Apart the dirt slimy feeling inside when you bought it? Hehe

You had all those moats and still picked up 4 curses, 1 more than your opponent did! (and even with all the moats bought still 70% of the curses got drawn out)
So the defensive part was poor, and so you were basically paying $2 for +2 card terminal action....rubbish.

Hmm, when did I ever pay $2 for Moat? And +2 cards, while weak, is fine with me if I have a huge pile of +actions, say, from fishing village. But I guess if you feel great just buying power cards without considering the board, good for you.

Um, you can get $50 by KC->KC.....Tribute(x10) and hitting actions.
That's like $119 easily.

1. 50 hamlets:
a). Any isotropic board; your opponent dies of boredom.
b). Live; ~50 pawns.
Much wore than 50 pawns. These provide no buying power.

Yeah, but there may be some situations with attacks on board that you might be able to use the +actions.

How about a one-shot VP point gainer? Kind of swingy, but would make the mid-late game interesting.

It would probably be $5-7 and give 3-5 VP.

Mmm, dissapointed I am in your lack of Moat Hate!

Moat's not that good, but sometimes you're glad to have it (I'm blue):

Turn 5 unassisted treasure maps going off is the worst. You see them open it and simultaneously scoff and know that it's going to happen, and then you've lost.
Jester hitting your first Gold is also pretty annoying.

Lab+Silver>Stash+Wishing Well :P
It's hard to predict where you will want the Stash to be in several turns in all but the most academic cases, so I don't really see it happening, and the payoff is not that great.

I was actually blue, as could possibly be inferred from my post (not too clear, sorry). Anyways, the problem with the board was that it was just so weak. The one thing I feel weird about was using apprentice to trash other $5s to try to get a KC-saboteur off. A $5 represents two saboteur hits, but I think it probably is the correct move because of the importance of hitting the opponent's KC.

61
Apprentice is good but takes up a kingdom slot; cellar/counting house is terminal and dumps a bunch of copper into your discard (unless you want to play two counting houses). Black Market Native Village, however, is the correct drawer.

62
with regards to Tunnel/Treasure interactions, why not just use Watchtower to trash the silvers? Also, HoP can get you a few Silvers if you have Kingdom cards to spare.

Egyptian War or Land Grab
$6-Victory
At the end of the game, grab as many VP cards from the supply as you can.
1 VP per card grabbed.

Though it's not the answer, what's your reasoning behind Sea Hag?

Bag of Gold is an honorable mention, by coincidence.

edit: ah, i see, three letter words.

60 turns of possession should mess them up pretty badly.
I suppose if they had an unbounded amount of treasures, and shuffle luck was completely stacked against you, yeah, you wouldn't be able to pin them.
Note that perfectly bad shuffle luck still doesn't nullify the fact that you can choose whether or not to play possession based on what they top-decked or what duration cards they played. So I'm not really seeing it.

A much more simple "unpinnable" opponent is one that has all of the KCs and masquerades, such that you don't have the cards to pin them.

I think it's possible. Masquerade an ambassador and/or masquerade to them, possess them (multiple times, preferably), mess up their deck, then junk their next hand (outpost and/or cellar). Then start the pin.

Trashing down to just 2 Silvers in the supply. I think my opponent's Saboteur opening was incorrect, though the game was very luck-based, to say the least.

So what's your guy's favorite card here? Mine would be Explorer. Apprentice/Explorer is pretty neat, for one. And it's like the Tournament before Tournament existed.

I voted Adventurer. Yeah, the other cards are bad, but to me, Adventurer does not even exist. It's like, sometimes I wonder, hey, why are there only 9 kingdom piles, I should go submit a bug report.
At least Transmute is some fun in the Puzzle section. And there's probably been a couple games where somebody destroyed the match with Scrying Pool, Transmute and Duke.

I like yours, ehunt.

An asymmetric one would be KC Torturer Duchess Estate Estate and the other player has GGSEE and there's one curse left from a 3-pile. Chances are p1 would not want to risk buying coppers, but of course an embargo would keep them away.

Variants and Fan Cards / Re: My First Fan Card: Tax Collector
« on: February 04, 2012, 11:39:55 pm »
Going off of HiveMind's idea, maybe you have to set aside the card you want to tax from your hand (or maybe from your discard).
In this case, it should be $4 i think, and also only trigger on another player.

A fun one might be some sort of duration card where you put tokens on it when people buy stuff, and get that much money the next turn, though that runs into the kingmaking problem.

Finally, a puzzle that doesn't involve a bunch of counting! Hopefully it hasn't come up before.

What kinds of situations can you think of that involve both players endlessly playing the same moves over and over again?
Don't worry about the likelihood of them actually getting there.

For example: KCx2, Monumentx3: Both players are getting 9 VP a turn. Unless some other power cards are around, nobody wants to break it.

Or, all the coppers are trashed, and nobody has treasure or gainers.

Or, Highway, KC,Smugglers, and Colonies, plenty of draw, and no + buy.

There are surely many more subtle ones.

First Turn Advantage
$1 Treasure-Victory
$1
1 VP
When you buy this, the game ends.
