Wait... I don't understand this comparison. Why would you build a road to the same vertex as someone you supposedly have an agreement with?

And especially if all three edges have different players on them, there is no possible agreement. It's just a race to build a settlement. The only person who can benefit from the road at all is the one who settles there.
I just want the longest road dude, I'm not putting a settlement there. Tom is going to put a settlement there, put the robber on his bricks why don't you.

You can lose the longest road, and it's not resource producing anyway. I'd much rather build the settlement - that's a permanent point which helps me build further.

This one will get my vote. You can expand it with Overgrown Estate, Hovel, Necropolis (Hovel's probably best as previously said), and yes, even Curse, which I think would be fantastic. If you're playing in the Dominion League I think you'd have a good enough sense of humor not to mind playing in the Curse division. I know I would...but I may just be projecting.

You can also throw gardens in their at its price point if you need more in the middle.

My vote too. It's intuitive that if you are 'victorious', then you go to a higher 'victory' card.

Sometimes I forget that this game still gets played in real life.

We play several times a week, often 2-3 games in an evening. I usually lose - despite being the article/forum/wiki-reader - but I have fun and happily continue.

The other thing to note is that, whether he's tight-lipped or not, what gets trashed is public information - so he has to show you.

I know, I could have looked. I suspect it was more that he was embarrassed/unhappy about what was trashed...

2-player. Forge, Kings Court, Trading Post, Saboteur, Gardens, Quarry, Throne Room, Watchtower, Loan, Trade Route. Colonies included.

Loads of ways to trash your cards - or multiply them, but not really much actions to use those multiplyers/trashers on.

We ended up building up Trade Route to max (5). My husband occasionally kings courted it, but was rather tight-lipped about what he had to trash (I gather forges and provinces may have been involved..  :-\) to buy the Colonies. I just managed to Throne Room it, but that was ok, because my 5. card in hand was a colony... Game ended on provinces, he won.

And a rules question: When Trading Post gains a silver to your hand, can you use Watchtower to put it on your deck instead? (Instance; it was my only $ that turn, and with no $2 cards, I figured it was better saved for next turn.)

Our first game (2p with my husband) was from the base set, that I'd found on sale just before christmas. Noone to teach us, and so a) we thought gardens were supposed to be in every game (like the other VP cards), and b) I thought we had to empty all the green piles. Gardens ended up at 7vp each (wow, cheap province!), and the game took over two hours. Can't remember who won.

We also thought chapel was only good for curses, and I didn't learn better before reading the Dominion strategy webpage.

the +coins on actions are "monies" (both singular and plural)

"Festival gives me two monies"
"I'm going to play this pawn and choose one card and one monies"

Ah.

I call the coin you accumulate from non-treasure cards in a term 'paper money.'

We say "I have 3 'on the table' " about the money derived from actions.

I have the base and intrigue set in Norwegian, but I can't find any of the other sets translated. Are the English ones equal (for example in backside design and size), so that I can buy them instead?

Sidsel, things appear to have worked out for you here, but in general if you use a King's Court on a Minion and intend to discard your hand, then you ought to do that in your first of three plays.  That way if your new four card hand is a dud, you can discard again.

Same thing go for using King's Court/Throne Room/Procession on Nobles/Trusty Steed/Pawn.  If you intend to draw eventually, then draw first, so that you can make a more informed decision in the subsequent play(s).

Thanks for the tip. Still very much a noob to this - so my thought was to gather as much +$ as possible before worrying about discards. (And it was one of those $2 that netted the last estate - if the points had ended up equal, I would have lost due to turns...) But ok, first draw, then think.  :)
