General Discussion / Re: Random Stuff Part III

let's talk about the portal series.

Is anyone else as obsessed with it as I am?

Yes, yes and YES. I'm playing it for 4-5 years and still playing. I love it. My friend once said: "Why can all the games not be Portal variations?" and that's true. Really true. Also, check out Talos Principle.

Portal is the best.

I posted about Talos principle recently. I'm very impressed. Portal is the only comparison, but it's very different.

I just bought The Talos Principle on Steam. On sale till monday, but even after only playing a bit over an hour, this game is amazing. If you can spare $10, it's worth it. A puzzle game with great atmospheric and philosophical elements. Highly recommend, especially for people on this forum.

Holy cow, the game looks great. I want to get this. I don't play on my computer though. Is it on the PS4?

A quick google says it is, but it's probably full price, which was around 45$. It was on sale which is why I bought it. I don't know if it's worth 45$, but I mean, I think it won't be a disappointment no matter the price. I was immersed from the first minute I was playing.

Funny enough, this game does a better job at horror than most horror games, even though that is not the intention. The unknown of the world, and learning what is around you is more scary than a weird monster to me.

Recently watched Dead Pool. Went in with very low expectations since I never heard anything good about it. I thought it was great, I laughed the whole way through.

It was ok. I found Zootopia much more funny, and I saw them almost back to back.

I watched Snowpiercer the other day. I liked it quite a lot (except for a few scientific inaccuracies). The less you know about the movie, the better, in my opinion. But it has a lot of good surprises and some good directing too.

I tried The new giant in a spell/Yogg mage deck and they seemed quite good. No idea if they are competitive, but you can easy make them cost less than 4, and then have a large tempo turn. Having tempo huge minions in a spell heavy deck is actually very useful.

I'm curious if the Arcane Giants have a spot in my Token Druid. I'm also trying Arcane Anomaly in that deck. Arcane Anomaly does the job of baiting 2 mana removal at least.

That one also has potential. Not sure its better than current 1drops though. But if in the next sets they stop printing crazy 1 drops, it'll be really good

I just rewatched Star Wars. It was amazing, as always.

Which one? The most recent one? Because that was trash.

So.  Purify.  Thoughts?

It makes me think that the devs really don't know what they're doing. Or they're making priest te gimmick class, but then they should admit it. Like instead of lying about "there's a deck with priest no one knows about", just say "this is a gimmick class"

2 disconnects is not just "oops 2 losses." even 1 disconnect loss could lose you a 12win run. So I think the average score is still meaningful. A good score I think is like mid-high 60's. So a less than 70deck is still very 12 win worthy.

It is the same Medivh, but before he went crazy. So this would be before Kharazhan was an evil place, and here its just a fun festive place where we party with the not yet crazy Medivh.

Could be interesting. But I've been playing very little hearthstone recently. I'll play the adventure for sure though.

EDIT: I actually want to know why Blizz keeps making mechs. The "mech decks" Were in GvG, and now the mech synergy is so low that there seems to be no reason to keep making mechs. Just let them die off with GvG.

72.9 is godlike. That's statistically a 12win deck.

EDIT: But I think it's adding a lot for the legends you got. You win the late game. Just gotta survive tempo plays. Weapons will do a lot, but you still need to curve out.

Of course it's meant to be metaphorical, but after the second viewing it just seemed a little thin. I did like the movie, but it's just far from perfect.

I saw the neon demon is theatres twice. I liked it both times, although some of it felt a little self indulgent. There's no denying that Refn makes beautiful movies, but the plot was a little, silly? It's not better than Drive, that's for sure. But it's on the same level as Only God Forgives.

Two 2-drops tho? I'm gonna guess 10-3

Went 7, probably partly because Im pretty rusty as HS and also I think there was at least one loss from BS. On another note, my Mage run with secrets, in the three first game, had a secret stolen by Kezan Mystic. Like what....

Two games in and I'm frustrated. It's not even like Yogg Soron that is crazy in one turn. This is just random annoyingness.

This deck just happened. Most amazing tempo deck I've ever drafted. Not pictured, Thing from Below.

That Amgam rager though. Otherwise, this deck is not fair. 12-0.

Overwatch would definitely be way less of a reprieve from exhausting fighting game.

Some of the games are super casual, but when I play against a good team it's really draining. Lots of quick decisions. I've never played many fighting games, but I've seen people who are good play and it seems to be the same deal.

I think playing to make big Yogg Saurons is actually more fun than playing to Hearthstone's wincon.  It's making me like Hearthstone a lot more now.  Hearthstone is also fitting into my life better now that I'm playing an exhausting fighting game since it's the ideal level of brainlessness.

I've mainly been playing overwatch, which I personally think is considerably more engaging than Hearthstone. I'm finish about 1 arena run every 3-4 days now, maybe longer.

You should be able to win with 2 games. That deck has a great curve, and with that kind of deck Frost elemental is basically Battlecry: Sap a minion.

I saw The Lobster this weekend.  I'm still digesting it.  My initial reaction is that it's pretty brilliant, though.  Evem without the questions that it leaves you with, it's just entertaining to watch (if you like that kind of quirky humor, I guess).  I guess I mean, it's entertaining to watch even if you don't understand it.

I saw it with a few people who walked out on it, and me and one other person who liked it. I think it's a great movie too, although I did think it was a little too long. But it's really funny, and one of the most awkward movies I've ever seen (awkward in a good way though).

I'm insecure.
I know the feeling.  I was 4'8" until the age of 16.  Which made me ludicrously short by comparison to my peers.  (I was at a boys' school.)  I then grew a foot in a year, so I'm average height now.  But the Short Man Syndrome sticks with me.  :-[

I was sort of joking (although I am short) :P

Aren't you and I about the same size?

Oh, possibly. I'm not super short, but Im not very tall either

I was hoping the Montreal meetup picture could shed light on this, but alas we were aligned along the incline of the road.

Oh yeah, that's true :P oh well, I guess we'll never know.
