In practice, these can be as different as Spanish-Portugese-Italian.

Which Spanish? Which Portuguese? Which Italian?

The three that walked into a bar?

Welcome to the English language, where the words are made up and the rules don't matter.

I think the language is not the only thing that works that way in the US.

I was hoping it'd be Jack of All Trades, but looks like it's just barely not. So, Great Hall, then?

Me too, and yes!

Yep, my first idea was the same, regular Village with bonus at $4.
But then i thought, why would I not play this? It draws me a card, which might be an Action. Besides when drawn dead, my suggested version is good to topdeck from hand if you don't need the extra Action, Coin and Buy this turn.
Maybe you don't want to do it by choice because if you don't play it immediately, it slows down the deck a bit.

If it went to your hand instead, it would be more interesting. Although maybe then it's broken, dunno.

Okay, this would be the Tunnel version of it:
Quote
Underground Village (Action - Reaction) $4

+1 Card
+2 Actions
_______________________
When you discard this, you may reveal it and put it into your hand.
Very strong with sifters, but Fortress is even better with trashers.
I miss the draw dead ability though.

I think this one is better:

Quote
Underground Village (Action - Reaction) $4

+1 Card
+2 Actions
_______________________
When you discard this other than from play, you may reveal it and put it on top of your deck.

You may not play it because you already drew your deck. Or, because you think saving it for next turn is more important than playing it now. Using Courtyard or Hamlet to save cards for next turn for consistency is not rare.

What's the only missing card in this set?

Alchemist
Menagerie
Moat
Pawn
Smugglers
Storeroom
Warehouse

Also, that is not exactly a Tunnel trigger, because at the end of turn, if you have it in your hand, you discard it but not from play. I don't mind the change in this case, and the card looks pretty weak. Maybe a regular village with the topdeck-when-discard bonus for $4 is decent, especially because you can save it for next turn if you draw it dead or just don't play it. I think it would be usually stronger than Walled Village, and quite nice for consistency.

Yes you can.

It's better without the black bar.

Well, maybe your will power is enough to argue when facing someone only covered by a couple of black bars and Kuildeous is not. I am more like him: in that situation, I assume I would be too aroused or appalled to argue.

Out of context material right here. Be the first to take advantage!

All these 3 solutions can be improved to $17 by adding a Baker coin on turn 3.

The puzzle specifically asked for no Baker, and one of the solutions you mention would not get to $17 because it was not getting $16 without the coin.

Any $2 giving money is a good reason to open Mint in many many boards. Arguably FG is the best, but Lighthouse, Duchess, Secret Chamber, Poor House, Squire and some others can be decent options as well.

$16 in T3, two players

Player 1 opens $5 Stonemason+Masq+Swindler / $2 Crossroads, draws Necro, Masq, Swindler, Crossroads, Copper for T3
Player 2 opens $3 Stonemason+2xPoor House / $3 Stonemason+2xPoor House, draws 4xPoor House and Necro for T3
Player 1 T3 plays Necro, Plays Swindler trashing OE (P2 draws Copper), plays Masq, passes Xroads and receives Copper.
Player 2 T3 Plays Necro, Plays Xroads, Plays 4xPoor House, gets $16 to spend (just 1 buy!)

Wow, nice!  I always forget the possibilities with Stonemason.  I was thinking:
Player 1 buys Masq
Player 2 buys Library
Player 1 buys Coppersmith
Player 2 buys Pawn
Player 1 plays Masq, passes Coppersmith, receives Overgrown Estate
Player 2 plays Necro, Pawn for action+coin, Coppersmith, Library, draws 6 more coppers for a total of 7 coppers -- they would have $15 and 1 buy (yes, my original question was for $14).

P1 Buys Masq ($3)
P2 Buys Stonemason+Xroads+Beggar ($4)
P1 Buys Coppersmith ($4)
P2 Buys Watchtower ($3)
P1 Plays Masq, passes Coppersmith
P2 plays Xroads, plays Coppersmith, plays WT, plays Beggar, has 8 Coppers in hand worth $2 each, for a total of $16.

I could not find a way to do more WT tricks like trashing incoming Squire, because playing Coppersmith is too important and money is tight.

EDIT: Oh, the puzzle changed. Well, that's no longer an easy puzzle.

Yeah, I thought of a way to make it a bit more interesting.

If there is no player limit, I think you can easily get all your Coppers in hand through Masqed Apothecaries and even play a number of TR/Processioned Coppersmiths, which would give a lot more than $14. You can also do some TR/Death Cart tricks. So, I think you should limit the number of players and start over :P

Game Reports / Re: Ambassador, Duke, Gardens and Vault confusion

I would open Armory/FV, and gain Armories and FVs for a while. If both opponents go the Duchy-route, just gain and topdeck Embargo and double-Embargo Duchy, which they cannot gain through Armory. Armory gaining other Armories is pretty good for ensuring you always have some at hand, and FV is pretty good at giving money and avoiding too many awful collisions. The -10 VP from Curses do Matter, and using Vault for Duchy-Duke is SO slow, especially against Embargo'ed Duchies, that I don't see it working.

Also, Gardens is more resilient to strategic Ambassadoring (for instance, a Gardens player against Duchy/Duke player can use Amb as a junker without returning anything, both annoying the other players and accelerating the piling of Estates and/or Curses greatly).

Pretty interesting and difficult kingdom.

If you think about it, the way fantasy handles languages in general is really dumb. The whole idea of a "common tongue" which is very often used is pretty ridiculous : try walking around 14th century Europe speaking only latin, good luck getting understood by anyone other than monks.

I wanted to experiment this, but those damn airlines are only selling tickets to 21st century Europe.

I do agree that the swear replacement in Firefly can get old, but I also view it as a cultural shift. Languages evolve all the time. Just look at how language was changed for A Clockwork Orange. Actually, A Clockwork Orange handles that way better than Firefly, which seems to only change swear words while not changing anything else.

Well, A Clockwork Orange is a masterpiece. Being worse than it does not really mean that much. I have not seen Firefly, so please, do not take this as a judgement of how masterpiece-y Firefly is.

BTW, the Spanish translation of the title actually means "The Clockwork Orange" instead of "A".

They do have great Christmas music.  But I saw them live two Christmases ago in Vegas and was very disappointed.  Their non-Christmas stuff is just.... meh.

Just like Santa!

Santa has great Christmas music?

He does. Unless you were naughty...
