But big numbers are awesome! Just look at Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG!
I've seen once kids playing this in a game store. Each player had a calculator next to him and used it more or less all the time.

By the way, does the Isotropish level really have to be displayed with such detail? I think 2nd decimal place is definitely overkill and even the first one isn't that needed. Isotropic displayed only your full level in the lobby, which made going up (especially to new all-time high) feel like an achievement.

LCG General Discussion / Re: Android: Netrunner - Favourite Factions?
« on: March 22, 2014, 04:56:04 am »
I like variety a lot so I play different factions. Especially corps (I feel playing corp is more fun to me recently), I aim to try everything. Weyland, HB, NBN - I've had decent success with each of them, I also try Jinteki every so often, but it keeps disappointing me, not working despite getting new cool cards (that make me try again) in each data pack. Maybe after the big expansion.

For runner I played Shaper for a long time, then recently switched to Criminal. I try Anarch decks from time to time, but most of them have too many moving parts for me, I feel they lack stability - when things go ok, they can work wonders, but too often cards don't come in correct order and whole deck fails.

54
Rather than 3, how about 1 per set you own?
That would be 9. Allowing, for example, to ban nearly half of the villages if I'm about to play a tournament match against a better player, making BM boards way more likely.

Are people seriously concerned with the family-friendliness of drunkensailor? I'm pretty sure we sang that song in Music lessons in 5th grade in school.
English native speakers did.

Personally I'm not concerned at all, the sailor could be drunk, naked and carry a burning pitchfork and I wouldn't care as long as the pitchfork is not aimed at me. But someone may be. Which is why if some day AI wants the extension to be linked from Goko website (which has both pros and cons), the name should be changed. Goko Salvager is way better.

I installed and tried to open Goko. I got "Goko is fixing things now" screen. Does the new Salvager cause Goko to do this? Good feature, though I hope you remove it once they fix all the things needing it.

On a more serious note: I guess that if I turn Isotropish ratings on and start a "+/-1000" table, the number still refers to Goko Pro rating (as long as the table is Pro game) and people get aoutokicked or not depending on their Goko Pro rating?

57
On the boards it is useful, it is usually just average.
This is just… not true. A card that can turn a strategy that buy a province each turn, into one that can double-province each turn without being destroyed too hard by the greening… is not "just average".
Well, Council Room can do that, too, and it is much better at it and still definitely "just average".
Council Room also costs $5 and benefits your opponent.

The logsearch/leaderboard page needs a good name too.  The problem with "drunkensailor" is that I don't actually own that domain.  It was a freebie from dynamicddns.  So I can't do https for it or use subdomains or anything.
I don't know how much work this requires and if there are people with skills and time willing to do this, but purely from a user point of view the perfect solution would be putting Goko logs and statistics together with all data we have from Iso, probably under the name councilroom.com (we probably can have more rights to this domain and, contrary to drunkensailor, the name is family friendly, which will matter if one day we decide we'd like Goko/Making Fun to link to our stats page directly from Dominion client).

Goko Dominion Online / Re: Goko bot strategy?
« on: March 20, 2014, 07:42:22 pm »
Has someone investigated whether SerfBot even beats pure BM? Otherwise adding a pure BM bot would make sense to let every newbie get over the "silver test"   :D
Tried 4 games. Won 3. The one I lost: http://www.gokosalvager.com/static/logprettifier.html?/20140320/log.50893139a2e67cff211cd7e5.1395358223710.txt - Colonies and Thief, Serf Bot buys Thieves turn 2, 4 and 10 stealing lots of money from me during the game. I lost by one point.

One of the boards I lost was also with Colonies, it took me 35 turns to get 8 Colonies, 1 Province and 1 Duchy with pure BM. The bot built some strange Golem/Beggar/Talisman/Spice Merchant engine which was quite good at gaining Coppers and Potions and probably trashing them.

You might also work on improving Serf Bot instead - e.g. tell it not to always split money evenly on several buys, and not to buy Copper in the absence of Gardens or other Copper enablers
I don't think it's good to improve Serf Bot. It is supposed to be weak. I'd prefer spreading the bots' skill more evenly - so that Serf Bot is still very weak, but there are bots with 1500ish Pro rating and also some with 4500ish (provided Goko can code a bot this good).

hsiale 3-1 2,71828...

I logged in to play straight after spending 8 hours travelling (first on a train, then an hour driving in awful weather) so I was a bit tired. This was probably the reason why I sticked to simple plans during the games.

Code: [Select]
Crossroads, Haven, Stonemason, Advisor, Moneylender, Contraband, Ill-Gotten Gains, Market, Merchant Ship, Tacticianhttp://www.gokosalvager.com/static/logprettifier.html?/20140316/log.50893139a2e67cff211cd7e5.1395011207543.txt
IGG mirror, he gets Moneylender and I don't. Curses end up split even and I manage to grab more VPs in the ending.

Code: [Select]
Familiar, Navigator, Nomad Camp, Sea Hag, Wandering Minstrel, Junk Dealer, Rebuild, Wharf, Border Village, Possessionhttp://www.gokosalvager.com/static/logprettifier.html?/20140316/log.50893139a2e67cff211cd7e5.1395011521778.txt
I go for Rebuild on a 3/4 opening on a board with Border Village/Wharf and Shelters. I guess I was tired enough to just turn the autopilot on once I saw Rebuild. Of course I got completely destroyed this game.

Code: [Select]
Vineyard, Embargo, Scrying Pool, Ironmonger, Remodel, Margrave, Mountebank, Outpost, Pillage, Hoardhttp://www.gokosalvager.com/static/logprettifier.html?/20140316/log.50893139a2e67cff211cd7e5.1395012135477.txt
We both go for Ironmonger into Mountebank. I get three Mountebanks, he gets two, mine collide a few times and I end up with 6 Curses. He buys some Margraves, I decide that my deck is too crappy to build any kind of engine so I grab a Hoard and start greening. I also get one Pillage at some moment and it does great work of killing one of his turns while Spoils and Gold from Hoard help me get more points during last turns.

Code: [Select]
Fishing Village, Storeroom, Spice Merchant, Walled Village, Golem, Catacombs, Laboratory, Saboteur, Stables, Forgehttp://www.gokosalvager.com/static/logprettifier.html?/20140316/log.50893139a2e67cff211cd7e5.1395013113570.txt
Most interesting game. Sticking to my "simple plans" mindset I go for Stables, ignoring trashing and adding a Saboteur into the mix (because why not, I have no other terminal and Stables cycle me fast so I should attack quite often). He builds an engine with Catacombs, Fishing Village, Laboratory and Storeroom, trashing some junk with Forge. With lots of extra actions available (two village piles and I'm completely not interested in getting any) I'm afraid he will add 2-3 Saboteurs, play them each turn and eat all of my deck. But luckily he gets just one Saboteur and it doesn't do a lot of damage before getting killed by the one I had. We both starts greening, his better deck gets more VPs, I have little buying power. But I still have strong cycling and get a second Saboteur when Duchies run out. Estates run out soon too, but there's no 3rd pile to empty quickly. My Saboteurs work wonders trashing 15 points from his deck and finally I manage to play enough Stables to get my 3 Silvers together with some Copper and buy last Province. I feel I was really lucky in this game.

And a trip from the west coast to the east coast or something? forget it!
Just 40 hours, we can do that too in Europe ;)
We can do much better.
Lisbon-Kiruna (my first try without even looking at the map) 47h
Portimao-Tromso (looking at the map, but I've heard of both cities before) 54h
Sagres-Vardo (never heard of those places before, but one is in the very southwestern tip of Portugal and the other and the northeastern end of Norway) 57h

The longest I could find in the USA was Key West, FL to Neah Bay, WA, 55h

In this game my opponent ignored Knights and I managed to use them to trash all of his cost 3-6 cards. He had to resort to a few Coppers and aim to 3-pile on Steward/Estate (I emptied the Wandering Mistrel pile). He had 7 Provinces but no chance to buy the last one, unfortunately he managed to get last Estate a turn before I could buy my 7th Fairgrounds and move into the lead. I think I could win if I really took time to think on Wandering Minstrel reorderings or figured a way to get my Fairgrounds up to 8 points which was definitely possible.

67
Secret Chamber would only generate more money, if you can discard a lot of crappy cards. So how can you get more than 3-4 crappy cards like estates, curses or ruins together with a secret chamber? The thing is: Any money card gives you at least as much dollars if you don't discard it.
Playing a money card means you get no further use out of it this turn (except Black Market/Mandarin shenanigans). Discarding it to Secret Chamber means you can still redraw it and play later. Secret Chamber can be really good in an engine that draws whole deck with ease and can do it again after you discard most of your hand for cash. And it sometimes can help this engine (activating Menagerie for example).

Game Reports / A game where I don't gain Rebuild but end up using it

Code: [Select]
Black Market, Fishing Village, Alchemist, Horse Traders, Militia, Scout, Young Witch, Butcher, Ghost Ship, Rebuild, Possession
Black Market was the bane.

Seeing Alchemist and Possession, I decided to not go for Rebuild. I opened Black Market/Potion (BM mostly in case he goes for YW), he went for Horse Traders/Black Market into Rebuilds. I got some Alchemists, a Gold, a Counterfeit from Black Market deck, got my Possession turn 7. He already had two Rebuilds and had some rebuilding done. Straight after my Possession buy he got Butcher. When I possessed him for the first time, I saw a hand containing Rebuild, Butcher, Province (2 Provinces for me). A bit later I got a good hand and managed to counterfeit my Potion to buy 3rd Alchemist and 2nd Possession, preparing to end the game quickly. I possessed him two more times, first seeing 2 Rebuilds, then unfortunately just Butcher with Duchy. But still I managed to get 28 points in total out of those three turns, enough to win the game.

I feel I was definitely lucky, both with early Possession and during the possessed turns. Do you think I was likely to win this game?

For me the most interesting were the first game, where I got killed by a Double Tactician/Butcher engine I had no clue existed here and the last, which was the craziest Possession game I ever played. There were moments when we were not sure who plays the next turn. It had Baker, Chapel, Golem and Saboteur. Each of us played 22 normal turns, additionally Marin possessed me 11 times and I possessed him 16 times. Saboteur was the star of my deck, killing one of Marin's Possessions, two Golems and two Duchies.

Marin - hsiale

We haven't played so far. I had problems with Goko running on the laptop which I used during the week, so we rescheduled our game for Sunday evening when I'm back home. Marin did not appear - it turns out he forgot about the match. He wrote me about this today, I'm waiting online, if he happens to join, we'd play the game.

I see the deadline has passed, so if you get to filling the results and making a new round, I think we should get a draw by default result, as I feel my low availability during the week was also a reason for the games being not played.

I also use +/-1000, which sometimes means 4500-6500, but sometimes moves way lower.
