it's tricky to go against the consensus.  If you try to tell me that you think Beethoven's 1st Symphony is superior to his 9th, or that the Pieta is artistically inferior to the death masks of the Egyptians, that's going to be a really, really hard sell.

Well, it's not exactly a major achievement to be superior to Beethoven's 9th symphony.

Oh, Awaclus. :)

Sorry man, they're just not good movies, and for some reason everyone who talks about how amazing they are never explains me what is so good about them.

What is so bad about Episode 4, 5, and 6? What happens in the movies?

ehh. I see. That would be a much better joke if the prequels weren't better than the originals.

You either watched the movies when you were 2, or you're trolling. You have to be trolling.

Careful, or you'll hit yourself in your confusion.

I know it's a bit weird that the series "starts" with Episode 4, and I'm sure there are plenty of stories they could tell prior to New Hope, but I think it's a bit silly to be ranking movies that haven't been made yet, right?

who ranked movies that haven't been made yet?

I mean, I'm pretty excited about Rogue One...

In this case I agree with Awaclus. I don't even think the starwars movies qualify as 'mediocre'.

Heresy! HERESY! (The prequels are awful though)

No man, 2 > 5 > 3 > 4 > 6 > 1; the second of the prequels is the only movie worth watching.

!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

That's arguably the WORST Star Wars movie!

I remember having had this discussion in the past with Teproc, but he wasn't able to tell me what is bad about it.

It has a really good plot, not generic, untypical, even, with the good side having the larger army and the main characters not being the heroes at the end; It has cool locations; It takes itself seriously, for the most part (the chase in the beginning sucks and the comic relief in the end with C-3PO is the worst part about it); it does not require opponents to be utterly incompetent to work, or even the good side having extraordinary amounts of luck; it's not predictable; it sells the universe believably; it has no stupid over the top scenes like 3 and 4 and 6.

In other words, it's a good movie! Unlike 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7

You confuse me.

In other words, you agree that, on average, it is a pretty mediocre series?

No. Episode 4 is incredible, Episode 5 is one of the best movies of all time, Episode 6 is the worst of the original trilogy but still good. And because of the prequels, we got Mr Plinkett. Episode 7 is arguably better than 6, and it's "basically" Episode 4 all over again.

On turn 1, I buy a Silver. My opponent buys a Noble Brigand, and hits my Silver.

Opponent: wow
just wow
well, ill let you have the free win since ur such a sore loser

He quit. I was ahead by 2 Provinces. A bit weird.

Huh? I don't get it; was he doing something that didn't work because he'd stolen your Silver?

He just got really butthurt about me commenting that he hit my turn 1 Silver, I don't know why.
