This puts the date at July 5, 2012    i.e. today

I applaud you for getting the most points possible using the criteria, but part of the challenge was doing the games without knowing the criteria for scoring points.  This is where the comparison to the Bastard mafia games comes from in which no one has any idea what is actually going on. ;)

damn, you got me ;(

Game Reports / 'Fun' with Pirate Ship and Chapel'
« on: July 04, 2012, 11:26:06 am »
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201207/04/game-20120704-081448-117f28b7.html
cards in supply: Apothecary, Apprentice, Chapel, Noble Brigand, Philosopher's Stone, Pirate Ship, Potion, Scrying Pool, Stables, Tactician, and Wharf
Chapel, Pirate Ship, no +2 actions, no big +$ lead to a very strange game lasting 45 turns.
I miss Tactician completely, my opponent gets one, but only one Pirate Ship.
I manage to take the win with getting more money out of his deck before it was gone than him from mine, resulting in my being able to get all the duchies and later pile on pirate ships and estates

Dominion General Discussion / Re: Which card is best for you?
« on: June 23, 2012, 08:46:41 am »
The stats merely look at if you won the game or lost the game and whether or not you gained the card.  They can't see if the card in question was the key card that caused you to win said game.

Yeah, but the number of games i win where pearl diver is in the game is significantly higher than when he isnt. So there seems to be a correlation

Game 1 was kinda crazy jester, still managed to tie there.
Game 2 what i did couldnt really work, baron was the key card there.
Dont really see why i lost game 3.
Game 4 was a really intersting board. In the end i won by not revealing my province to tournament.
Game 5 monument with villages and throne rooms seem to be better than monuments with throne rooms and money. Actually not that surprising.

Thx for the games, gl in the next rounds.

My top 5 are:
Duke: 1.46 winrate given available, gained 30% of games, winrate with 1.30, winrate without 1.53
Sea Hag: 1.46, 80%, 1.46, 1.46
Pearl Diver: 1.44,43%, 1.27, 1.56
Black Market: 1.41, 16%, 1.27, 1.56
Feast: 1.41, 18%, 1.30, 1.44

I seem to be good at not getting cards, especially black market (people buy that 68% of the games?) and Feast.
I really dont see how pearl diver can have such a huge impact on agame to get that high. Anyone got an explanation?

5189
Prosperity   1.48%
Dominion   1.97%
Seaside   1.49%
Intrigue   1.25%
Hinterlands   -5.59%
Alchemy   -2.06%
Cornucopia   -3.99%
Promotional   3.95%

pretty even actually, only hinterlands dropping out a bit

5190
I definitely think that fun sockets should let us choose the order in which we discard our cards so we can use this tactic. The runaway leader problem caused by not being able to do that has always bugged me on isotropic.

5191
That's a late Aprils fool prank, isn't it?

Hahm i can be right even when miscalculating^^.
The largest problem i see with this format is scheduling, since you cant postpone games without delaying the whole tournament. Also i think previous Isodoms had groups separated by region to make scheduling easier, which i think is a good idea.

Dominion General Discussion / Re: What card is worst for you?
« on: June 18, 2012, 12:52:28 pm »
Im also in the "bad with hinterlands category", 7 out of my 8 worst cards are from that set, with only hamlet being mixed in. Worst is silk, road, which i seem to buy too often. Still all above 1.00 though (yay). Hinterlands is also my weakest set
Intrerstingly, my best card is Pearl Diver with 1.49 winrate given available. cant really explain that to myself.

Im pretty sure the registration thread was syaing that people will be split according to ranking in the beginning. The only thing that was changed was that it'd be 3 groups instead of 2. If all players were in the same group, 5 rounds wouldnt be enough to get a decent 8-player cutoff i think (you wouldnt stand a chance if you lost one gameif my quick maths are right.)

Yeah, good match.
I'm interested in hearing what others have to say about cache - apothecary. Also in the last game I opened watchtower potion, but never really got good use of the watchtower, so out probably wasn't a good idea.
