Princess Kaguya was robbed!
This is true.
I can't say I'm surprised though. I mean, check this out: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/package/brutally-honest-oscar-voter-ballot

I agree with "The Lego Movie"....but then, I think "Princess Kaguya" should win Best Animated Feature even with Lego in the running.
Probably it will end up going to Big Hero 6

You could just do it at Wandering Winder's place, cuz, you know, he's everyone.

(I guess he'd probably know it's coming though, for the same reason)

You've got to buy some cards, love
You've got to buy some cards, for me
And trashing is just fine, cuz
I have possessed your hand

(From Death Cab for Cutie's "I have possessed your heart")

From "Modern Major General" by Gilbert and Sullivan

Let's see the board today, oh my
It's looking like a awesome game
There's young witch as the curser
And we've got some squires as the bane

An engine looks quite winning
With some upgrades and some monuments
And King's Court seals the deal
And only adds to my excitement.

But look here, we have pools galore
To scry and scry and draw a bit
My deck is gonna soar
(Although each turn will take a hundred clicks.)

We open Upgrade/Squire
And trash into a nice scrying pool
Opponent goes big money
Quite unknowing that he will get screwed

I thin some more and trash estates
So that my deck's in tip-top shape
I dish out lots of curses
There's no way now that he can escape
(He thins some more, trashing estates
So that his deck's in tip-top shape
He dishes out the curses
There's no way that that dude can escape)

Opponent's got three provinces
But I still have the upper hand
I'm playing 20 actions each turn
All part of my expert plan

My monuments are churning
Dishing out piles of victr'y chips
(Opponent's AFK, he said
"I'll be back in five minutes")

No problem for me of course
For I have some tactics choices now
Do I play this pool first, then upgrade
Or the other way around?

In any case I'm winning
(well worth all the time I've wasted now)
The only thing left to do is
To find a way to pile out

So here we go, a well-won game
I'm gonna end it, so hurray!
Let's buy out all the estates
and I'll--
*goko crashes*

Just watched Spirited Away for the first time over the weekend....I didn't know you could DO that with a movie.

Yea, it blew my mind to when I realized that I was supposed to do something with movies besides look at the box.
Hmmm….look at the box. Interesting idea. We had just been tossing the disc back and forth, Frisbee-style, up until that point.

Dominion General Discussion / Re: Tom Vasel's Top 10 (Favourite) Cards
« on: January 28, 2015, 09:21:36 pm »

This was exactly my experience. Anyways, a list:

11. Shanty Town
10. Haven
9. Cache
8. Wishing Well
7. Fortress
6. Hermit
5. Oracle
4. Tactician
3. Menagerie
2. Native Village
1. Young Witch

Young Witch is cool because it is the coolest card and it has the best art.
I hope adding an eleventh $3 card to your list because of young witch was intentional.

Dominion General Discussion / Re: Dominion Data Mining: Card Rankings
« on: January 05, 2015, 07:38:57 pm »
So, does ordering a list based strictly on how often each card is gained really provide the most accurate definition of "best cards"?

No, but I don't think Forager is a good example of that. You're looking for some "doesn't hurt" cantrip, a la Great Hall or Pearl Diver.
Agreed, it just jumped out to me as a prime, abnormally high example--certainly I don't think it's better than Goons or Masquerade.

So, does ordering a list based strictly on how often each card is gained really provide the most accurate definition of "best cards"? My thought is that some very high ranked cards on this list (a.k.a forager) are not actually that powerful, it's just that they almost never hurt (especially when they are often simply competing with silver).
EDIT: not that this list claimed to be the definitive best cards, but it provides some interesting context when comparing w/ the Qvist list.

+1 for the scariest font of all time. Two holiday-themed words never seemed so threatening before….

baker > peddler

No, not with black market, as the coin token from baker can't be spent in Black Market, but $1 from Peddler can.

So does Highway>Peddler hold up?
Throne room/king's court/procession

Variants and Fan Cards / Re: Zero Dollar Card?

Donald has expressed before, and I agree, that Chapel's price is far best at two. Pricing in Dominion, as many have pointed out, is not solely based on card strength, but also on just what works well in making it a fun card.

I changed the nerf. Honestly though, I don't think it would be broken. Chapel certainly isn't...

$0 Action
+1 card
+1 action
You may trash a card from your hand
---------
When you gain this, gain two coppers and a curse.

This seems at first like it could be WAY overpowered--use this until you want to trash it with something else. However, I think it could work--it certainly wouldn't break the game, a zero dollar price point isn't much more ridiculous than $2, and it will ever really benefit you to have gobs of these. It's kind of the same concept as chapel, in a way.
Thoughts?

This has nothing to do with any movie, cartoon, or show whatsoever, but it is a thematic kingdom.
Happy fourth of July!!

King's Court (King George)
Militia (Obvious)
Council Room (Continental Congress)
Tactician (George Washington)
Royal Seal (Stamp acts)
Ambassador (Benjamin Franklin)
Bandit Camp (Valley Forge)
Coppersmith (Paul Revere--actually a silversmith, but whatever)
Festival (Independence Day!!!)
Band of Misfits (The Continental Army)

I'm rather surprised that people are hating on Cache of all things. I mean, yes, it's pretty weak the vast majority of the time, but there are FAR more pointless cards. (Pearl Diver, anyone?)

The thing about the pin is, well, you can always just resign as soon as it's set up.....

The self-restriction seems like a good nerf. Also, I just realised, making this a duration allows it to miss the reshuffle more often, so that could count as a suitable weakness.

This seems basically like a super-armory, and as such is probably too strong for four. 5 might be a bit steep though….

Dominion General Discussion / Re: Interesting Kingdoms with Prince?

Chapel, Village, Masquerade, Bridge, Remake, Saboteur, Goons, Possession, King's Court, Prince

I originally posted this in the "Fun Kingdom's" thread facetiously, fully expecting that it would be the least fun game of Dominion of all time. But looking at it now, I'm interested in it, since the pin can be blocked. There's also stuff with KC KC B B B, but KC saboteur and goons action could stop that. And then there's possession.
Thoughts?

Prince of Villages is a serious power on this board
I was also thinking prince of goons, with bridge.
