- If Plan and Peasant are both out, the trash token from Plan can prohibit Teacher from putting a +1 token on a critical pile. Mentally note to yourself that you need to move it some time around Disciple time (and in any event no later than when you get the Teacher on the mat).

Noticed that last night... Overbought Planned Gear (note to self: 1 is good, 2 are good. 5 are too many), and then suddenly realized I couldn't +action it... And it was too late in the game to start rePlanning.

Shanty Town is called "Poor Quarter" in the Norwegian set. Nice fit thematically with City Quarter; both draw cards depending on what is in your hand.

We use
Prov $3 5+ cost cards
Dutchy $2 4 cost cards
Estate $1 3- cost cards

Events, spoils, curses, ruins, traveller upgrades, madmen, etc, fill up any of the three lines that end up shorter than the others. (Trash goes in a lump on the far left.) Plat/Colony possibly makes a fourth line up top, and any 6+ costs are placed there. (We don't own alchemy either.)

Rules Questions / Procession + Reserves
« on: August 01, 2015, 07:37:30 am »
I couldn't find anything about it in Dark Ages or Adventures rules.

Processing a Reserve card (in our case Ratcatcher), does the Reserve get trashed? It has been moved to the Tavern mat on the first play, so would the Procession find it?

We ended up ruling that it didn't, but that you got the double +action and double +card (and the $3 cost new card since there is no "if you do" wording on Procession).

Adventures/Dark Ages game last night, constructed by my darling son (for once without dozens of attack cards).

Bandit Camp, Hireling, Junk Dealer, Cultist, Giant, Ranger, Duplicate, Fortress, Hermit, Peasant. Ferry, Inheritance.

He opened Ferry/Hireling, I opened Ferry/Junk Dealer.

After a few JD I ferried bandit camps instead and kept my silver-cost, 'gold'-gaining villages for the rest of the game. He inherited fortresses (and Taught them +card), I inherited Rangers (and Taught them +action). I never bought any cultists (he did, and spammed them with disciple, and when the ruins ran out he went on to disciple giants..), but my JDs (with a Taught +card for good measure) took care of the junk quite handily.

His mistake; not buying more of his cheap hirelings, and occasionally even buying fortresses at full cost rather than just picking up estates, and far too late Teaching his cultists how to spend money wisely (+buy).

Result; on my second to last turn I had $38, raking in quadruple! provinces (+a duchy for good measure). Most of that money was from Spoils.

His last turn he had $17 (and 2 provinces in his deck), but he'd bought too few other greens, so took 3 duchies and an estate instead.

Too bad, on my last turn I still managed to regenerate enough Spoils to grab the last 2 provinces.

Inheriting Rangers is awesome! +5 cards and +2 buys for the price of a smithy and a buy? Yes, please :D Yes, you need the +actions from somewhere, but all terminal draw needs that.

For the most part, it stays constant.
And the remainder is fractional.
The remainder is still rational however.

Oh, don't be so negative. Imagination and irrationality go hand in hand, increasing the radius of our minds. Here, have some Pi.

Game Reports / Cwazy Pathfinding game
« on: July 07, 2015, 04:53:29 pm »
3p real life, kingdom: Coin of the Realm, Guide, Haven, Messenger, Thief, Mystic, Wine Merchant, Vault, Hunting Party, Grand Market / Pathfinding

I and another went for Path+Hunting Party, with WM as payload, the last player tried for Path+GM. Without trashers, Vault was the stepping stone there. Opening Messengers threw around Coins, a Haven and a Guide for free.

Coins emptied first, then I won the split on the HPs. At this point I and the third person had 3 provinces each, so I picked up a Vault way late, to grab the last 3 GMs ($12 just from coppers and greens..) and add a duchy for the win.

The second player attempted a Thief, but with all our actions, and the Coins safely on the mat, that didn't help him much. Third player _probably_ should have taken his vault earlier, and said he should have taken a wine merchant too. The coin from GM just wasn't enough.

Anyone with other ideas?

Variants and Fan Cards / Re: Really bad card ideas

Swamp Haggler - Action - Attack - Duration - (5)
+(2)
Until your next turn, when any player buys a card, you gain a non-victory card costing less than it.
At the start of your next turn: +(3)
This sort of attack could actually be really interesting I think.  It would need a bit of balancing (maybe 'costing at least (2) less than it) but I think it could make for a really fun attack.

Technically, this is not an Attack, as it doesn't affect each other players' decks or hands. This also isn't an Attack:

Pnot An Attack, $8, Action
+3 Cards. The player to your left reveals cards from the top of his deck until he reveals 2 cards costing $3 or more, trashes those and puts the rest on top of his deck in the order you choose. You gain all the trashed cards. That player gains a Curse and a Ruins, putting them on top of his deck. If he has 5 or more cards in hand, he reveals his hand and you choose a card from it. He discards it, then discards down to 3 cards in his hand. You may play another Not An Attack from your hand.

Fixed in accordance with your signature.

Dominion General Discussion / Re: How do you feel about Champion?
« on: June 14, 2015, 06:25:34 pm »
I don't know if it's the infinite actions or the infinite moat - or the combination - but I feel that Champion is like Tournament or Rebuild or Possession. You can't NOT go for it, and the first person to get there has a significant advantage (unless they do something stupid like forget to track their card variance for Fairgrounds (and I'd never do that)). Today I trashed my opponents warrior with my own - in a Colony/Platinum game where getting that Hero was as much a boost as the Champion, and present a shuffle earlier.

(It might be mentioned that my husband is pretty unhyped about the whole Adventures new mechanics, with the opinion that more rules and tokens and doodads does not make a game better. Champion just added to the general mood.)

Don't split hares either.  It's mean.

I disagree. I don't think that behavior is average at all.
And there was a time on this planet where it was the mode. Normalized even.

And if a large minority does it, does that make it a standard deviation?

Seprix, according to your own rules, every post has to contain a play on words. Please stick to that, because it's no pun if you don't.
That one was bad enough I reached for the asperin.

So you're saying you SwitchedFromTylenol?
Who knows? He could have been on Ibupunfen.

I really am digging my own Margrave, aren't I?

That was an enfyn terrible joke.

No! No! Enfyn but that!

Where's liopoil to remind us what the best way is to deal with Rats?

Also, why isn't there a plugin that allows me to type Rats, or even [card]Rats[/card], and produce a link to the wiki and a card image on rollover?

Make it so.

Native Village.  Island, haha.

That's pseudo-trashing.

And I'd say it's worse than actually trashing!  Actually trashing Rats isn't that bad even with no benefit.

Yeah, but I already included it.

So we're in agreement?  Ratcatcher isn't so bad?

But it's still one of the worst ways to deal with Rats.

I mean, he only catches them.  If you want to get rid of them, you better call Ratexterminator instead.

Or nananananananana- RATMAN!

The rest of us knew that from the start. War have you been?
