While Bale is pretty important, I don't think they "revolve" around him -- there's many times that he takes shots far away from the box in good attacking positions that could lead to goals for other players if the build-up were to develop more.

I think part of the reason he's been doing so well, too, is because Adebayor's been playing lately. His finishing hasn't been great this year (ok, it's been terrible), but he's superb at creating pockets of spaces for other and dragging the defenders with him to make room for Lennon but especially Bale to run in. Without his movement, Bale + Lennon wouldn't have been able to make their runs vs. Arsenal, while Defoe would have probably try to get himself into a position to receive a pass and not make the room for others. He also doesn't take quite so many shots, so there's a lot left to take for Bale, and he's been superb from distance and making shots very few other players in the world would make.

That said, though, I'm glad we have him, and we've definitely won some games because of him.

Right you are, of course! Now I've got myself trying to figure out exactly what the distribution of those dice rolls would be...

Galzria, I don't think your method're MUCH more likely to end up with a number between 400-600 rolling 20 dice at once.

I'd play this

Match 49
7 Wonders

7 Wonders is probably my favorite game right now. Itís so much fun, so quick, and easy to play. It gets major points from me for being easier to get to the table than anything else.

Mafia is fun, although Iíve only played it online, and not FtF. Copying what Tables said above, the reward-to-effort ratio is not great. I often walk away from a game promising to never do it again, even if it was fun, just due to the large time commitment.

7 Wonders gets the vote here.

Match 50
Puerto Rico
Through the Ages: A Story of Civilization

Puerto Rico is really fun, and although Iíve only gotten to play it ~5 times, Iíve really enjoyed playing it, especially as everyone Iíve played with has gotten better with each play. It just seems like every game, weíre learning constantly, getting better, and to me itís a really intriguing game.

I actually played my first game of TtA this afternoon Ė it was only the short version, but I still enjoyed it, and I can see that it has a lot of depth and strategy to it. Right now, itís still behind PR, but I could see it passing it very soon.

Match 51
Stone Age
Dungeon Lords

Haven't played either.
Match 52
Race for the Galaxy

Never played RftG, but heard great things. However, Hearts is one of my favorite games, and I grew up playing it and lost count of how many games Iíve played. Definitely hearts here, and I really hope it pulls through.

Match 53
Galaxy Trucker
Kingdom Builder

Have not played either game.
Match 54
The Settlers of Catan

Alhambra looks very cool, I have not played it but Iíve wanted to try. However, Catan is one of the games that got me interested in buying other games, and I still play it semi-frequently with my non-gaming friends, so it gets the vote here.

Match 55
Power Grid

Havenít played Power Grid. Pandemic is awesome, though!

Match 56
Terra Mystica

Have not played Terra Mystica, but Agricolaís really fun, and I have been looking forward to playing it again since the last time I played it.

7 Wonders
Puerto Rico
Settlers of Catan

i follow liverpool but my crush on clint dempsey leads me to be sympathetic to spurs.
As an american and spurs fan I of course love Dempsey...but I don't think we should be starting him as much as we have been :(

Join some forum games here!  I know there are a bunch of Through the Ages players, plus we have a 7 Wonders game going.  Other things too!
I've been poking around, and I'm very interested in this! I may join the next game of 7 wonders, and I'm also very interested in doing a game of Resistance or Mafia at some point. As for Through the Ages, I think I'd want to try it out in person first, rather than having to learn on the fly in a forum game.

I also play diplomacy on another site (, but I may join a game of that here, as well.

Thanks for the heads up!

(unfortunately, finding time and people to play with is difficult...)

You'll never find time just laying around. You have to make it yourself.

Very true! But unfortunately, I can only make time for myself, and not for others. Convincing my roommates to spend 30 minutes on 7 wonders or dominion is one thing, which is why those games get played pretty frequently in my apartment. On the other hand, Through the Ages is a much harder sell...there are very few times where all of us can set aside 4 hours to play a board game, let alone for anything else.

Hi everyone,
My name is Ben, and I'm a college student in the United States. I've been on here lurking for awhile, but figured I'd make a post to say hello!

I've been playing dominion for awhile -- I got the base game about 2 years ago, and played it for awhile, but my addiction to the game started when I found dominionstrategy and isotropic about a year ago. I've been lurking the forums for awhile now, but figured it was time to finally post and say hi.

For board games I own Dominion, Seaside, Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride, and 7 wonders, but have been interested in getting into some more intensive gaming lately (unfortunately, finding time and people to play with is difficult...) Just bought Through the Ages but haven't had time to try it out yet.

Apart from board games, I'm a huge follower of the English Premier League, and I have the same interests as any normal American college student :P
