I gave up on my FLGS and ordered from Amazon. It'll be here tomorrow. Too bad cause I would rather support my game store but I need to Dominion while the Dominioning is good.

How many non-Dominion games do you currently have "in the works" right now?

Will Prosperity be getting the newer style VP tokens in future editions?

Dominion: Empires Previews / Re: Empires Previews #4: Landmarks

I could be equally hyperbolic by saying that the rules don't permit you to talk, breath, or remember things at all. While rulebooks are permissive in theory, there are always unwritten assumptions which is why sometimes rulebooks must explicitly state restrictive rules (such as a "no talking" rule used in various games where in all other cases it is assumed players are permitted to talk even if the rules don't say that).

I doubt Donald would say that notetaking is allowed -- based off the rule that you can't look through your discard pile even -- but to claim that an act as innocent as notetaking is cheating cannot be justified by it's lack of inclusion in the rules.
Incorrecto. This has been discussed at length already, so: http://forum.dominionstrategy.com/index.php?topic=876.msg13546#msg13546
Now that was an entertaining thread!

Are you surprised with the direction cards have gone lately? I mean, did you used to think there was a more limited amount of variable cards before you found new avenues?

Is Rats the most thematic card you've made?

Do you already know the theme of the expansion after Empires?

I hope there won't be blanks. Those could just be events or landmarks instead.

I hope there won't be people complaining about blanks, as if good Events and Landmarks took zero time to create and test.
I keep learning what landmarks are from things like these. More please

Jay said over on boardgamegeek that Landmarks weren't Kingdom cards. I'm just going with Watno's assumption that they're like Events. Seems plausible.

It's obvious that Landmarks aren't physical cards at all.  They are real world places that you may visit to collect special powers via an app.  At last, augmented reality is coming to Dominion gameplay!
Just booked a flight to the Eiffel Tower. Thanks for the heads up!

Dominion General Discussion / Re: Storage solutions with Empires

I have not used the Hobby Lobby box but I think two of these are the answer. At least then I will have some stress-free room-to-grow.

Binders with pocket pages, man.  Very compact.

I've seen storage solutions like this that I really like. I have never seen pocket pages that will accommodate sleeved cards, though. :'(

Interestingly, Adam doesn't seem to hate them, so I guess the order won't be random.

I have not disclosed my hatred or lack thereof for any of the cards or other things in this set. I should also say that I think I'm going to start carrying Knights in my IRL box and just make sure Dame Anna is always on the bottom of the pile. Someone suggested this to me and I think I like it. Read into this what you would like. I'll be very amused at the conclusions you can come up with.
I too, an thinking about going to pocket pages if I could find one that held thick sleeves.

This expansion is becoming more and more ridiculous (in a good way).

Does this mean your opponent is limited to one buy unless that player happens to lay both treasure at the same time?  Two platinums would allow you to buy a $6 and a $4 as long as you buy the $6 first?

No, you always play all your treasure cards before buying anything. You aren't allowed to ever play more treasure after you buy something in your buy phase. You don't play each treasure you need to pay for a card as you buy that card. In the buy phase, you first play all treasures you want to play, one at a time, and then you buy all the cards you want to buy.
Of course.  Thank you.

Goko Dominion Online / Re: Thought after a day on Goko
« on: June 28, 2013, 03:58:19 pm »
When you are poor, living day to day, up to your ears in debt (where I have been) you can not "afford" to spend $45 on something frivolous.  I am guessing I could walk up to him today, hand him $45 and he still couldn't "afford" to pay for Goko.  He'd could, although, "afford" to buy dinner or toilet paper or a birthday card or socks...

I was scared off by Goko for the longest time from all the posts.  Finally took the plunge a couple months back and was pleasantly surprised.  I never cared for Iso so always avoided it.  With that, I have nothing to compare Goko to except the physical game.  There is a learning curve with some fiddly Goko things but after some "game mistakes" it doesn't take long to get in the groove.   $45 seems to be a fair price but I wish the promos were available for purchase.  I'd give Goko a B- at this point.

My parents (and soon to be student loans) pay for my transportation and food, and I work without pay at a research lab - or, at least, they haven't paid me yet. So no, I literally can't afford Goko. I can't even afford to go out and eat.
Been there.  He's right.  He can't afford it.

You could have a duration attack that only attacks this turn, and not the next.
Make it next turn.  That way you can make 'em think about it. 8)

I am also hoping for some good Duration cards in the future but aren't Coin Tokens the epitome of the Duration mechanic?

Mine is still in Oregon.

...Mine is in Florida...

Mine is on Goko.

And after getting it for $4, who on Earth would want to spend $30 on it? You already paid for Guilds once, RGG should really just give you the cards for free now.
I see what you did there.

Soothsayer is by far my favorite card.  Maybe not always the best choice but it sure sucks you in.

I appreciate everyone's contributions to the site. What Qvist provides must be very time consuming and is something beyond my compiling capability.  That said, I am sure you agree I have a right to give feedback and input on what he is providing.  I hope Qvist and you do not misconstrue my intent to improve the lists as ungratefulness.

98
I thought they were provided for the community.  My bad.

You can do whatever you want with potions. I don't think many pay much attention to that list anyway.

Pretend we got a large expansion after all.

So $7 Masterpiece doesn't exist?  What about the $13 Masterpiece I purchased the other game with a Tac deck?  It seemed pretty strong.
If it is important to you we can include a $13 Masterpiece with the other $13 cards.
