Meanwhile, I'll be the most clueless person co-modding. Welcome ! You should be fine, ++ setups aren't too complicated.

First question, what does ++ setup mean?

I post in here (and delete the posts when finished, otherwise the thread would just get silly).  The thing is, I can't schedule streams far in advance because I don't always know when I'll be able to.

I understand, I meant more like a day in advance or something if possible but it's not a big deal. Life happens, I understand that. I love your videos by the way!

Would it be possible to have a thread where you guys post with some advance notice when you plan on streaming? Or has this become that thread?

Adventure Time is simple enough to be newbie friendly.  There's at least one other newbie playing it.

I know for some people, looking at it at first glance, it doesn't seem to be newbie friendly.  In the end, it's a fairly simple setup for a player, but it's hard for a newbie to realize that.

Also, any time I played a ++ game until the last one I played, I had no idea what anyone was talking about when they were talking about the setup.

That's a fair point.  The other newbie who signed up asked questions by PM.

Once the setup is set up, it's a fairly straightforward game.

I guess the best way to learn is to just take of my clothes and get to it.... I mean.... play mafia.

On a related note, anyone watching the new show Fleming?  (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2647420/?ref_=nv_sr_1)  It looks kind of interesting but I only caught a few minutes of one of the episodes.

I just watched the trailer. It looks to be nothing like what Fleming's life actually was but whatever. It's TV!

I think some of the basic facts were true.  Like he was an intelligence officer during WWII (from Wikipedia):

Quote
While working for Britain's Naval Intelligence Division during the Second World War, Fleming was involved in planning Operation Goldeneye and in the planning and oversight of two intelligence units, 30 Assault Unit and T-Force. His wartime service and his career as a journalist provided much of the background, detail and depth of the James Bond novels.

But of course the show is dramatized for entertainment.  Though while scanning through the message boards some say the character portrayed as Fleming in the show is some kind of representative of the inspirations for the Bond character.

So, basically, fiction inspired by his life.

Yes that's absolutely true, but as far as I know he was never in the "field" himself, but it would make pretty boring TV just to see a dude pushing papers all day.

Your Ghost Ship should have been a Haggler. You don't want a Ghost Ship at all if your opponent is going for Heralds, especially not if he also has a bunch of Wishing Wells. On T3 I think I'd get a 2nd Masq over the Wishing Well, since trashing down fast is really important in Herald decks.

Thanks! Yeah heralds vs ghost ship is something else I learned from this game.

Pretty cool game, close down to the very last turn and... oh I wont ruin it for you. See for yourself how lucky I got.

I underestimated Altar in this one and picked one up too late when I should've gotten a couple a lot sooner. I also picked up haggler too late I think. I knew heralds would be very important so I grabbed as many as I could and tried to focus on building the engine, picking up wishing wells instead of silver. The gold on turn 11 should definitely have been an altar. I didn't see apprentice or jack working here although I never really know when to pick up jack so I could be wrong. Let me know what you think.

This game was a lot better for me. Even though four (I think?) of my heralds got trashed, trashing with my junk dealer every turn thinned my deck enough for the remaining heralds to catch pearl divers or goons very consistently for extra actions or an attack without using an action. Trashing catacombs isn't too bad because I can just gain a pearl diver or herald if they're still available. I don't even think catacombs is that important here, and knights might not be either although my opponent here didn't take full advantage of the engine so I don't know for sure.

Hey guys I know nobody is going to create a game just for me but I'm interested in trying mafia out. I've never played and I feel like I'd be completely lost joining one of the more complicated games. Any other new players out there that want to try it out?

Me and a couple of friends did a Bond marathon when Casino Royale was released on DVD. We graded all the movies by different categories and then calculated a total score through a formula that I don't remember. We graded, Intro song, Bond girls, Q-gadgets, chest hair, explosions and over all enjoyment. In the end I remember me agreeing a lot with the list. I don't have the list here, but I remember some of the moves' placements.

1. You Only Live Twice
2. Goldfinger
3. The Spy Who Loved Me
4. The Man With the Golden Gun
5. Die Another Day (This would've been higher if the guy who calculated everything din't take his bias into account when he wrote down the scores. ;))
A Bunch of Bond Movies
20. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
21. Tomorrow Never Dies

I really have to make my own list someday. Me and my girlfriend watched the first movies, but we took a break after Moonraker. Haven't gotten around to continue watching.

I like You Only Live Twice at 1 but Die Another Day at 5!? That's just silly.

So I probably shouldnt've ended the game when I did as I was a lot closer than I thought I was. At that time I was just thinking "I suck at goons, I know it, and I just want to get this over with so I can post it on the forum and learn a little bit". I played something like this earlier and got destroyed. I tried to recreate this board from memory because I don't think the log is up yet but anyway, I think the only major difference was the original board had salvager instead of trade route, and a couple other cards may be off but that's not that important.

Anyway, I knew from the previous game that herald and goons is big, but knights trashing heralds can devastate that. In this game my junk dealer got trashed early and I forgot to pick up another one until it was too late. But how important is trashing here? Is trashing worth it and if so would you go junk dealer or trade route/salvager? I thought junk dealer just because I wanted the least amount of terminals that I could get. I don't think goons and herald can be ignored but should knights be ignored? How does catacombs fit in? And in this specific game where did I go wrong? Thanks.

EDIT: I'm thinking silver/silver would've been a better opening.

No, Gen 3 was obviously the peak!

However, what does this have to do with racism?

Yeah there's nothing racist here. This Darrel dude is still an asshole though.

My favorite song is Live and Let Die by the Wings followed closely by View to a Kill by Duran Duran.

I think Skyfall is also a pretty good song though.

Yeah Live and Let Die is classic and A View To a Kill is pretty catchy, although Im not a huge '80s fan.

Has anyone read any or all of the books? I'm slowly working my way through them.

Wishing I still lived in D.C.

I had no idea you used to live in DC!

To be fair, I'm only in DC for about 2 more days.

It was a while ago back when I was a journalist like Robz and Galz and joth. I lived near Van Ness Station.

Did you ever hang out at the Zoo Bar?

Nope. I spent way too much time (and money) at Kramerbooks & Afterwords. That was my main hang out spot. Good books+great music+amazing food was hard to pass up.

I never really hang out in Dupont so I don't know the spots over there. I'll check out Kramerbooks!

Thanks for all the feedback! I've been playing this board over and over again and I'm still a little confused as to how exactly to play this. Apothecary, stables, lookout into salvager, a couple squires, treasure maps, maybe one shanty town is how I've been approaching it, with mixed results. Here's the latest one I played, although I know I had a couple misplays.

This one is embarrassing, I had no idea what I was doing. My opponent seemed a little lost too until she picked up the treasure maps. I guess sometimes you gotta suck it up and go big money. Maybe the title of the thread should be "Real men play big money". What do you guys think? Any chance for shanty town/stables/squire or something like that?
