Variants and Fan Cards / Gaining Village - On play Port
« on: November 24, 2015, 10:25:10 am »
Gaining Village $4
Action
+1 Card
+2 Actions

Set aside a Gaining Village from the Supply. During cleanup this turn, discard it.

The bottom part really just means "gain a Gaining Village", but is so worded so that you cannot piledrive Gaining Villages with Watchtower/Extreme Trashing.

So it's similar to Port, difference being how you get the village. In general Gaining Village has the potential to get more other GVs, but Port gets you one earlier, ensuring you will get the free Village before it runs out. Hence I think they should be the same cost.

What do you think, especially about how it compares with Port?

Dominion General Discussion / Weak +buy in engines
« on: November 23, 2015, 04:49:25 am »
Let's say there is a lot of engine potential, with a ton of Villages and Smithies and strong payload like Ghost Ship. There is no strong trashing, but there is heave sifting (Warehouse or Cellar). However, the only +buy card on the board is something weak like Herbalist or Woodcutter. Is it normally better to open with the +buy card and then build, or try to build first then get the +buy card. How would this change if Workshop (or equivalent) is on the board? (engine component gaining is not slowed, but Province gaining is)

Lightout Action-Duration-Attack $6

Now and at the start of your next turn, you may gain a Scout.

While this is in play, all other players cannot see their cards.

(The top part is there just so that it remains there for two turns)

Variants and Fan Cards / Inverse Swamp Hag
« on: November 19, 2015, 05:58:48 am »
Inverse Swamp Hag $5
Action-Attack-Duration
While this is in play, every other player gains a Curse for every unused buy they have in their cleanup phase.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Now and at the start of your next turn,
+1 buy
+$1

This has the effect of virtually forcing every buy on a player (until the Curses run out). Name and wording can be better. Also has +1 buy to (anti)synergize with the attack.

Is this too powerful? Possibly broken? Should I replace Curse with Copper?

This seems a bit to Secret Chamber to me. The only difference is that this gives +1 action, and can't be drawn dead. Looks like this will be better than SC only in terminal draw games without +action. So this would be useful in only Big Money, with the exception that you can have more Smithies in your deck. Still seems a little boring to me, but that's just my opinion.

BTW, will you be adding this to Dominion: Enterprise?

Dominion Articles / Request: Hermit/Market Square mirror
« on: June 24, 2014, 10:00:34 am »
Just what do you do in a Hermit/MS mirror? In normal circumstances, each person gets 1 Hermit, 4 Madmen and 5 Market Squares. That's not enough to piledrive Estates and if you do, the other player can grab the remaining Estates plus some Duchies for the win. Of course, the Hermits and MSes are not going to always split evenly, so sometimes you get 6 Hermits and 4 Market Squares, or vice versa.

So what do you do in each case? In a Hermit/MS mirror, I am always clueless as of how to end the game.

Last night, I was teaching Dominion to a few new people, and managed to lose both 4p games. I'm not sure why, but I really don't mind losing to new players.
Yeah, I once lost a 2p game to someone playing Dominion for his 3rd time.

Goko Dominion Online / Logs not saved... PLEASE HELP
« on: June 20, 2014, 10:16:48 am »
Hi, my logs are not being saved. This happened sometime ago, when I posted in Goko Dominion Salvager Discussion to write about this. But since it has been quite a long time already, I decided to stop posting there and start a new thread instead.

So anyway, PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!! When I first moved to Goko (from Iso), I was disappointed that I couldn't save the game logs. Then, GS came up, and I was excited, that now the logs would not be lost in history forever. But now, its happening again! WHAT'S HAPPENING? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!

To prove that the logs are gone, I first try to search for it (and fail to). Then, I look at the leaderboard and see that the last recorded game was less than 1 min ago (not 3 hours or something).

Also, I found out that the prediction of logs lost at a certain hour was not true.

Some of the games I've played recently were not recorded down at all. I know this because I see under last recorded game was less than what I last played.
Is it anything to do with this thread? Or is it just some connection problems?
I'm still having this problem. Update: I notice that the lost game logs were played around 5-7am GMT. Also, they seemed to count for the leaderboard, only the logs have been lost.

What happens if you have 3 Princed Conspirators? Is any of them activated?

Looks like I'm not the only one. This confirms it.
BTW, is it true that if you press 'Multiplayer' without logging in nothing will happen right?

Rebuild on the board, I open 4/3 against a 5/2. So, probably gonna lose. I open Marauder/Silver instead of double Silver, hoping to slow down his Rebuilding. This turned out to be a bad idea, as it hurt my economy (I could have bought a Rebuild on T3 otherwise).
But his Duchess (his $2) allowed me to discard an Estate, and get a lucky T4 hand of 5 Copper, giving me a chance for a comeback.

I won in the end. Somehow I won the duchy split, and also managed to spike a Province buy.

Megaturn decks, like Hermit/Market Square, Native Village/Bridge, HoP etc. ends the game before it has a chance to choke. Also the Golden Decks (Bishop/Fortress, HoP/Mandarin) never choke as it deals with the green. Also Goons.

Edit: Typo

Trash this. Trash a card from your hand. Reveal your hand and trash all copies of it. +1 card per card trashed.

If you don't get the joke, click here.

Game Reports / Re: Non-obvious strategy wins!
« on: May 18, 2014, 10:05:15 am »
Hermit/Bridge?  I pulled that off once.  It wasn't as good as I thought it would be, but was still okay.
That was faster than I thought. But yes! After the game though, I thought that it wasn't a good idea as Hermit couldn't trash Mountebank's Coppers. But there was another factor: I could use Talisman for extra Bridges, which helps my strategy a lot.
I got worried in the end as I couldn't line up my Madmen, but still won anyway.

Anyway, log!

Hermit/Bridge is okay, but without a village to allow you to Hermit-gain more Bridges, it's pretty rough. Your megaturn on turn 20 picked up 37 VPs: I can get that many just playing Embassy/BM in only 18 turns, and end the game on turn 20 with all eight Provinces. Remake/Mountebank should lose to Hermit/Bridge, but if my opponent opens Hermit/Talisman, I can see he doesn't care about Curses, and I'll go Embassy to snarf down the Provinces as fast as possible.

This is way slower than what Hermit-Bridge is capable of, even when up against MounteBank.  For sure you could have fired off on T17, and probably a whole lot sooner if you'd skipped the Talisman and Silver and gained Madmen a little earlier.  5 Madmen and 6 Bridges is the absolute max you need to secure the win.
The Talisman wasn't necessary?! I thought I needed to get more Bridges.
And 6 Bridges only give you 7 Provinces... (You get free copper from Mountebank so at least $14 in deck).
